      • Mechanism for Fairness Service of Web Server

        HTTP/1.l standard reduces latencies and overhead from closing and re-establishing connections by supporting persistent connections as a default, which encourage multiple transfers of objects over one connection. HTTP/1.1, however, does not define explicitly connection-closing time but specifies a certain fixed holding time model. This model may induce wasting server's resource when server maintains conn ection with the idle-state client that requests no data for a certain time. This paper proposes the mechanism of a heuristic connection management supported by the client-side under persistent HTTP, in addition to HTTP/1.1's fixed holding time model on server-side. The client exploits the tag information within transferred HTML page so that decides connection-closing time. As a result, the mechanism allows server to use server's resource more efficiently without server's efforts.

      • Reduction of Inflammatory Reaction of Poly(D,L-Lactic-C<i>o</i>-Glycolic Acid) Using Demineralized Bone Particles

        <P>Poly(lactide-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) has been widely applied to tissue engineering as a good biocompatible material because of its biodegradability and nontoxic metabolites, but how the inflammatory reaction of PLGA on the surrounding tissue in vivo is reduced has not been discussed sufficiently. We hypothesized that the cells neighboring the PLGA implant might have an inflammatory response that could be reduced by impregnating demineralized bone particles (DBPs) into the PLGA. We manufactured five different ratios of DBP/PLGA hybrid materials, with each material containing 0, 10, 20, 40, and 80 wt% of DBPs of PLGA. For biocompatibility test, NIH/3T3 mouse fibroblasts were cultured on the DBP/PLGA scaffold for 3 days. The inflammatory potential of PLGA was evaluated using messenger ribonucleic acid expression of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin 1-beta (IL-1beta) on a human acute promyelocytic leukemic cell (HL-60). The in vivo response of DBP/PLGA film was compared with that of PLGA film implanted subcutaneously; the local inflammatory response was observed according to histology. The DBP/PLGA scaffold had no adverse effect on NIH/3T3 initial cell attachment and did not affect cell viability. DBP/PLGA films, especially PLGA films containing 80% DBP, elicited a significantly lower expression of IL-1beta and TNF-alpha from HL-60 cells than PLGA film alone. In vivo, DBP/PLGA film demonstrated a more favorable tissue response profile than PLGA film, with significantly less inflammation and fibrous capsule formation as below only 20% of DBP in PLGA film during implantation. This study shows that application of DBPs reduces the fibrous tissue encapsulation and foreign body giant cell response that commonly occurs at the interface of PLGA.</P>

        Analysis of Neck Trauma Patients Using the Korean National Emergency Department Information System

        Purpose: Trauma is a leading cause of death, even in previously healthy and disease-free individuals, and the mortality rate is very high in neck trauma patients. On the other hand, there have been few studies related to neck injuries. This study examined the characteristics and treatment results of trauma-related neck injuries using the data from Korean National Emergency Department Information System. Methods: Neck trauma patients were classified using the 6th Korean Standard Disease Classification system. The patients’ demographic factors, number of surgeries, and clinical results were investigated. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS to evaluate the annual differences in the demographic factors; mortality according to the site of injury and type of surgery; and mechanisms of injury. Results: From 2011 to 2014, 2,458 neck trauma patients were treated in hospitals in South Korea. The number of patients admitted to regional and local emergency medical centers was 883 (35.9%) and 1,502 (61.1%), respectively. No significant annual differences were observed in age, sex ratio, location of treatment center, mortality, and injury site (vascular, tracheal, or esophageal). In addition, no significant differences in the cause of injury, performed surgery (%), and mortality according to the injured organ were observed. Conclusion: This study revealed no annual changes in neck injury patients or differences in mortality according to injured organs. This study can be used as a basis for national research on organ-specific injuries, and may help predict the demand for future support projects for the establishment of regional trauma centers.         IPSec is a security protocol suite that provides encryption and authentication services for IP messages at the network layer of the internet. Key recovery has been the subject of a lot of discussion, of much controversy and of extensive research. Key recovery, however, might be needed at a corporate level, as a form of key management. The basic observation of the present paper is that cryptographic solutions that have been proposed so far completely ignore the communication context. We propose example to provide key recovery capability by adding key recovery information to an IP datagram. It is possible to take advantage of the communication environment in order to design key recovery protocols that are better suited and more efficient.

Key recovery has been the subject of a lot of discussion, of much controversy and of extensive research. Key recovery, however, might be needed at a corporate level, as a form of key management. The basic observation of the present paper is that cryptographic solutions that have been proposed so far completely ignore the communication context. Static systems are put forward for key recovery at network layer and solutions that require connections with a server are proposed at application layer. We propose example to provide key recovery capability by adding key recovery information to an IP datagram. It is possible to take advantage of the communication environment in order to design key recovery protocols that are better suited and more efficient.

      • TCP Connection Management on Client-side for Improving Web Server Performance

        HTTP/1.1 does not define explicitly connection-closing time but specifies a certain fixed holding-time model. This model may induce wasting server's resource when server maintains connection with the idle-state client that requests no data for a certain time. This paper proposes the mechanism of a heuristic connection management supported by the client-side under persistent HTTP, in addition to fixed holding-time model on server-side. We compare them to the fixed holding-time model used in the current implementation of Apache Web server. An experimental evaluation of connection management policies, conducted using Web server logs, shows that our policy achieves 15-20% reduction on busy Web server in cost with respect to the fixed holding-time policy. As a result, the mechanism allows busy Web servers to use server resource more efficiently without additional server load and give services to clients more fairly.

        네트워크에 연결된 시스템들은 TCP/IP의 인터넷 IP 계층에서 키 복구를 도입하여 사용하고 있다. 키 복구 연구는 많은 논란에도 불구하고 연구가 확대되고 있는 주제로서, 키 관리의 형태로 법인차원에서 필요하게 되었다. IPSec은 인터넷의 네트워크 계층에서 IP 메시지에 대하여, 암호화 서비스와 인증 서비스를 제공하는 보안 프로토콜이다. 본 논문은 IETF의 인터넷 표준 구조와 호환되게 키 복구 정보를 포함하는 데이터를 전송하는 방법을 제안하고 있다.         셀프리더십이 조직구성원의 임파워먼트, 자기효능감 및 혁신성에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 셀프리더십의 하위요소인 리허설, 자기설정목표, 자기존중이 임파워먼트 및 자기효능감에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 임파워먼트와 자기효능감이 혁신성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지 조사하였다. 본 연구의 목적을 위하 여 국내 외국계 기업 4개를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 수집한 설문지 중 305부의 응답내용을 분석대상으로 하였으며, SPSS 18.0과 AMOS 8.0을 사용하여 구조방정식 모형을 검증하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 셀프리더십 의 하위요소인 리허설과 자기존중은 임파워먼트를 높이지만, 자기설정목표가 임파워먼트에 미치는 영향력은 검증되지 않았다. 또한 셀프리더십의 세 가지 하위요소는 모두 자기효능감에 정(+)의 영향력을 미치며, 임파워먼트는 혁신성을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 자기효능감이 혁신성에 미치는 영향력은 검증되지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 시사점과 연구의 한계점 및 향후 연구방향이 논의되었다. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between self-leadership(rehearsal, self-goal setting, self-respect) and empowerment, self-efficacy and innovation. In order to verify the relationships, data obtained from 305 employees working in Seoul were analyzed by using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 8.0. This study reports findings as follows: First, the relationship between the self-leadership(rehearsal, self-respect) and the empowerment is positively related. Second, there was also a positive correlation between the self -leadership(rehearsal, self-goal setting, self-respect) and the self-efficacy. Third, the empowerment is positively related with innovation, however self-efficacy has no correlation with innovation. Implications of these results for research and practice were discussed.
