Synergistic photocatalysis of bimetal mixed ZIFs in enhancing degradation of organic pollutants: Experimental and computational studies

        Weihao Zhu,Yuanfeng Wu,Guiyun Yi,Xiaoxiao Su,Qiangsheng Pan,Shengbin Shi,Olayinka Oderinde,Guomin Xiao,Chuanxiang Zhang,Yulong Zhang 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.119 No.-

The present work is aimed at studying the synergistic catalysis of the bimetal ZIFs containing Co and Znmetal ions prepared by solvothermal method in the degradation of organic pollutants under ambientconditions. The bimetal mixed ZIFs were further characterized by some techniques such as XRD, SEM,TG-DTG, XPS, UV–vis, ESR, and N2-adsorption. Interestingly, the sample prepared with equal metal ions(1Zn:1Co) showed the highest catalytic performance for methylene blue (MB) degradation (94.10 %). Thismay be associated with the interaction between cobalt and zinc within the adjacent lattice, which makethe MB molecule to be easily adsorbed and degraded on empty electron orbit. Furthermore, the highestdegradation of MB was achieved with 98.83 % under the optimized conditions (catalyst weight of 50 mg,pH of 5, 3 h, 30 C). Besides, the various substrates such as methyl orange, indole, rofloxacin, methyl blue, and tetracycline were also investigated under the same conditions. Additionally, the DFT calculationresults suggested the more orbital distribution (LUMO, HOMO) of ZIF(1Zn:1Co) can result to more electronsbeing easily captured, and generate more radicals via electron transfer. Finally, the photocatalyticdegradation of MB is consistent with the first law of kinetics, and the activation energy is 26.797 KJ/molin the presence of ZIF(1Zn:1Co).

Hair Growth Promoting Effects of 650 nm Red Light Stimulation on Human Hair Follicles and Study of Its Mechanisms via RNA Sequencing Transcriptome Analysis

( Kai Yang ),( Yulong Tang ),( Yanyun Ma ),( Qingmei Liu ),( Yan Huang ),( Yuting Zhang ),( Xiangguang Shi ),( Li Zhang ),( Yue Zhang ),( Ji’an Wang ),( Yifei Zhu ),( Wei Liu ),( Yimei Tan ),( Jinran 대한피부과학회 2021 Annals of Dermatology Vol.33 No.6

Background: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) leads to thinning of scalp hair and affects 60%~70% of the adult population worldwide. Developing more effective treatments and studying its mechanism are of great significance. Previous clinical studies have revealed that hair growth is stimulated by 650-nm red light. Objective: This study aimed to explore the effect and mechanism of 650-nm red light on the treatment of AGA by using ex vivo hair follicle culture. Methods: Human hair follicles were obtained from hair transplant patients with AGA. Hair follicles were cultured in Williams E medium and treated with or without 650-nm red light. Real-time RT-PCR and immunofluorescence staining were used to detect the expression level of genes and proteins in hair follicles, respectively. RNA-sequencing analysis was carried out to reveal the distinct gene signatures upon 650 nm treatment. Results: Low-level 650 nm red light promoted the proliferation of human hair follicles in the experimental cultured-tissue model. Consistently, 650 nm red light significantly delayed the transition of hair cycle from anagen to catagen in vitro. RNA-seq analysis and gene clustering for the differentially expressed genes suggests that leukocyte transendothelial migration, metabolism, adherens junction and other biological process maybe involved in stimulation of hair follicles by 650-nm red light treatment. Conclusion: The effect of 650-nm red light on ex vivo hair follicles and the transcriptome set which implicates the role of red light in promoting hair growth and reversing of miniaturization process of AGA were identified.

3D Hierarchical Flower-Like Cobalt Ferrite Nanoclusters-Decorated Cotton Carbon Fiber anode with Improved Lithium Storage Performance

Meng, Yanshuang,Cheng, Yulong,Ke, Xinyou,Ren, Guofeng,Zhu, Fuliang The Korean Electrochemical Society 2021 Journal of electrochemical science and technology Vol.12 No.2

The inverse spinel Cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4, CFO) is considered to be a promising alternative to commercial graphite anodes for lithium ion batteries (LIBs). However, the further development of CFO is limited by its unstable structure during battery cycling and low electrical conductivity. In an effort to address the challenge, we construct three-dimensional hierarchical flower-like CFO nanoclusters (CFO NCs)-decorated carbonized cotton carbon fiber (CFO NCs/CCF) composite. This structure is consisted of microfibers and nanoflower cluster composited of CFO nanoparticle, in which CCF can be used as a long-range conductive matrix, while flower-like CFO NCs can provide abundant active sites, large electrode/electrolyte interface, short lithium ion diffusion path, and alleviated structural stress. As anode materials in LIBs, the flower-like CFO NCs/CCF exhibits excellent electrochemical performance. After 100 cycles at a current density of 0.3 A g-1, the CFO NCs/CCF delivers a discharge/charge capacity of 1008/990 mAh g-1. Even at a high current density of 15 A g-1, it still maintains a charge/discharge capacity of 362/361 mAh g-1.

Enhanced Strength–Corrosion Synergy of 6061Al Casting Alloy Through Erbium Addition

        Guilan Xie,Puli Cao,Daibo Zhu,Jingxin Li,Chaohua Jiang,Juan Li,Yang Liu,Jirong Liu,Yulong Zhu 대한금속·재료학회 2023 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.29 No.12

The purpose of this work is to investigate the effect of Er on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of 6061 alloys. Thetensile strength and corrosion resistance of the 6061 alloys first enhanced and then declined synergistically with the increaseof Er content. Microstructure analysis revealed that the morphology, composition, and potential of secondary phases changedsignificantly as Er content changed. When the Er content is 0.6 wt%, the needle-like β-AlFeSi phases transformed into thegranular AlFeSiEr phases, which led to an increase in the tensile strength of the 6061 alloys. At the same time, compared withthe acicular β-AlFeSi phases, the granular AlFeSiEr phases own a lower potential difference with α-Al, which weakened thecorrosion of the micro-galvanic couples. However, as the Er content is higher than 0.6 wt%, the granular AlFeSiEr phaseschanged to block-shaped, which can adversely affect the tensile strength and corrosion resistance of the 6061 alloys. EISresults show that, compared with the acicular β-AlFeSi phases, the 6061 alloys with granular AlFeSiEr phases form moreuniform oxide films and exhibit better corrosion resistance. This study indicates that through appropriate Er addition, thesynergistic enhancement of tensile strength and corrosion resistance of the 6061 alloys can be obtained, which is of greatsignificance for the strengthening and long-term service of aluminum alloys.

FLOURY ENDOSPERM12 Encoding Alanine Aminotransferase 1 Regulates Carbon and Nitrogen Metabolism in Rice

        Mingsheng Zhong,Xi Liu,Feng Liu,Yulong Ren,Yunlong Wang,Jianping Zhu,Xuan Teng,Erchao Duan,Fan Wang,Huan Zhang,Mingming Wu,Yuanyuan Hao,Xiaopin Zhu,Ruonan Jing,Xiuping Guo,Ling Jiang,Yihua Wang,Jianmi 한국식물학회 2019 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.62 No.1

Starch is a major storage substance in cerealgrains, and starch biosynthesis is a complex process. In orderto elucidate regulation of the starch biosynthesis pathway, wescreened a series of rice (Oryza sativa L.) endospermmutants. In this study, we identified a floury white-coreendosperm mutant named floury endosperm12 (flo12). Theflo12 mutant exhibited loosely packed starch granules and alower thousand kernel weight compared to wild type. Semithinsections revealed that compound starch grains (SG) inflo12 interior endosperm cells were developed abnormally. Furthermore, amylose content was decreased, while totalprotein content was significantly increased in flo12 grains. Map-based cloning showed that FLO12 encodes rice alanineaminotransferase 1 (OsAlaAT1). OsAlaAT1 is highly expressedin developing endosperm. Subcellular localization showedthat OsAlaAT1 is localized in the cytosol. Moreover, theexpression of most starch synthesis-related genes wasdecreased, while most of the storage protein coding geneshad elevated expression levels in the flo12 mutant. Inaddition, overexpression of the OsAlaAT1 gene increasedgrain weight. In brief, we demonstrated that OsAlaAT1regulates carbon and nitrogen metabolism, which provides anew insight for the improvement of rice quality and yield.

Effects of L-proline on the Growth Performance, and Blood Parameters in Weaned Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-challenged Pigs

        Kang, Ping,Zhang, Lili,Hou, Yongqing,Ding, Binying,Yi, Dan,Wang, Lei,Zhu, Huiling,Liu, Yulan,Yin, Yulong,Wu, Guoyao Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2014 Animal Bioscience Vol.27 No.8

This trail was conducted to study the effect of L-proline on the growth performance, and blood parameter in the weaned lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-challenged pigs. Thirty six pigs ($9.13{\pm}0.85$ kg) were assigned randomly to dietary treatments in a $2{\times}3$ factorial arrangement in a 20-d growth assay. Factors were intraperitoneal injection with saline or LPS, and three dietary L-proline supplement levels (0%, 0.5%, or 1.0%). On d 10, blood samples were collected at 3 h after LPS (100 ${\mu}g$ LPS/kg body weight [BW]) or saline injection. On d 20 of the trial, all pigs were orally administrated D-xylose (0.1 g/kg BW) at 2 h, and blood samples were collected at 3 h after LPS or saline injection. As a result, dietary supplementation with 0.5% proline had a tendency to increase average daily gain (ADG) in piglets during d 10 to 20 (p = 0.088). Without LPS challenge, dietary supplementation with 1.0% proline had no effect on growth hormone (GH) concentrations on d 10 (p>0.05), but decreased it after LPS challenge (p<0.05). There was LPS challenge${\times}$proline interaction for GH concentrations on d 10 (p<0.05). Dietary supplementation with 1.0% proline decreased glucagon concentration on d 10 after LPS challenge (p<0.05). In addition, dietary supplementation with proline increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity significantly on d 10 and 20 (p<0.05), and 1.0% proline increased heat shock proteins-70 concentration on d 10 (p<0.05). Moreover, proline supplementation increased diamine oxidase (DAO) concentrations after LPS challenge (p<0.05). There was LPS challenge${\times}$proline interaction for DAO (p<0.05). Furthermore, dietary supplementation with 1.0% proline increased the D-xylose level when no LPS challenge (p<0.05). These results indicate that proline supplementation could improve growth performance, increase SOD activities, and has a positive effect on the gastrointestinal tract digestibility in early weaned pigs.

Dehydration reaction of bio-ethanol to ethylene over modified SAPO catalysts

        Yu Chen,Ling Tao,Bin Dai,Mingde Yang,Zhen Chen,Xiaoyan Zhu,Yulong Wu 한국공업화학회 2010 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.16 No.5

Mnmodified SAPO-11 (Mn-SAPO-11), Zn-SAPO-11, Mn-SAPO-34 and Zn-SAPO-34 were first synthesized with hydrothermal method in the laboratory. Dehydration of ethanol to ethylene over SAPO-11, SAPO-34and four materials above as catalysts was carried out and Mn-SAPO-34 exhibited the best conversion and selectivity (99.35% and 98.44%, respectively) at 340 8C. The introduction of Mn2+ or Zn2+ into the SAPO channel generated in Mn-SAPO or Zn-SAPO samples was proved by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and nitrogen adsorption. NH3-TPD study revealed that modification of Mn2+or Zn2+ in the SAPO framework led to increase the weak acid strength and give rise to weak acid sites. The effects of operation parameters, such as loading amount, modification methods, reaction time, reaction temperature, mass space velocity and concentration of ethanol have also been investigated experimentally. 2010 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. Effects of Achyranthes Bidentata Polysaccharide on Growth Performance, Immunological, Adrenal, and Somatotropic Responses of Weaned Pigs Challenged with Escherichia coli Lipopolysaccharide

        Guo, Guanglun,Liu, Yulan,Fan, Wei,Han, Jie,Hou, Yongqing,Yin, Yulong,Zhu, Huiling,Ding, Binying,Shi, Junxia,Lu, Jing,Wang, Huirong,Chao, Jin,Qu, Yonghua Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2008 Animal Bioscience Vol.21 No.8

A study was conducted with 48 weaned barrows ($28{\pm}3d$, $8.45{\pm}0.14kg$) to determine the effect of Achyranthes bidentata polysaccharide (ABPS) supplementation on pig performance, immunological, adrenal and somatotropic responses following Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS) challenge. The experiment was a $2{\times}2$ factorial design; the main factors included diet (supplementation with 0 or 500 mg/kg ABPS) and immunological challenge (LPS or saline). On d 14 and 21 of the trial, pigs were given an intraperitoneal injection with either $100{\mu}g/kg$ BW of LPS or an equivalent amount of sterile saline. Blood samples were obtained 3 h after injection for analysis of tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ (TNF-${\alpha}$), prostaglandin $E_2$ ($PGE_2$), cortisol, growth hormone (GH), insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I and immunoglobulin G (IgG). On d 2 after LPS challenge, peripheral blood lymphocyte proliferation (PBLP) was measured. LPS administration decreased average daily feed intake (ADFI) (p<0.05), had a tendency to decrease average daily gain (ADG) (p<0.10) during both the first and second challenge periods and increased (p<0.05) feed:gain ratio only during the first challenge period. ABPS tended to improve ADG (p<0.10) during the first challenge period, and improved ADG (p<0.05) and tended to improve ADFI (p<0.10) during the second challenge period. ABPS did not affect feed:gain ratio. An interaction (p<0.05) between LPS challenge and diet was observed for the plasma concentrations of TNF-${\alpha}$, $PGE_2$ and cortisol after both LPS challenges such that, among LPS-treated pigs, pigs fed the ABPS diet were lower for these indices than those receiving the control diet. In contrast, pigs fed the ABPS diet had higher IGF-I (p<0.05) compared with those fed the control diet. No effect of diet, LPS challenge or both on GH and IgG was observed after both LPS administrations. LPS challenge increased PBLP when these cells were incubated with $8{\mu}g/ml$ of LPS during both the challenge periods, and did likewise when incubated with $8{\mu}g/ml$ of concanavalin A only after the first challenge. ABPS had no effect on PBLP. These data demonstrate that ABPS alters the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines following an immunological challenge, which might enable pigs to achieve better performance.
