The purpose of this study is to see changes about society and policy of sport for all according to the economic growth. This paper will serve as a basic for related study in the future and to find out what we should do for next generation. In conclusion, I found the following three points. First, there were changing thoughts towards the new concept of sport when Korea`s GNI reached around $2,000(1983yr) which means food, clothing, shelter would not be the problem anymore. After that time, the Third Republic made a law of “Korea Sport Promotion” and the Fifth Republic made a departure of “Sport division” in order to build a solid basis of sport for all. Second, we can discuss about the appearance and limitation of Korea`s sport for all. It happened in Six Republic, when the GNI was around $5,000~$7,000. The government was about to have interest about a fact that can “popularize public sport for all” and soon they focused on the “guidance of the sport for all.” The last, establishing a well-organized Korea`s sport for all is performed when Korea`s GNI reaches around $10,000~$30,000. Korean government promoted a scientific policy with quantitative growth and the next participatory state pushed a policy in both quantitative and qualitative ways. The present government is seeking an ideal welfare with sport including traditional martial arts.

Objective The cognitive, Affective, and Somatic Empathy Scale (CASES) suggests novel three components structure of empathy. Although CASES developed to assess the trait empathy of both children and adult, the validation in adult sample is not yet conducted. This study developed Korean version of CASES (CASES-K) and examined the psychometric properties in young adult for first time. Methods Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to test whether the factor structure suggested in initial development study is valid in Korean young adult population. 350 young adults participated, and 44 of them also answered to other empathy scales for validation. The construct validity was ascertained through a series of correlational analysis with widely used trait empathy scales. Results The result of confirmatory factor analysis supports the three-factor model of empathy consists of affective, cognitive and somatic facets. The result of correlational analysis supports the validity of CASES-K, and especially the separation of somatic empathy from affective empathy. Conclusion The current study provides the first evidence of the validity and utility of the CASES-K in young adult population. The result also supports the commonality of three factor structure of empathy in both East Asian and Caucasian, from the children to adults.

<P>Variable-wavelength photodetectors are fabricated by a selective growth of Zn<SUB><I>x</I></SUB>Cd<SUB>1−<I>x</I></SUB>Se alloy nanowires on patterned Au catalysts thus forming nanowire air-bridges between two Pt pillar electrodes. From the composition-dependent linear changes of bandgap energies and lattice parameters, Zn<SUB><I>x</I></SUB>Cd<SUB>1−<I>x</I></SUB>Se nanowires are found to be perfectly alloyed in the entire range of Zn composition without any phase separation and have a structural transition from zinc blende to wurtzite at 0.31 < <I>x</I> < 0.72. The spectral responses of Zn<SUB><I>x</I></SUB>Cd<SUB>1−<I>x</I></SUB>Se detectors show that the cut-off wavelength can be continuously tuned within the visible spectrum of light extending from red to blue. In on-off switching operations, all of the detectors can be reversibly switched between the low and the high conductivity state but the CdSe detector has slower response and recovery behaviors than ZnSe and Zn<SUB>0.72</SUB>Cd<SUB>0.28</SUB>Se ones, which is explained by adsorption and photodesorption of O<SUB>2</SUB> on the surface of CdSe nanowires.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Wavelength-controlled photodetectors are fabricated by selectively growing Zn<SUB><I>x</I></SUB>Cd<SUB>1−<I>x</I></SUB>Se alloyed nanowires on patterned Pt pillar electrodes, in which nanowire/nanowire junctions act as the conducting path. Ginseng has a long history of use for health enhancement, and there is some evidence from animal studies that it has a beneficial effect on cognitive performance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Korean red ginseng on cognitive performance in humans. A total of 15 healthy young males with no psychiatric or cognitive problems were selected based on an interview with a board-certified psychiatrist. The subjects were randomly assigned to receive a daily dose of 4,500 mg red ginseng or placebo for a 2-week trial. There were 8 subjects in the red ginseng group and 7 subjects in the placebo group. All of the subjects were analyzed with the Vienna test system and a P300 event-related potential (ERP) test. There were no significant differences in the Vienna test system scores between the red ginseng group and the placebo group. In the event-related potential test, the C3 latency of the red ginseng group tended to decrease during the study period (p=0.005). After 2 wk, significant decreases were observed in the P300 latencies at Cz (p=0.008), C3 (p=0.005), C4 (p=0.002), and C mean (p=0.003) in the red ginseng group. Our results suggest that the decreased latency in ERP is associated with improved cognitive function. Further studies with a higher dosage of ginseng, a larger sample size, and a longer follow-up period are necessary to confirm the clinical efficacy of Korean red ginseng.

Background: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) undergoing targeted therapy have a higher risk of developing tuberculosis (TB). This requires diagnosis and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). We aimed to evaluate whether diagnosis and treatment of LTBI in RA are effective in Korea, and to estimate the risk of TB development by calculating the incidence rate of active TB among RA patients receiving targeted therapy. Methods: We analyzed data from two prospective cohort studies of RA patients who received biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) or Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor. We selected new starters of targeted therapy and classified them into three groups receiving tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor, non-TNF inhibitor, and JAK inhibitor, respectively. We then compared LTBI prevalence, treatments, and active TB incidence during first-line therapy in each group. Results: A total of 765 RA patients (574 TNF inhibitor users, 132 non-TNF inhibitor users, and 59 JAK inhibitor users) were included in this study. Observation periods were 1,255.2 person-years (PYs), 264.7 PYs, and 53.3 PYs, respectively. All 765 patients underwent LTBI screening, and the positivity rate was 26.5% (n = 203). Of the 203 LTBI-positive patients, 189 (93.1%) received treatment. Only one patient, who was in the TNF inhibitor group, and was negative for the interferon gamma release assay (IGRA), did not receive LTBI treatment and developed active TB during follow-up. Conclusion: Although the prevalence of LTBI in RA patients who started targeted therapy was slightly elevated, the Korean guidelines specifying LTBI screening and treatment were effective in preventing latent TB from becoming active.
