Quasi average consensus of discrete time hybrid agents with heterogeneous dynamic nodes, i.e. the nodeswith mixed first order and second order integrators is touched upon here. To be different from the already existingresults, the consensus protocol for the hybrid order agents must be refined into two different sub protocols, one isfor the first order agents, and the other is for the second order agents; and on account of the couplings betweenthe velocity and the position of the second order agents, the ultimate goal of the consensus of the position of allthe agents can only be made possible in the pre-requisite of the velocity of the second order agents being driven tozero. And even further, the reconfiguration of agent states were made to ease the peer to peer information exchangeanalysis of positions among all the agents, and velocities among the second order agents. Simulations are also beingoffered to demonstrate the effectiveness of the suggested scheme further.

Invasion is usually recognized as the main reason for the high recurrence and death rates of glioma and restricts the efficacy of surgery and other therapies. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the mechanism involved in promotion effects of mda-9/syntenin on human glioma cell migration. The wound healing method was used to test the migration ability of human glioma cells CHG-5 and CHG-hS, stably overexpressing mda-9/syntenin. Western blotting was performed to determine the expression and phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and JNK in CHG-5 and CHG-hS cells. The migration ability of CHG-hS cells was significantly higher than that of CHG-5 cells in fibronectin (FN)-coated culture plates. Phosphorylation of FAK on tyrosine 397, 576, and 925 sites was increased with time elapsed in CHG-hS cells. However, phosphorylated FAK on the tyrosine 861 site was not changed. Phosphorylated Src, JNK and Akt levels in CHG-hS cells were also significantly upregulated. Phosphorylation of JNK and Akt were abolished by the specific inhibitors SP600125 and LY294002, respectively, and the migration ability of CHG-hS cells was decreased, indicating that the JNK and PI3K/Akt pathways play important roles in regulating mda-9/syntenin-induced human brain glioma migration. Our results indicate Mda-9/syntenin overexpression could activate FAK-JNK and FAK-Akt signaling and then enhance the migration capacity of human brain glioma cells.
Meta-analysis of the MDM2 T309G Polymorphism and Gastric Cancer Risk

Background: Mdm2 binds to the amino-terminus of p53 to induce its degradation and a single nucleotide polymorphism in the MDM2 promoter region (T309G) has been reported to increase the risk of several carcinomas, such as gastric cancer. However, the results of published studies to analyze the association between MDM2 T309G and gastric cancer havve often conflicted. Methods: To better illustrate the filiation between MDM2 T309G and gastric cancer, we performed a meta-analysis. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to evaluate the strength of the relationship. The pooled ORs were performed for 4 models, additive, recessive, co-dominant model, and dominant. Results: Nine published case-control studies including 3,225 gastric cancer cases and 4,118 controls were identified. The MDM2 T309G polymorphism was associated with a significantly increased risk of gastric cancer risk when all studies were pooled into the meta-analysis (GG versus TT, OR=1.57; 95%CI=1.57-2.12; p=0.003) and GG versus GT/TT, OR=1.52; 95%CI=1.217-1.90; p<0.001). Furthermore, Egger's test did not show any evidence of publication bias (P = 0.608 for GG versus TT). Conclusion: Our results suggest that the MDM2 T309G polymorphism is indeed associated with a significantly increased risk of gastric cancer.

The effects of alkalization treatments on color,colorimetric fractions, total polyphenol content, andanthocyanin content of cocoa powder were investigated. Adarker color and a lower total polyphenol content wereobtained for cocoa powder alkalized using a K2CO3solution than with an NaOH solution. A high temperatureand basic pH conditions favored formation of darkcomponents during alkalization due to sugar degradation,Maillard reactions, and anthocyanin polymerizing. Theanthocyanin content decreased with an increasing alkaliconcentration, suggesting that more anthocyanins weretransformed into brown polymers in darker cocoa powder. Cocoa powder with a heavy degree of alkalization had thelowest ratio of monomer anthocyanins to yellow/brownpolymer content. OD460/OD525 values for alkalized sampleswere higher than for non-alkalized samples. Cocoa powderpresented a better color quality after alkalization treatment.
