Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop the scale for assessing the education goal achievement of Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy (KAFNA). Methods: Initial items were drawn from relevant literature reviews and focus group interview with 21 participants. Content validity index about initial items was reviewed by 9 experts. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was conducted between May and June in 2019, with data collected from 316 nursing officers who have not passed 5 years since graduation of KAFNA. Results: Exploratory factor analysis showed 7 factors (Basic nursing skill, evidence based practice, loyalty & leadership, military nursing, health promotion, patient centered nursing, nurse professionalism) including 31 items with 62.6% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed 31 items in the 7-factor structure. Reliability was Cronbach α .93. Conclusion: These results of statistical analysis indicate that the scale proposed may be used as an objective tool for the effectiveness of KAFNA's educational goals. It is expected that the scale offers quantitative indicators which can be used improving competency-based nursing curriculum of KAFNA.

Purpose: This study was conducted to describe the lived experience of the VR core nursing skills training program from the learner's perspective among cadets in Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy. Methods: The VR training program using a head-mounted device and hand motion tracking technology. Twenty cadets from third- and fourth-year were asked to use the program and respond to semi-structured questions using a reflection journal. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques. Results: Among 339 statements, 249 meaningful sentences were derived by integrating similar contents. Seven categories of 'Experiencing immersion and fun with new technology', 'Considering the training as thinking practice, not memorization procedure', 'Feeling psychological comfort from virtual reality', 'Feeling physical effects of wearing equipment', 'Practicing skills repetitively without additional cost', 'Experiencing limits of untouchable virtual reality technology', and 'Expecting the future progress' were identified. Conclusion: The VR core nursing skills training program enables independent practice at the learner's own pace and is useful for learning step-by-step theoretical evidence. It is necessary to develop a core nursing skills training program in the future which may complement the advantages and disadvantages of current VR training nursing programs.

Purpose : This study aimed to develop a curriculum for cadets who enter Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy from 2018 to 2021. Methods : Using the competency-based curriculum development process, the authors reviewed literature, interviewed focus groups, and conducted modified-Delphi method. Focus group interviews were done with faculty and cadets at KAFNA, middle managers and junior officers in military healthcare settings. Modified Delphi method has been implemented to verify the validity of the developed curriculum with a panel of 14 experts. The curriculum was finalized through a public hearing and the steering committee of education in KAFNA. Results : The curriculum of 146 credits was developed with six core competencies, six educational objectives, and eight program outcomes linked to one another. The Delphi for the newly developed curriculum demonstrated the average content validity ratio (CVR) of .86, a convergence level of .91, and a consensus degree of .21. Conclusion : The curriculum was successfully developed with high consensus. However, it should continue to be renewed and updated to educate and train the cadets as excellent nursing officers, as the society, the military, and the healthcare environment will not stop changing.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the comparison of self-resilience, self-efficacy, and vocation of Korea Armed Forces Nursing academy (KAFNA) cadets and civilian nursing college students. Methods: This study was a descriptive comparative study. 121 KAFNA cadets and 117 civilian nursing college students participated in this study. Data were collected from July 1 to July 22 using structured questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients. The structured questionnaire consisted of 32 questions of self-resilience, 23 questions of self-efficacy and 24 questions of vocation. Results: The mean of self-resilience was 3.71±0.35 for KAFNA cadets and 3.37±0.48 for civilian nursing college students (t=5.64, p<.001). In addition, the mean of KAFNA cadets' self efficacy was 3.42±0.53 which was higher than 3.11±0.48 score of civilian nursing college students (t=4.81, p<.001). And the mean of vocation for KAFNA cadets' and civilian nursing college students was 2.89±0.60, 2.39±0.62 respectively (t=6.32, p<.001). Finally, the degrees of self-resilience, self-efficacy, and vocation for KAFNA cadets' were higher than that of civilian nursing college students. There was a statistically significant difference between the degrees of self-resilience, self-efficacy, and vocation for KAFNA cadets' and that of civilian nursing college students. Conclusion: Based on this study results, in order to strengthen the self-resilience, self-efficacy, and vocation, it is necessary to develop educational nursing curriculums for disasters or emergencies. Therefore these education can lead to the development of professional nursing capabilities as well as disaster nursing capabilities.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the influencing factors of clinical nursing performance competency among Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy (KAFNA) cadets with the aim of providing foundational data to enhance clinical nursing performance. Methods: This study was a descriptive study, with a sample size of 122, 3rd and 4th year cadets at KAFNA. Data was collected through a self-reported online survey platform from July 5, 2021 to November 2, 2021. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS. Results: The level of clinical reasoning competency, nursing process competency, communication skills, and clinical nursing performance competency of KAFNA cadets was found to be moderate or above compared to general nursing students. The clinical nursing performance competency of the cadets showed a positive correlation with clinical reasoning competency (r=.84, p<.001), nursing process competency (r=.78, p<.001), and communication skills (r=.58, p<.001). According to the results of a stepwise multiple regression, clinical reasoning competency (β=.63, p<.001), nursing process competency (β=.11, p=.297), communication skills (β=.17, p=.005), and satisfaction with nursing major (β=.34, p=.042) were significant, and these factors explained 73.8% of the variance in clinical nursing performance competency, which was statistically significant (F=82.38, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on these research results, it is suggested that in order to improve the clinical nursing performance competency of KAFNA cadets, educational programs should be operated to enhance their clinical reasoning competency, nursing process competency, and communication skills.
