        The Actinomyces species are normal flora of oral cavity and upper intestine characterized as gram-positive, non-spore-forming anaerobic or mjcroaerophilic rods. Actinomycosis is a chronic suppurative and granulomatous disease characterized by abscess, sinus, abundant granulation and mass. The appendix is the commonly involved site among abdominal actinomycosis. Abdominal actinomycosis is often difficult to diagnose before operation because of no reliable clinical features and infrequency of the disease. We report two cases of abdominal actinomycosis which were manifested as acute appendicitis. Those were detected Incidentally tv the pathologist after routine appendectomy. Both patients were successfully treated with appendectomy followed by proper antibiotics use.

        폴리에스테르 섬유 감량시스템의 제어를 위해서는 처리조 내에서 감량되는 섬유가 목표 감량치에 도달했는지를 판단해 주는 장치가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 가성소다용액의 초농도 및 섬유 감량 정도의 정확한 측정과 감량 종료시간의 산출 및 이에 따른 종료신호를 발생할 수 있는 폴리에스테르 섬유 감량기 전용의 자동적정장치를 개발하였다. To control caustic soda treatment system for the polyester fabric reduction, we need the device to determine that the fabric has been arrived target reduction value. In this study, we develope an automatic process titrator for the caustic soda treatment system. Major functions of the target titrating system are accurate measurements of the caustic soda concentration and then producing the end point signal for caustic soda treatment system.

      • 그람양성구균에 대한 Teicoplanin과 Vancomycin의 시험관내 항균력

        An increasing frequency of methicillin resistant S. aureus(MRSA), methicillin resistant coagulase negative staphylococci(MRCNS) and Enterococcal infection have been observed in recent years. Teicoplanin is a new glycopeptide antibiotic obstained from the Actinoplanes teicomycetius. The molecular structure and spectrum of antimicrobial activity of teicoplanin is simillar to those of vancomycin, and has been reported to have an excellent in vitro and in vivo effect against various gram-positive infections. Therefore, we evaluated the in vitor susceptibility of gram positive cocci, such as, S. aureus, coagulase negative Staphylococci(CNS), and Enterococci to teicoplanin and vancomycin. The total 253 strains consisted of MSSA(40), MRSA(53), MSCNS(47), MRCNS(48), and Enterococci(65). They were assayed by disc diffusion and agar dilution. During the study, 57% of S. aureus and 49% of CNS showed resistance to methicillin. The inhibitory diameter of teicoplanin was 15-20mm in MSSA, 12-19mm in MRSA, 13-24mm in MSCNS, 11-23mm in MRCNS, and 15-22mm in Enterococci respectively, and showed sensitivity in all but 8 strains(3.2%). The range of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of teicoplanin to MSSA, MRSA, MSCNS, MRCNS and Enterococci were 9.12-2.0㎍/ml, 0.25-2.0㎍/ml, & 0.25-32㎍/ml, 0.12-1.0㎍/ml respectively. One case of S. haemolyticus was resistant to teicoplanin (32㎍/ml) by the agar dilution method. Eight minor (3.2%) and one major(0.4%) error was observed when the MIC and disk diffusion data were correlated with teicoplanin. As for vancomycin the inhibitory diameter was 17-21mm in MSSA, 15-21mm in MRSA, 18-26mm in MSCNS, 18-25mm in MRCNS, and 16-22mm in Enterococci respectively. The range of the MIC of vancomycin to MSSA, MRSA, MSCNS, MRCNS, and Enterococci were 0.25-1.0㎍/ml, 0.25-4.0㎍/ml, 0.5-2.0㎍/ml and 0.5-2.0㎍/ml respectively. One minor error (0.4%) was seen with the vancomycin disk. The MIC90 of MSSA and MRSA exhibited the same results in teicoplanin (1.0㎍/ml, 1.0㎍/ml), and vancomycin(2.0㎍/ml, 2.0㎍/ml). MSCNS and MRCNS exhibited greater MIC90 with teicoplanin(4.0㎍/ml, 8.0㎍/ml) than vancomycin(2.0㎍/ml, 2.0㎍/ml). Incontrase Enterococci were more susceptible to teicoplanin(0.5㎍/ml) than to vancomucin (2.0㎍/ml). Results from this analysis indicated that both teicoplanin and vancomycin were very excellent for gram positive infections, especially those resistant to methicillin.

      • 참치 뼈를 이용한 Hydroxyapatite 세라믹 복합체의 합성 및 생체 친화성(제3보) : 인공체액에서의 Hydroxyapatite 세라믹 복합체간의 결합의 전자현미경 관찰 SEM Photographs of Bonding Properties between Hydroxyapatite Ceramics Composites in the Simulated Body Fluid

        참치 뼈에서 추출한 hydroxyapatite를 출발물질로 여러 가지 세라믹 복합체를 제조하여 인공체액에서의 hydroxyapatite 복합체간의 화학결합을 조사하였다. hydroxyapatite 복합체들은 인공체액에서 4주 후부터 화학 결합성질을 나타내었다. 결합강도는 bioglass가 가장 강하게 나타났으며, 조성에 따른 의존성은 관찰할 수 없었다. 인공체액에서 복합체들은 이들의 경계면에서 불균일 핵생성 및 성장에 의해 화학적 결합으로 이루어졌다. Chemical bonding was investigated in the simulated body fluid of several selected hydroxyapatite-containing composites. The hydroxyapatite-containing composites chemically bonded with each other in the simulated body fluid after 4 weeks. Bioglass was strongly bonded in the simulated body fluid, but bonding strength was not depended on composition. Their composite bodies were chemically bonded by heterogeneous nucleation and growth at the interfaces of the specimens in the simulated body fluid.

      • 고콜레스테롤 식이에 있어 제주산 해조 식이섬유 섭취에 따른 지질대사 및 항산화효소에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 고콜레스테롤 식이 군에 제주산 해조 식이섬유의 첨가 수준을 달리한 식이가 흰쥐의 지방대사에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 체중이 132.3±7.34 g인 Sparague-Dawley종 수컷 흰쥐에게 고콜레스테롤혈증을 유발시키기 위하여 콜레스테롤를 식이 사료의 0.5%가 되도록 첨가하고 제주산 해조 식이섬유 분말은 식이 사료의 각각 1.0% 및 2.5%가 되도록 첨가하여 총 3군으로 나누어 4주간 사육하였다. 체중 증가량과 식이효율은 식이에 의한 영향은 없었다. 혈중 중성지방, 총콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤은 고콜레스테롤 식이에 비해 제주산 해조 식이섬유를 첨가한 군이 크게 감소하였으며 유의적 차이를 나타냈다. HDL-콜레스테롤은 고콜레스테롤 식이 쥐에 비해 제주산 해조 식이섬유를 첨가한 군이 증가하는 경향을 보였으나 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. 총 콜레스테롤 함량에 대한 HDL-를레스테롤 함량의 비는 제주산 해조 식이섬유를 첨가하였을 때 유의적인 차이를 보이며 증가하였다. GPT, GOT활성의 경우 GPT활성은 군간에 비슷한 경향을 보였으며, GOT활성은 제주산 해조 식이섬유를 첨가한 군이 유의적인 차이를 보이며 감소하였다. 항산화효소인 SOD 및 catalase 활성은 식이에 의한 영향은 없었다. 이상의 결과를 볼 때 제주산 해조 식이섬유의 체내 지방대사에 있어 총 콜레스테롤과 LDL-콜레스테롤, 중성지방 및 GOT 활성을 낮추고 HDL-콜레스테롤/총 콜레스테롤 비는 높이는 효과를 나타냈다. 따라서 제주산 해조 식이섬유는 생체내 항고클레스테롤 및 고콜레스테롤에 의한 스트레스로부터 간을 보호하는 것을 알 수 있었다. This study was conducted to investigate hypocholesterolemia effect of dietary fiber from seaweed in Jeju in rats supplemented with hish cholesterol diet. Seaweed dietary fiber was produced by water extraction of the mixed main red algae including Gracilaria verrucosa, Gelidium amansii, Gigartina tenella, Gloiopeltis furcata and Campylaephora hypnaeoides. Thirty male Sprague Dawley rats weighing 132.3±7.34 were divide into high cholesterol diet and high cholesterol diet plus seaweed dietary fiber 1.0% or 2.5% for 4 weeks. Dietary fiber supplement could significantly decreased serum total cholesterol (TC), triacylglyceride (TG), LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C) and GOT than in high cholesterol diet. HDL-cholesterol level and HDL-cholesterol/total cholesterol ratio in the two groups of seaweed dietary fiber supplement significantly increased comparing to those in high cholesterol diet without dietary fiber. These results suggest that the seaweed dietary fiber may reduce elevated levels of serum cholesterol concentrations.

      • 심한 척추후측만증 환자의 대퇴골절 복원술을 위한 부위마취 : 증례보고 A case report

        Kyphoscoliosis is a disease manifested as lateral curvature of spine and accompanying rotation of the vertebrae, resulting in distortion of rib cage. Restrictive lung disease and pulmonary hypertension progressing to cor pulmonale are the major cause of mortality in patients with kyphoscoliosis. We had experienced a successful spinal and caudal epidural anesthesia for the open reduction and internal fixation with plate of fractured femur shaft in two patients with severe kyphosoliosis. We had chosen regional anesthesia as an anesthetic method because of there poor pulmonary function and severe deformities of thoracolumbar spine. We could achieve the adequate anesthetic sensory dermatome level, T_(5) and T_(8), for operation without any significant deterioration of blood pressure and respiration. We recommended that regional anesthesia is a useful anesthetic method for a patients with severe kyphoscoliosis when the operation on hip or lower extremity is required.

        파노라마방사선사진에서 구획별 교합면 기준선에 대한 치아근원심경사

        Purpose : To evaluate the stability of the segmental occlusal plane and anatomical line as the reference line for measuring the mesiodistal tooth angulation in panoramic radiography and to determine the mean angle and the range of the mesiodistal tooth angulation in Korean population with normal occlusions. Materials and Methods : Twenty nine subjects (15 men, 14 women) with normal occlusion were selected. A total of 29 panoramic radiograms were taken at normal head position and then 10 images of 5 subjects selected were repeatedly taken with repositioning 2 times at each of the head down (V-shaped occlusion) and up (horizontal occlusion) for evaluation of stability of adopted reference lines by using PM2002CC (Planmeca, Finland). The images were traced with adoption of two test reference lines and the long axes of the teeth. The mesial angles formed by each reference line and the long axes of the teeth were measured and analyzed. Results : With anatomical reference line, the mesiodistal tooth angulations of the molars showed the significant difference by over 5 degree between the normal and each changed head position. With segmented occlusal reference line, deviations of mesiodistal tooth angulations by the two changed head positions were less than 1 degree. The means, standard deviations, and maximum and minimum values of mesiodistal tooth angulations to segmental occlusal reference line on panoramic radiography were determined. Conclusion : It would appear that mesiodistal tooth angulations to segmental occlusal plane as reference line in panograms are predictable as standards of normal occlusion and useful for evaluation of tooth arrangement between adjacent teeth.

      • 열처리된 ZnO:Al 투명 도전막의 전기적 및 광학적 특성

        The heat treatment effects of the undoped ZnO and Al doped ZnO(ZnO:Al or AZO) transparent conductive films prepared by rf magnetron sputtering were investigated. The variations of the electrical and optical properties with heat treatment temperature and ambient gas or conditions were studied. The resistivity of the undoped ZnO films, heat-treated in air, vacuum and H_(2) plasma for 1 hour, increased rapidly above 200 ℃ , 300 ℃ ,400 ℃ and 400 ℃, respectively. And the resistivity of the ZnO:Al films heat-treated in air also increased rapidly above 300℃ . On the other hand the resistivity of the ZnO:Al films heat-treated in vacuum and H_(2) plasma were observed constant resistivity regardless of heat treatment temperature. The optical transmittance above 550nm is about 90% for all films regardless of impurity doping, the heat treatment temperature and ambient gas or conditions.
