        설측 복합레진 색상이 치아 순측 색상에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 순면 잔존 치질의 두께와 후방 복합레진의 색상이 최종 수복된 치아표면의 색상에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 시행하였다. 배경판으로 사용될 복합레진은 Filtek Supreme (3M ESPE, St. Paul, U.S,A.)의 Al, A2, A6D, Bl, B2, B3,C1, C2 C6D를 선택하였다. 배경판으로 사용될 복합레진 시편은 직경 10 mm, 두께 4.5 mm로 각 shade당 한 개씩 제작하였다. 순면 잔존 치질은 상악 중절치 치관의 순면을 제외한 나머지 부위를 아크릴릭 레진을 이용하여 매몰 후 저속의 Diamond Wheel Saw (Isomet ; Buehler Ltd, Lake Bluff, U.S.A.)를 이용하여 주수 하에 순면으로부터 2.5 mm 두께로 절단하였다. 절단된 상아질측 표면을 2000번 사포로 연마하여 2.2 mm 두께의 시편을 얻었다. 분광광도계 Spectrolino^(Ⓡ) (Serial No. 3257-18522, GretagMacbeth, Regensdorf, Switzerland)를 이용하여 치아시편을 9개의 복합레진 시편위에 접촉면에 수분이 있는 상태로 위치시켜 치아 순면색상을 측정하였다. 그 후, 치아시편의 상아질 측면을 1.0 mm까지 0.3 mm 간격으로 연마하면서 복합레진 시편위에 위치시켜 동일한 방법으로 색상을 측정하였다. 모든 시편에서 L^(*)값과 b^(*)값은 배경색에 무관하게 치아시편의 두께가 두꺼워질수록 증가하는 양상을 보였으나(p <0.05), a^(*)값은 배경색에 무관하게 두께에 따른 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. In this study we evaluated the influence of both the thickness of residual enamel and the color of the composite resins applied to lingual surface on the labial surface color. Background plates were made by randomly (Al, A2, A6D, Bl, B2, B3, Cl, C2, C6D) selected colors of Filtek Supreme (3M ESPE, St. Paul, U.S.A.) composite resin. Crown portion of 9 maxillary central incisors were cut off and embedded with acrylic resin except labial surface. Samples of average thickness of 2.2 mm were obtained after cutting it in a thickness of 2.5 mm from the labial surface and sandpaper polish. The shade of composite resin background was measured using Spectrophotometer (Spectrolino^(Ⓡ), GretagMacbeth, Regensdorf, Switzerland). And CIE L^(*)a^(*)b^(*) value of 2.2 mm thickness tooth samples were measured on the 9 composite resin backgrounds. And then, the cutting side of tooth samples was ground to the extent of 1.9 mm, 1.6 mm, 1.3 mm, 1.0 mm and placed on composite resin backgrounds and measured L^(*)a^(*)b^(*) values with the same method. In all samples, L^(*) value and b^(*) value seemed to have a tendency of decreasing as thickness of tooth sample becomes thinner regardless of background colors (p < 0.05). But, a^(*) value didn't show the significant differences depending on the thickness.

      • Synthesis and characterization of a new poly(octathiophene) based copolymer for organic thin-film transistor.

        <P>A new poly(octathiophene) based copolymer was designed and synthesized by the palladium catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction. The structure of the newly obtained copolymer was confirmed by 1H-NMR and IR. The number-average molecular weight (M(n)) of the polymer was 36,000 with a poly-dispersity index of 1.15. The polymer has good solubility in common solvents such as chloroform, toluene, chlorobenzene, dichlorobenzene and tetrahydrofuran at room temperature. The optical, thermal and electrochemical properties of the polymer were characterized by UV-vis absorption, TGA and DSC and cyclovoltametry, respectively. A thin film transistor using the new polymer as an organic semiconductor was found to exhibit typical p-channel FET characteristics with a hole mobility of 5 x 10(-4) cm2/Vs.</P>

      • Synthesis of a Low-Bandgap Fluorinated Donor–Acceptor Copolymer and Its Optoelectronic Application

        <P>We demonstrate the synthesis of a new copolymer which is composed of dialkyl thienylated benzodithiophene and perfluororalkyl-carbonyl thienothiophene (DTBDT-TTFO) and the characterization of its optoelectronic properties. The introduction of thienyl groups enabled the extended delocalization of π electrons in the DTBDT-TTFO backbone and efficient intermolecular charge transport as proved by the fairly high field effect mobility of 0.02 cm<SUP>2</SUP>/(V s). The introduction of perfluororalkyl-carbonyl side chains resulted in a significant red-shift of DTBDT-TTFO in the absorption spectra and a decrease in the HOMO and LUMO levels. The resulting energy levels of DTBDT-TTFO were not satisfactory for solar cell applications, especially in terms of charge separation at the polymer/PCBM interfaces. Rather, the DTBDT-TTFO showed better energy level matching with the colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) of CdSe. A photodetector based on the bulkheterojunction of DTBDT-TTFO and CdSe NCs with coplanar device geometry resulted in a high photoconductive gain (responsivity higher than 1A/W under a low operating voltage of 1 V), possibly arising from electron trapping at CdSe NCs such that the hole can travel along the detector and its surrounding circuit.       • Augmentation by Hypercholesterolemia of Amyloid β Peptide-Induced Learning and Memory Deficit

        The present study was carried out to establish an animal model, displaying long-term learning and memory dysfunction, since single intracerebroventricular (icv) injection of amyloid β peptide (Aβ) causes a short-term memory impairment. Male ICR mice were fed a high-cholesterol diet (HCD) containing 3% cholesterol, 1% corn oil and 0.5% cholic acid, and 1 week later, icv injected with Aβ<sub>1-42</sub> (5 μg/head). Learning/ memory function was assessed via passive avoidance performances 1 day and 2, 4, and 6 weeks after Aβ<sub>1-42</sub> injection, in addition to blood biochemical analyses for lipid profiles and hepatic function. Total cholesterol, lowdensity lipoproteins and hepatic dysfunction parameters markedly increased, while high-density lipoproteins were reduced following HCD feeding. Whereas single injection of Aβ induced temporary memory loss 1 day after administration, exhibiting full recovery after 2 weeks, Aβ treatment in combination with HCD feeding lasted the learning/memory impairment up to 6 weeks. Therefore, it is suggested that hypercholesterolemia augments Aβ-induced memory loss, and that Aβ injection plus HCD feeding could be a long-term memorydeficit model suitable for long-term treatment with drugs or stem cells.

        Novel triethylsilylethynyl anthracene-based organic semiconductors for high performance field effect transistors

        <P>A series of triethylsilylethynyl anthracene (TESAN) derivatives, end-capped with bithiophene and thienothiophene, were synthesized by Suzuki coupling. The thermal, optical, electrochemical, and crystalline properties of the TESAN derivatives were reported and correlated with charge transport behavior measured <I>via</I> both a thin film transistor and a single crystal transistor. The TESAN derivative substituted with bithiophene exhibited more efficient π electron delocalization over the molecule compared to the derivative substituted with fused thienothiophene, and consequently gave the highest FET mobility, 1.28 cm<SUP>2</SUP> V<SUP>−1</SUP> s<SUP>−1</SUP>, from single crystal transistors with negligible hysteresis and almost zero turn-on voltage.         Correlation of responsiveness to pain intensity and functional status measurements after lumbar epidural steroid injection in patients with lower back pain

        This study aimed to examine the changes in the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) scores before and after epidural steroid injection (ESI) in patients with lower back pain, and the correlation between the three scales in patients with reduced scores on these scales. Patients completed the NRS, ODI, and RMDQ before and after receiving ESI. A paired t-test was performed to compare the mean scores obtained before and after ESI. The correlations between the scores were estimated by calculating the difference between the baseline and follow-up scores. Of the 49 patients, 37 completed both questionnaire assessments. Among them, 26 patients (70%) presented a post-ESI decrease in scores obtained on all three scales. The NRS score decreased from 6.81±1.91 points at baseline to 3.66±2.22 points at follow-up (P<0.0001); similarly, the ODI score decreased from 41.65±14.76 to 30.38±16.16 points (P=0.0025); and the RMDQ score decreased from 11.11±5.68 to 7.64±5.74 points (P=0.011). Of the 37 patients who completed the two questionnaires, 26 had reduced NRS, ODI, and RMDQ scores. The intraclass correlation coefficients between the NRS and ODI, NRS and RMDQ, and ODI and RMDQ scores were 0.7943, 0.6615, and 0.7182, respectively. The concordance correlation coefficients between the NRS and ODI, NRS and RMDQ, and ODI and RMDQ scores were 0.6020, 0.4938, and 0.5202, respectively. Among the measurements, the correlation between the NRS and ODI scores was the highest, and a moderate correlation was found between the scores obtained using the other instruments.

        Anti-atherosclerotic Effect of Carnitine in Rabbits

        Effects of carnitine on atherosclerosis and steatosis of hypercholesterolemic rabbits induced by a high-cholesterol diet (HCD) containing 0.5% cholesterol and 2.0% corn oil were investigated. Male New Zealand white rabbits with hypercholesterolemia (blood cholesterol 1,000-1,500 mg/dl) induced by two-week feeding a HCD, were fed a HCD containing 0.008 or 0.075% L-carnitine for an additional eight weeks. Feeding a HCD for 10 weeks resulted in severe atheromatous change, covering 55.7% of the aortic walls, in addition to profound hepatic steatosis. However, carnitine supplementation resulted in recovery of the increased low-density lipoproteins and triglycerides and a decrease in the levels of high-density lipoproteins following HCD feeding, although the increased cholesterol concentration was not potentially attenuated. Notably, carnitine induced a marked reduction of the atheroma area and hepatic lipid accumulation as well as lipid peroxidation. The results of this study indicated that carnitine exerted anti-atherosclerotic and fatty liver-preventing activities through blockade of lipid peroxidation and regulation of lipid metabolism.

        Effects of β-Lapachone on Gastric Secretion

        The effects of β-lapachone on gastric secretion were investigated. The pylorus of male Sprague-Dawley rats was ligated and intraduodenally injected with β-lapachone, and the volume, pH, free HCl, and total acidity of gastric fluid were measured 6 hours after the operation. Treatment with β-lapachone resulted in dose-dependent inhibition of gastric secretion Gastric fluid was reduced to 42.9% of control level by 100 mg/kg of β-lapachone, leading to an increase of pH to 6.70 from 1.85 in the control group. In parallel with the increase of pH, at this dosage, free HCl and total acidity decreased to 16.7% and 12.0%, respectively, of control levels. β-Lapachone exhibited ED50 values of 72, 46, and 47 mg/kg for inhibition of gastric volume, free HCl, and total acidity, respectively, implying a superior efficacy on gastric acid to volume. In comparison, pantoprazole (30 mg/kg) reduced the volume, free HCl and total acidity of gastric fluid to 53.0%, 26.0%, and 25.0%, respectively, of control levels, resulting in an increase in pH to 6.36. In the current study, it was confirmed that β-lapachone at an appropriate dose (100 mg/kg) exerted a higher inhibitory effect on gastric secretion than pantoprazole (30 mg/kg), a well-known proton-pump inhibitor. Therefore, it is suggested that β-lapachone could be a candidate compound for prevention or treatment of gastric ulcers induced by diverse psychological and physical stimuli.
