        Chinese patent herbal medicine (Shufeng Jiedu capsule) for acute upper respiratory tract infections: A systematic review and meta-analysis

        Background: Shufeng Jiedu capsule has been widely used in China for acute upper respiratory tract infections (AURTIs). The aim of this study was to evaluate its effectiveness and safety for AURTIs. Methods: Randomized controlled trials comparing SFJD with conventional drug for patients with AURTIs were included. Eight databases were searched from their inceptions to February 2021. Data was synthesized using risk ration (RR) or mean difference (MD) with their 95% confidence interval (CI). The primary outcome was resolution time of typical symptoms. Results: Twenty-five RCTs involving 3410 patients were included. SFJD in combination with conventional drug was associated with; in common cold shortening the duration of fever (MD −1.54 days, 95% CI [−2.15,−0.92], I2 = 80%, n = 385, 3 trials) and cough (MD −1.22 days, 95% CI [−1.52, −0.93]); in herpangina, shortening the duration of fever (MD -0.68 days, 95% CI [−1.15, −0.21], I2 = 68%, n = 140, 2 trials) and blistering (MD −0.99 days, 95% CI [−1.23, −0.76], n = 386, 3 trials); in acute tonsillitis and acute pharyngitis shortening the duration of fever (MD −1.13 days, 95% CI [−1.36, −0.90], I2 = 33%, n = 688, 7 trials) and sore throat (MD −1.13 days, 95% CI [−1.40, −0.86], I2 = 84.1%, n = 1194, 10 trials). SFJD also improving their cure rate with a range (1–5 days). No serious adverse events were reported. Conclusion: Low certainty evidence suggests that SFJD appears to shorten the duration of symptoms in AURTIs, improve cure rate and seems safe for application. However, high quality placebo controlled trials are warranted to confirm its benefit.

        Deficiency of Follistatin-Like Protein 1 Accelerates the Growth of Breast Cancer Cells at Lung Metastatic Sites

        Purpose: Follistatin-like protein 1 (FSTL1) is a secreted glycoprotein that has been shown to play a role in various types of cancer. However, the clinical significance and function of FSTL1 in breast cancer have not been reported. We investigated the role of FSTL1 in breast cancer in this study. Methods: Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, western blot analysis, and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction were used to monitor the expression of FSTL1 in breast cancer tissue and in serum samples from breast cancer patients. We employed a 4T1 breast cancer model and Fstl1+/− mice for in vivo studies. Hematoxylin and eosin staining, western blot analysis, and RNA sequencing were used to analyze the effect of FSTL1 on primary tumor growth and lung metastasis. Results: We demonstrated that the expression of FSTL1 is reduced in both the breast cancer tissue and the serum of breast cancer patients. We showed that reduced levels of FSTL1 in serum correlate with elevated expression of Ki-67 and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in cancer tissues. Moreover, lowered expression of FSTL1 was associated with decreased survival in breast cancer patients. Experiments on the Fstl1+/− mouse model established that FSTL1 deficiency had no effect on primary tumor growth, but increased the lung metastases of breast cancer cells, resulting in reduced survival of tumor-bearing mice. RNA sequencing found significantly reduced expression of Egln3 and increased expression of EGFR in Fstl1+/− mice. Thus, our results suggest that FSTL1 may affect the expression of EGFR through Egln3, inhibiting the proliferation of breast cancer cells at lung metastatic sites. Conclusion: In conclusion, we suggest a suppressor role of FSTL1 in breast cancer lung metastasis. Furthermore, FSTL1 may represent a potential prognostic biomarker and a candidate therapeutic target in breast cancer patients.

        Model-free Adaptive Tracking Control for Networked Control Systems Under DoS Attacks and RTT Delays

        The model-free adaptive secure tracking control (MFASTC) problem of nonlinear networked control systems is explored in this paper with the consideration of DoS attacks and RTT delays. In order to compensate for DoS attacks and RTT delays, a new estimate value dependent attack compensation mechanism is proposed and a network-based predictive delay compensation mechanism is employed. The data-based design method need not any model or structure information of the system, and only depends on input/output data. In addition, the MFASTC algorithm is proposed to guarantee the output tracking error being bounded in the sense of mean square. Finally, an example with comparisons is used to show the effectiveness of the new algorithm.

        Confirming Whether Fine Needle Biopsy Device Shortens the Learning Curve of Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Tissue Acquisition Without Rapid Onsite Evaluation

        Background/Aims: Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS)-guided tissue acquisition requires a long learning curve. We aimed tocompare the skill maturation curves between fine needle aspiration (FNA) and biopsy (FNB) for tissue acquisition. Methods: The initial 60 procedures performed by the trainee endosonographer (30 FNA vs. 30 FNB) were consecutively enrolled. The difference in procedure performance was compared between the two groups. Learning curves were assessed. Twenty additionalcases were subsequently enrolled to assess the consistency of performance in the FNB group. Results: The FNB group acquired larger tissue samples (2.35 vs. 0.70 mm2; p<0.001) with lower blood content (p=0.001) and highertissue quality (p=0.017) compared with the FNA group. In addition, the FNB group required less needle pass to establish a diagnosis(2.43 vs. 2.97; p=0.006). A threshold diagnostic sensitivity of ≥80% was achieved after performing 10 FNB procedures. The numberof needle passes significantly decreased after conducting 20 FNB procedures (1.80 vs. 2.70; p=0.041). The diagnostic sensitivity andnumber of needle passes remained the same in the subsequent FNB procedures. By contrast, this skill maturation phenomenon wasnot observed after performing 30 FNA procedures. Conclusions: In EUS-guided tissue acquisition, the FNB needle was more efficient and thus shortened the learning curve of EUSguidedtissue acquisition in trainee endosonographers.

        Enhanced Performances of Vertical-Structured Green-Band InGaN/GaN Multiple-Quantum-Well Solar Cells with Aluminum Reflectors

        We demonstrated vertical-structured InGaN/GaN multiple-quantum-well (MQW) solar cells with enhanced performances at a wavelength of 510 nm. The enhancement was achieved by using a ptype ohmic mirror with a combined indium-tin-oxide film and an aluminum (Al) reflector inserted beneath the MQW absorption region. In addition, both good ohmic contact and high reflection were observed. The vertical-structured MQW solar cell with an Al reflector exhibited significant improvements in device performances as compared to that without the Al reflector, including a 49% increase in the short-circuit current density and a 56% increase in the power conversion efficiency.

        microRNA-328 in exosomes derived from M2 macrophages exerts a promotive effect on the progression of pulmonary fibrosis via FAM13A in a rat model

        Currently, exosome-enclosed microRNAs (miRs) in exhaled breath have potential for biomarker discovery in patients with pulmonary diseases. This study was performed to investigate the roles of M2 macrophage-derived exosomes expressing miR-328 in pulmonary fibrosis (PF). Microarray-based analysis was used to screen differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and regulatory miRs in PF. The miR-target relationship between FAM13A and miR-328 was confirmed. The expression of FAM13A and miR-328 was measured in PF rats, and gain- and loss-of-function assays were conducted to determine the regulatory effects of FAM13A and miR-328 on PF. In addition, exosomes derived from M2 macrophages were isolated and then cocultured with pulmonary interstitial fibroblasts to identify the role of these exosomes in PF. Furthermore, the effects of M2 macrophage-derived exosomes overexpressing miR-328 on pulmonary fibroblast proliferation and the progression of PF were assessed in vivo. miR-328 might perform a vital function in PF by regulating FAM13A. FAM13A expression was downregulated while miR-328 expression was upregulated in rats with PF, and a miR-target relationship between miR-328 and FAM13A was observed. Additionally, miR-328 overexpression and FAM13A silencing each were suggested to promote pulmonary interstitial fibroblast proliferation and the expression of Collagen 1A, Collagen 3A and α-SMA. Then, in vitro experiments demonstrated that M2 macrophage-derived exosomes overexpressing miR-328 contributed to enhanced pulmonary interstitial fibroblast proliferation and promoted PF. Furthermore, in vivo experiments confirmed the promotive effects of M2 macrophagederived exosomes overexpressing miR-328 on the progression of PF. Collectively, the results showed that

        How Consumers React to the Product Review Videos on Social Media Platforms : Based on the Elaboration Likelihood Model

        The purpose of this study is to explore how consumers process persuasive information from product review videos on social media platforms. We apply the elaboration likelihood model (ELM) to investigate the impacts of the central routes (information quality) and peripheral routes (characteristics of product reviewers and video popularity) on perceived persuasiveness. Additional to this study is examining the consumer involvement as a moderator between central and peripheral routes and perceived persuasiveness. The study sample consisted of 314 respondents from China. The results show that both routes substantially impact consumers' perceptions related to persuasive information and result in intentions of behavior. Moreover, the relationship between video popularity and perceived persuasiveness is positively moderated by consumer involvement. Our findings not only help the scholars understand the persuasive process in product review videos, but also assist the marketers and product reviewers in developing a better product marketing strategy on social media platforms.

        Influencing Factors on User Loyalty to WeChat Channels: Focused on Mediating Role of Platform Attachment

        WeChat Channels is a well-known short video platform in China. Competition in the short video platform market is getting more intense day by day. Moreover, loyalty is an essential factor for gaining a long-term competitive advantage. Thus, we aim to explore the influencing factors that drive user loyalty to WeChat Channels in this study. Building on the Uses and Gratifications Theory(U & G) approach and attachment theory, we proposed a theoretical framework to understand how content gratification(self-documentation), social gratification(social interaction), process gratification(entertainment), and technology gratification(medium appeal) impact loyalty to WeChat Channels through platform attachment. We collected 321 responses from China through an online survey. According to the findings, social gratification(social interaction), process gratification(entertainment), and technology gratification(medium appeal) all have a positive impact on platform attachment, which in turn enhances user loyalty to WeChat Channels. The findings enrich the existing literature on short video platforms while also providing critical implications for platform operators to facilitate user loyalty.

        타오바오 라이브 스트리밍 쇼핑의 사용 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인: 몰입이론 및 합리적 행동 이론을 기반으로

        The purpose of this study is to examine how the characteristics of TLSS (Taobao live streaming shopping) and subjective norm influence live streaming shopping usage intentions in e-commerce. We apply the flow theory and the TRA (Theory of reasoned action) to investigate the effects of perceived enjoyment, trust, interactivity, immediacy on attitude toward using TLSS, and the impact of subjective norm on intention to use TLSS. The research sample consisted of 335 respondents from China. The results show that interactivity is not significantly related to attitude toward using TLSS while perceived enjoyment, trust, and immediacy are significantly related to attitude toward using TLSS which in turn, indicate consumer’s usage intention of TLSS. Also, Subjective norm has a positive impact on TLSS usage intention. Our finding not only helps the researchers understand how the characteristics of TLSS and subjective norm influence live streaming shopping usage, but also assists the streamers and vendors in developing the better live streaming marketing strategy.
