We investigate the relative and Tate cohomology theories with respect to Ding modules and complexes, consider their relations with classical and Gorenstein cohomology theories. As an application, the Avramov-Martsinkovsky type exact sequence of Ding modules is obtained.

In this work, nano-convex-patterned polyimide surface (notated as 1-sample) and nano-concavepatterned polyimide surface (notated as 2-sample) were prepared by self-assembly and etching. Atomic force microscope (AFM) with a colloidal probe was used to examine the adhesion and nano-tribological behavior of the 1-sample and 2-sample. Results suggest that the 1-sample and 2-sample can decrease the surface friction and adhesive forces because of the decreased contact area between the contacting pairs. The friction forces of the 1-sample and 2-sample increased with the increase in sliding velocity and applied load. Moreover, the nano-concave pattern is more effective in reducing the adhesive force than the nano-convex pattern because of its higher surface roughness. However, the nano-convex patterning is more effective in reducing the friction force than the nano-concave patterning because of the smaller area of contact between the 2-sample and the colloidal probe.

This paper investigates a novel LED lamp arrangement to reduce SNR fluctuation in indoor visible light communication system. In VLC system, the signal sources often come from several LED lamps. The different positions of the LED lamps will influence the system quality. In our proposed scheme, the LED lamp arrangement consists of N LED lamps spreading in the ceiling. The heights of all lamps are the same of 3 meters which is the height of communication room. An optimal LED arrangement with the firework algorithm is presented for the minimum SNR factor and SNR fluctuation on the light receiver plane no matter the number of lamps. In order to compare the effect of SNR distributions, the total power of N LED lamps is identical. Our studies show that the SNR factor under such a LED arrangement is reduced from 118.5 to 4.09 with 16 LED lamps multi-input system which effectively reduces the SNR fluctuation between different users. Such arrangement guarantees all users obtain almost identical communication quality regardless of users’ locations.

In this paper, we introduce and discuss the notion of DC- projective modules over commutative rings, where C is a semidualizing module. This extends Gillespie and Ding, Mao’s notion of Ding projective modules. The properties of DC-projective dimensions are also given.

Screening and Cloning of RAPD Markers from the W Chromosome of Silkworm, Bombyx mori L.

Silkworms sex determination drew high attention from researchers. Sex chromosomes on the silkworm are of ZW type for females and ZZ type for males. Chromosome W plays an important role in sex determination. Although several molecular linkage maps have been constructed for silkworm, very few markers are discovered on the W chromosome. In order to look for molecular markers and to further locate the Fem gene on chromosome W, we used genomic DNA from both female and male larvae of a silkworm strain named 937 as PCR templates for RAPD amplification with 200 arbitrary 10-mer primers. The amplification results showed three female-specific bands, namely OPG-07496, OPC-151,660 and OPE-181,279. Further verification, however, revealed no band from OPG-07 and OPC-15 in either sex in the strain 798, but OPE-18 provided female-specific band in the strains Suluan7 and C108, and absent in both males and strain 798. This indicates that the bands from OPG-07496 and OPC-151,660 are probably female-specific in strain 937, and the band from OPE-18 was probably amplified from a common segment shared by most strains. The genomic DNAs from OPG-07 and OPC-15 were cloned and sequenced. Sequence analysis showed that the DNAs from OPG-07 and OPC-15 have high identities with the retrotransposable elements, and DNA from OPC-15 contains a portion of sequence which probably encodes an eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E binding protein (eIF4EBP).

Let R → S be a ring homomorphism. The relations of Gorenstein projective dimension with respect to a semidualizing module of homologically bounded complexes between U ⊗LR X and X are considered, where X is an R-complex and U is an S-complex. Some sufficient conditions are given under which the equality ${\mathcal{GP}}_{\tilde{C}}-pd_S(S{\otimes}{L \atop R}X)={\mathcal{GP}}_C-pd_R(X)$ holds. As an application it is shown that the Auslander-Buchsbaum formula holds for GC-projective dimension.

DEGSO : Hybrid Group Search Optimizer with Differential Evolution Operator

In standard group search optimizer (GSO) algorithm, scroungers will converge to the similar position if the producer cannot find a better position than the old one in a number of successive iterations and the group may suffer from the premature convergence. In this paper, a hybrid GSO with differential evolution (DE) operator named DEGSO is proposed to enhance the diversity of standard group search optimizer. In this method, the standard GSO algorithm and the DE operator alternate at the odd iterations and at the even iterations. The results of the experiments indicate that DEGSO is competitive to some other evolutionary computation (EA) algorithms.

Direct synthesis of $H_2O_2$ and in situ oxidative desulfurization of model fuel over Au/Ti-HMS and Au/TS-1 catalysts has been comparatively investigated in water or methanol. Maximum amount (82%) of active $Au^0$ species for $H_2O_2$ synthesis was obtained. Au/Ti-HMS and Au/TS-1 exhibited the contrary performances in $H_2O_2$ synthesis as $CH_3OH/H_2O$ ratio of solvent changed. $H_2O_2$ decomposition and hydrogenation in water was inhibited by the introduction of methanol. Effect of $O_2/H_2$ ratio on $H_2O_2$ concentration, $H_2$ conversion and $H_2O_2$ selectivity revealed a relationship between $H_2O_2$ generation and $H_2$ consumption. The highest dibenzothiophene removal rate (83.2%) was obtained over Au/Ti-HMS in methanol at 1.5 of $O_2/H_2$ ratio and $60^{\circ}C$. But removal of thiophene over Au/TS-1 should be performed in water without heating to obtain a high removal rate (61.3%). Meanwhile, $H_2$ conversion and oxidative desulfurization selectivity of $H_2$ were presented.
