A Kernel-based Matrixzed One-Class Support Vector Machine

One-class support vector machine (OCSVM) is an important and efficient classifier used when only one class of data is available while others are too expensive or difficult to collect. It uses vector as input data, and trains a linear or nonlinear decision function in vector space. However, the traditional vector-based classifiers may fail when input is matrix. Therefore, it makes sense to study matrixzed classifiers which can make use of the structural information presented in the data. In this paper we propose a matrix-based one-class classification algorithm named Kernel-based Matrixzed One-class Support Vector Machine (KMatOCSVM). It aims to convert the OCSVM to suit for matrix representation data and to deal with nonlinear one-class classification problems. The efficiency and validity of the proposed method is illustrated by four real-world matrix-based human face datasets.
Uniform DNA Biosensors Based on Threshold Voltage of Carbon Nanotube Thin-Film Transistors

Uniformity is a key parameter to assure the accuracy of biosensor devices. In this work, highly uniform carbon nanotube thin-film transistors (CNT-TFTs) with a standard deviation of threshold voltage (Vth) as small as 0.04 were achieved by accurately controlling the fabrication process, which is so far the most stable distribution to our knowledge. On-state current (Ion), off-state current and on/off current ratio also exhibit high uniformity with low standard deviation of 0.50, 0.72 and 0.54, respectively. Given the high uniformity, high stability and high sensitivity, the CNT-TFTs are used as ultra-sensitive 5-hydroxymethyl cytosine (5-hmC) detecting devices for the first time, which is one of the important modified bases in DNA and plays an important role in epigenetics. After attachment of 5-hmC DNA, a reproducible and stable shift of 18.7–59% in Vth as well as a 31–54% change in Ion were observed in the transfer characteristics curves of CNT-TFTs. Thus, a detecting device of 5-hmC in DNA segments could be designed based on the highly uniform CNT-TFTs.
Image Enhancement based on Human Visual Model

This paper mainly study traditional histogram image enhancement method. Aiming at the lack of image enhancement, a method based on human visual model was proposed, and the experimental results show that this algorithm has better performance than is a traditional histogram equalization method, which provided a good direction studying image enhancement algorithm.

Engaging customers is a critical requirement for sharing economy platforms (SEPs) to sustain and grow their user base. Although the interactions between users who consume the service (customers) and those who provide it (peer service providers) are the primary source of SEPs’ economic value, little is known about the role of interactivity in driving customer engagement. This research links these two important concepts by theorizing and empirically testing the influence of different dimensions of interactivity (two-way communication, participation, joint problem-solving) on customer engagement (cognitive engagement, emotional engagement, behavioral engagement) in SEPs.
Decomposed Fliess Functional Expansion and Its Application to Attitude Control of Missiles

This paper investigates the Fliess functional expansion of input-output decomposable systems. It is proved that under suitable state feedback the closed-loop system has a Fliess functional expansion of finite terms. This form has two advantages: (1) providing a precise input-output mapping; (2) tremendously reducing the complexity of computation and making the online control design available. It is proved that the model of attitude control of missiles satisfies this decomposable requirement. Hence, the finite Fliess functional expansion technique is applicable to it. Detailed algorithm is provided for the design of attitute control.
Characterization of clutch traits and egg production in six chicken breeds

Objective: The better understanding of laying pattern of birds is crucial for developing breed-specific proper breeding scheme and management. Methods: Daily egg production until 50 wk of age of six chicken breeds including one layer (White Leghorn, WL), three dual-purpose (Rhode Island Red, RIR; Columbian Plymouth Rock, CR; and Barred Plymouth Rock, BR), one synthetic dwarf (DY), and one indigenous (Beijing-You Chicken, BYC) were used to characterize their clutch traits and egg production. The age at first egg, egg number, average and maximum clutch length, pause length, and number of clutches and pauses were calculated accordingly. Results: The egg number and average clutch length in WL, RIR, CR, and BR were higher than those in DY and BYC (p<0.01). The numbers of clutches and pauses, and pause length in WL, RIR, CR, and BR were lower than those in DY and BYC (p<0.01). The coefficient variations of clutch length in WL, RIR, CR, and BR (57.66%, 66.49%, 64.22%, and 55.35%, respectively) were higher than DY (41.84%) and BYC (36.29%), while the coefficient variations of egg number in WL, RIR, CR, and BR (9.10%, 9.97%, 10.82%, and 9.92%) were lower than DY (15.84%) and BYC (16.85%). The clutch length was positively correlated with egg number (r = 0.51 to 0.66; p<0.01), but not correlated with age at first egg in all breeds. Conclusion: The six breeds showed significant different clutch and egg production traits. Due to the selection history, the high and median productive layer breeds had higher clutch length than those of the less productive indigenous BYC. The clutch length is a proper selection criterion for further progress in egg production. The age at first egg, which is independent of clutch traits, is especially encouraged to be improved by selection in the BYC breed.
