Verification for sildenafil as a potential therapeutic effector following mild ischemic stroke

Ischemic stroke is one of the major diseases and leading cause of death in the worldwide. In particular, ischemic stroke is induced by the occlusion of the cerebral blood vessel due to either embolism or thrombus, thus this serious occurrence leads to the major cause of long-term disability in surviving patients. Sildenafil, as known as Viagra is a phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor and effect the nitric oxide-cyclic guanosine monophosphate pathways, which are deeply involved in the pathogenesis of the neurological diseases by causing intracellular accumulation of cGMP. Therefore, sildenafil may have a favorable therapeutic effect on the treatment of stroke, neurodegenerative disorders and vascular dementia by enhancing angiogenesis and neurogenesis. In our current study, we found a therapeutic effect of sildenafil on mild stroke model. After establishing the mild MCAo, we injected Sildenafil in mild stroke model and conducted a behavioral test to identify the cognitive function. In addition, mild stroke animal models were tested field excitatory postsynaptic potential (fEPSP) in the hippocampus following MCAo. Moreover, to confirm the infarct volume of brain, histological staining was performed. As a result, we obtained significant results compared with the mild stroke animal model treated with and/or without Sildenafil, which means that improving the cognitive behavioral phenotypes and the potential role for reducing the symptomatic outcomes after mild MCAo. According to these results in this study, therefore, our findings indicate that it may involve to the novel therapeutic effects for progressing the diverse phenotypes of mild ischemic stroke following MCAo
한국 단편영화 배급 시스템 변화를 위한 배급사들의 다양한 시도: 가능성과 한계점

The film industry, which used to be centered around movie theaters, is encountering abrupt challenges with changes in the form of audiences’ appreciation of movies due to COVID19 pandemic at the moment. In the midst of this turbulence, independent films and short films are further losing their grounds that were already ever small. Therefore, facing the post-pandemic era, we, in this article, will take a look at potential changes in distribution system of short films. Short films have compressed stories compared to long films because of short running time. Also, various types of artistic expressions are allowed to be portrayed in short films, and with these, they strive for diversity in movie films and carry artistic values. However, short films’ current film-festival-centered distribution system has resulted that majority of short films weren’t able to come to light with the exception of a small number of them. Furthermore, because of recent COVID19’s breakout, a large number of film festivals has been downsized and even canceled, adding up more tension in short film industry. Now, in order to react to these challenges, many distributors including Central Park Films, Rainy Days Picture, Filmdabin, and Funnycon, are searching for ways to quench the emergency in short films distribution. They host many premiere screening events and provide subscription services, and on the other hand, they recreate contents, provide OTT service, and produce omnibus-style short films. In short, they are putting efforts in trying something new. In this article, we will analyze and research short film distributors’ various new tries and their limitation and improving points in order to enhance potential for improvement in short films’ distribution system and to suggest its direction.
마블의 트랜스 미디어 스토리텔링 전략 : 완결성과 확장성을 중심으로

In the recent breaking down of boundaries between content platforms and the rising importance of expandability in the content market, the concept of transmedia still remains in the spotlight as a leading genre of multiplatforming. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has perfectly authenticated the concept and potential of such transmedia storytelling. A well-woven transmedia content has a relatively stable fanbase, with one content acting as a gateway for fans to visit other contents. In addition, the producer can construct his or her own original fictional world by creating and expanding upon the fictional world of the story line based on such fanbase. The characters in this fictional world becomes an original IP, crossing over medium to medium, and comes to possess an industrial value even be yond the content itself. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has perfectly authenticated the concept and potential of such transmedia storytelling. This thesis proposes specific method and direction for a successful transmedia storytelling by analyzing Marvel movies and their transmedia storytelling strategy based on Henry Jenkins’s transmedia theory which consists of four parts: 1) the establishment of an independent platform(multiplaforming); 2) the independent completeness of the story; 3) the connection and expandability of the story; and 4) the potential to promote audience participation as a trend. First we will examine the successful cases of Marvel Studios, focusing on the story’s completeness and expandability which is necessary at the early stages of the content development process. Most movies from Marvel Studios take the form of a 3 act 5 point structure, and has an innate completeness, displaying the conflict, transformation, and growth stages of the characters. The stories created in this way are merged using the method of spin-offs and crossovers to contribute to other stories. Moreover, the expanded story line and the underlying clues planted in each story call forth an active participation of the audience, forming another trend in the market. This thesis is expected to act as a checklist in developing multi-platforming content in the Korean cultural industry market where successful cases are yet to be seen.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary mixture of protease and probiotics on growth performance, blood constituents, and carcass characteristics of growing-finishing pigs. A total of 48 growing pigs were randomly allotted into 2 dietary (6 pigs/pen; 4 replicates/treatment). The treatments were a diet based on corn and soybean meal (CON) and CON supplemented with 0.01% of dietary mixture of protease and probiotics (MULTI). No differences were found on growth performance (average daily gain, ADG; overall, 874.06 vs. 881.14 g/d; p > 0.05), blood constituents (white blood cell, WBC; phase I, 17.51 vs. 19.96 × 10<sup>3</sup> /μL; phase II, 19.65 vs. 21.95 × 10<sup>3</sup> /μL; p > 0.05), and carcass characteristics during overall experimental period between CON and MULTI. In conclusion, the addition of dietary mixture of protease and probiotics in growing-finishing pig diet did not have any beneficial effects.

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary protease on growth performance, blood constituents, and carcass characteristics of growing-finishing pigs. A total of 48 growing pigs (initial body weight, 34.8 ± 0.62 kg) were randomly assigned to 2 dietary treatments (6 pigs/pen; 4 replicates/treatment). The treatments were a diet based on corn and soybean meal (CON) and CON supplemented with 0.01 % of protease (PRO). Pigs were fed respective dietary treatments with a 2-phase feeding program for 12 weeks. Pigs fed PRO had higher average daily gain (ADG; phase I, 866.38 vs. 821.75 g/d; overall, 910.96 vs. 866.30 g/d; p < 0.05) and gain to feed ratio (G:F; phase I, 0.345 vs. 0.363 g/g; p < 0.05) than those fed CON. However, there were no differences on blood constituents and carcass characteristics between CON and PRO of growing-finishing pigs. In conclusion, dietary protease supplementation in the typical diet for growing-finishing pigs improved growth rate.

In order to apply the fertilization manual to the open-field fertigation system, it is necessary to verify the crop productivity. This study was carried out to assess an appropriate nutrient supply ratio for fertigation in open-field green onion (Allium fistulosum L.) cultivation. In this study, we compared the crop nutrient uptake and soil chemical properties according to the type of basal fertilizer (inorganic fertilizer, organic fertilizer, compost) and the ratio of fertigation (A: N60%, K40%; B: N70%, K50%; C: N80%, K80%) through field experiment. All treatment plots were treated with the same amount of fertilizer, and it was applied according to soil test results. When the fertigation ratio was increased during the crop cultivation period, there was little change in soil EC, NO₃-N, Ex. K, and there was no statistically significant difference in crop yield regardless of the types of basal fertilizer and fertigation ratio. However, the nitrogen uptake of green onions tended to decrease with the increase of the fertigation ratio. In soils with a low nutrient content, if the basal fertilization amount is reduced, the nutrient deficiency in the early stage of crop growth may reduce crop productivity. Therefore, it is recommended to fertigation ratio of A (N60%, K40%) for green onion cultivation in the open-field.
