장정일의 소설 『아담이 눈뜰 때』를 관통하는 진실과 거짓, 진짜와 가짜의 이분법, 그리고 그 위에 구축되는 글쓰기 주체라는 도식은 한국소설사에서 오랜 시기에 걸쳐 반복되어 온 낡은 도식이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그것이 ‘90년대적인 것’이 될 수 있었던 것은 신세대문학의 반항적인 자기 선언과 결합해 있었기 때문이다. 이 소설은 그것을 통해 윤대녕과 신경숙으로 대표되는 (아직 본격적으로 도래하지 않은) 1990년대 진정성의 문학과 미리 접점을 형성한다. 모든 믿음이나 환상이 무너진 환멸의 공간에서 ‘나’가 유일하게 믿을 수 있는 것은 상상적 자아뿐이고, 문학에 대한 믿음도 거기에 근거하는 것이다. 그리고 이것이 바로 문학을 내면의 성소(聖所)로서 절대화하는 문학주의가 진정성의 이상과 결합할 수 있는 근거다. 진정성의 이상이란 무엇보다 자기 자신의 내면이 절대적으로 진실하다는 믿음에 기초해 성립하는 것이기 때문이다. 장정일의 『아담이 눈뜰 때』는 이런 방식으로 1990년대에 본격적으로 전개된 진정성의 문학, 그리고 그것을 통해 확고해진 90년대적 문학주의를 예고한다. Nevertheless, it could have been ‘90s’ because it was combined with the rebellious self-declaration of the new generation of literature. Through it, the novel forms a pre-contact point with the literature of authenticity in the 1990s, represented by Yoon Dae-nyeong and Shin Kyung-sook. In a space of disillusionment in which all beliefs or fantasies have collapsed, the only thing ”I“ can believe is the imaginary self, and the belief in literature is based there. And this is the basis for ‘literaryism’, which makes literature absolute as an inner sanctuary, to combine with the ideal of authenticity. This is because the ideal of authenticity is based on the belief that one’s inner self is absolutely sincere. In this way, Jang Jung-il’s ”When Adam Opens His Eyes “heralds the literature of authenticity that developed in earnest in the 1990s, and the 90s literaryism that became firm through it.

Annealing Effects after Nitrogen Ion Casting on Monolayer and Multilayer Graphene

<P>The modification of the electronic properties of a coverage-dependent graphene layer by nitrogen ions irradiation was investigated using core-level photoemission spectroscopy (CLPES). Here we describe preparation of monolayer and multilayer epitaxial graphene (EG) functionalized by nitrogen ions irradiation with 100 eV to minimize the damage of graphene layer as we annealed up to 1300 K to track the surface property changes using CLPES. As a result, on the monolayer EG, we found that pyridinic nitrogen mainly existed on the surface. On the multilayer EG, we observed the formation of graphitic nitrogen remaining as a major species confirmed using N 1s core-level spectra. Through a work function change (ΔΦ) measurement, both systems indicated p-type doping properties with 4.71 (monolayer EG) and 4.87 eV (multilayer EG) of work function values after N<SUB>2</SUB> ion irradiation. Interestingly, we observed that monolayer EG maintained its p-type doping character, whereas multilayer EG changed the doping character from p-type to n-type as we annealed both systems up to 1300 K due to the discrepancy of the electron charge transfer. <P>We present a high-speed holographic microscopic technique for quantitative measurement of polarization light-field, referred to as polarization holographic microscopy (PHM). Employing the principle of common-path interferometry, PHM quantitatively measures the spatially resolved Jones matrix components of anisotropic samples with only two consecutive measurements of spatially modulated holograms. We demonstrate the features of PHM with imaging the dynamics of liquid crystal droplets at a video-rate.</P>

<P>The substitutional doping method is ideally suited to generating doped two-dimensional (2D) materials for practical device applications as it does not damage or destabilize such materials. However, recently reported substitutional doping techniques for 2D materials have given rise to discontinuities and low uniformities, which hamper the extension of such techniques to large-scale production. In the current work, we demonstrated uniform substitutional doping of monolayer MoS<SUB>2</SUB> in a 2 in. wafer of area >13 cm<SUP>2</SUP>. The devices based on doped MoS<SUB>2</SUB> showed extremely high uniformity and stability in electrical properties in ambient conditions for 30 days. The photodetectors based on the doped MoS<SUB>2</SUB> samples showed an ultrahigh photoresponsivity of 5 × 10<SUP>5</SUP> A/W, a detectivity of 5 × 10<SUP>12</SUP> Jones, and a fast response rate of 5 ms than did those based on undoped MoS<SUB>2</SUB>. This work showed the feasibility of real-life applications based on functionalized 2D semiconductors for next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
