Early reperfusion can prevent myocardial necrosis, and clinical trials with reperfusion therapy demonstrating a significant reduction in acute myocardial infarction(AMT) mortality have dramatically changed the treatment paradigm for AMI. All patients with symptoms and ECG findings suggestive of AMI should be considered for treatment with thrombolytic agents. However, only a minority of AMI patients actually receive a thrombolytic therapy. Many patients are often excluded from treatment because they do not meet the criteria for age, duration of the chest pain, and a qualifying ECG. And late arrival at the hospital is a frequently cited reason for not giving a thrombolytic agent. To confirm the reason for not receiving an early reperfusion therapy, we obtained the data for the clinical characteristics, the time intervals between the symptom onset and the start of a thrombolytic agent infusion, the method of reperfusion therapy, the reason for not giving a thrombolytic agent and overall outcomes by retrograde chart review. During the 12-month study period between July 1994 and June 1995, 113 patients were finally diagnosed to AMI, who presented to Emergency Center of Ajou University Hospital in total 30,819 patients. The results were followings: 1. The average age was 59±12 years old, the ratio of male to female was 3.2:1. The direct visited patients to our hospital were 31 and the transfered were 82. 2. The chief complaints were chest pain(86.7%), dyspnea, dyspnea, and mental change. The common preceding diseases were angina pectoris(10 cases), old myocardial infarction(9 cases), congestive heart failure(2 cases) and typical chest pain but not diagnosed(23 cases). The risk factors were smoking(81 cases), hypertension (46 cases) and DM (22 cases). 3. 75 patients had arrived within 12 hours from symptom onset and 38 patients after 12 hours. 45cases (54.7%) were performed the reperfusion therapy ; 31 patients were taken the thrombolytic therapy by tissue-type Plasminogen Activator. 4. The most common reason for not receiving a reperfusion therapy was the time delay and the main was the patient/bystander factor. 5. 75.2%(85 cases) of the patients discharged with or without complications, 7.1% (8 cases) died, 10.6% (12 cases) discharged moribundly, and 7.1% (8 cases) discharged against advise. In conclusion, the time delay was the first reason for not receiving a reperfusion therapy in AMI patients. And the education for the AMI symptom and BLS (Basic Life Support) to the people, good EMS(Emergency Medical Service) system, early definite diagnosis and aggresive therapy may decline the mortality rate.

Kinetics of chemical vapor deposition of silicon on Ni substrate was investigated in the temperature range between 1173K and 1323K using hot-wall reactor and a gas mixture of SiCl₄ and H₂ The deposition rate of silicon was proportional to the square root of total flow rate of reactants and constant at a rate above 100sccm at 1273K and 300sccm at 1273K, respectively. The dependence of deposition rate of silicon on Cl/H input ratio was explained by the combined effect of that on the deposition rate and etching rate of silicon. Kinetics of silicon deposition obeyed the linear rate law. The deposition rate of silicon was controlled by the gas transport process through a gas boundary layer to the Ni substrate over 1248K and the activation energy for silicon deposition was 2.5 ㎉/mole. However, the rate determining step was chemical reaction process for silicon deposition below 1235K because the activation energy was 26.5 ㎉/mole, which was similar to that for silicon deposition on Si substrate.

The codeposition of Cr and Al into Ni substrate has been achieved using the single-step pack cementation process. The effect of activators, temperature and the activity of Cr and Al in the Cr-Al masteralloys on the formation of Ni-Cr-Al coatings and concentration control of Cr and Al was investigated in an argon atmosphere at 1273K and 1373K. The coatings consisted of an outward-grown β-NiAl layer in which Cr was dissolved except for the coating formed by 5wt%Al-1273K coating condition where Cr and Al dissolved in Ni substrate. Aluminide coatings grown outwards in pack powders were embedded with Al₂O₃ and masteralloy particles and Kirkendall voids were formed in Ni beneath the coating-substrate interface. A masteralloy of high Cr/Al activity ratio, low coating temperature and less stable activator are essential for codeposition of Cr-Al and provision of microstructures and composition which promise good oxidation/corrosion resistance to Ni-Cr-Al coatings.

It is well known that Rhododendron sclippenbashii contains the toxic material grayanotoxin. So, Koreans do not eat it, but they do eat azalea although it contains grayanotoxin. That is why there have been no reports about Rhododendron sclippenbashii intoxication after ingesting it intentionally, not accidentally. In this case, the patient was admitted to the emergency room with several toxic symptoms after intentionally consuming 50 blossoms of Rhododendron sclippenbashii to get rid of thirst. Treatment with saline infusion and atropine was successful and the outcome was favorable enough in this case to produce a complete cure without any sequelae at discharge. But toxic symptoms were seen for 24 hours, although the symptoms usually fade in 9 hours. Therefore, we should carefully treat and observe, for over 24 hours, the patient who intentionally ingests about 50 blossoms of Rhododendron sclippenbashii.

Accurate thrust measurement is very important when developing an engine of propulsion system. Especially for a low thrust liquid rocket engine(LRE), accuracy of thrust is seriously affected by thrust measurement errors and thurst losses which are caused by propellant supply system. In this study, a new thrust measurement system is developed for accurate thrust measurement of a low thurst LRE by minimizing these effects. Its thrust measurement range is 150~1500N and the maximum error is below 10N. Also, a reliability appraisal technique is investigated to improve reliability and accuracy of the thrust measurement system.
