Highly efficient carbon dioxide capture in diethylenetriamine-appended porous organic polymers: Investigation of structural variations of chloromethyl monomers

Yanqin Yang,Chong Yang Chuah,Tae-Hyun Bae 한국공업화학회 2020 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.88 No.-

Post-combustion CO2 capture from large point sources has been proposed as a promising technology toprevent growth of the level of atmospheric CO2 and thus restrict the progress of global warming. However, CO2 capture technology is economically unfeasible at present due to the high cost and largeenergy penalty. Therefore, the development of cost-effective CO2 capture technologies has attracted keeninterest. Herein, we develop a series of amine-functionalized adsorbents via one-step amine grafting ofcost-effective porous polymers containing unreacted chloromethyl groups, which are prepared fromfivedi- or trichloromethyl monomers via Friedel–Crafts alkylation. Among the adsorbents prepared, PTP-DETA possesses the highest CO2 uptake capacity and CO2/N2 selectivity owing to the highest amineloading. In contrast, the highly porous adsorbent PBP-DETA presents the fastest adsorption kinetics butpoorest CO2 capture performance. Nevertheless, subsequent breakthrough experiments revealed that allamine-functionalized adsorbents retain attractive CO2 adsorption properties under dynamicflowconditions even in the presence of moisture.

Black Bridge: Scatternet Formation Algorithm for Solving a New Emerging Problem

Guo, Minyi,Yang, Yanqin,Zhang, Gongwei,Tang, Feilong,Shen, Yao Korea Information Processing Society 2009 Journal of information processing systems Vol.5 No.4

Nowadays, it has become common to equip a device with Bluetooth. As such devices become pervasive in the world; much work has been done on forming them into a network, however, almost all the Bluetooth Scatternet Formation Algorithms assume devices are homogeneous. Even the exceptional algorithms barely mentioned a little about the different characteristics of devices like computational abilities, traffic loads for special nodes like bridge nodes or super nodes, which are usually the bottleneck in the scatternet. In this paper, we treat the devices differently not only based on the hardware characteristics, but also considering other conditions like different classes, different groups and so on. We use a two-phase Scatternet Formation Algorithm here: in the first phase, construct scatternets for a specified kind of devices; in the second phase, connect these scatternets by using least other kinds of devices as bridge nodes. Finally, we give some applications to show the benefit of classification.

High performance composite membranes comprising Zn(pyrz)2(SiF6) nanocrystals for CO2/CH4 separation

Heqing Gong,Chong Yang Chuah,Yanqin Yang,배태현 한국공업화학회 2018 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.60 No.-

Nanocsrystals of Zn(pyrz)2(SiF6) (or SIFSIX-3-Zn) metal-organic framework were synthesized by a facile sonochemical means and incorporated into a polyimide membrane to realize an excellent CO2/CH4 separation performance. Zn(pyrz)2(SiF6) nanocrystals selectively took up a large amount of CO2 even at low pressure while negligible uptake was observed for CH4. This implies that Zn(pyrz)2(SiF6) is an ideal filler to improve CO2/CH4 separation performance of polymer membrane via selective transport of CO2 over CH4. Subsequently, high-quality mixed-matrix membranes that are free of filler/polymer interfacial voids were successfully fabricated by employing house-made polyimide as a polymer matrix. Binary CO2/CH4 mixture gas permeation tests revealed that both CO2 permeability and CO2/CH4 selectivity of mixed-matrix membranes, especially for the membrane with 20 wt% filler loading, were significantly improved compared to those of pure polymeric membrane owing to the selective CO2 uptake and transport by Zn(pyrz)2(SiF6) crystals. As a result, a high performance surpassing the upper bound limit for polymeric membranes was achieved.

      • A management strategy for solar panel - battery - super capacitor hybrid energy system in solar car

        Bin Wu,Fang Zhuo,Fei Long,Weiwei Gu,Yang Qing,YanQin Liu 전력전자학회 2011 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2011 No.5

This paper presents an application of solar energy - battery - super-capacitor hybrid energy storage system in solar electric vehicles. The key point is the proposed energy management control algorithm. The entire system consists of a solar panel, a boost converter, a battery, a super capacitor, a bi-directional DC/DC converter, and a brushless DC motor. This paper gives the details of the control strategy to cooperate the three energy sources or storage devices: solar panel, battery and super capacitor. A hysteretic control algorithm for battery charging by solar panel is given. A novel control method for bi-directional DC/DC is proposed to keep the battery discharging current within a certain limit and make full use of super capacitor. The switching transient between super-capacitor charging mode and discharging mode is also presented. Both simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

Effects of Acupuncture at Zu-San-Li (ST36) on the Activity of the HypothalamicePituitaryeAdrenal Axis during Ethanol Withdrawal in Rats

        Zheng Lin Zhao,Bong Hyo Lee,Feng Lin,YanQin Guo,Yi Yan Wu,Sang Mi Park,Sunghyeon In,Sang Chan Kim,Chae Ha Yang,Rong Jie Zhao 사단법인약침학회 2014 Journal of Acupuncture & Meridian Studies Vol.7 No.5

The current study investigated the effects of acupuncture at Zu-San-Li (ST36) on the hypothalamicepituitaryeadrenalaxis during ethanol withdrawal in rats. Rats were intraperitoneallytreated with 3 g/kg/day of ethanol or saline for 28 days. Following 24 hours ofethanol withdrawal, acupuncture was applied at bilateral ST36 points or non-acupoints(tail) for 1 minute. Plasma levels of corticosterone (CORT) and adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH) were measured by radioimmunoassay (RIA), and the corticotropin-releasingfactor (CRF) protein levels in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus were alsoexamined by RIA 20 minutes after the acupuncture treatment. RIA showed significantlyincreased plasma levels of CORT and ACTH in the ethanol-withdrawn rats compared withthe saline-treated rats, which were inhibited significantly by the acupuncture at the acupointST36 but not at the non-acupoint. Additionally, ethanol withdrawal promoted CRFprotein expressions in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus, which were alsoblocked by the acupuncture at ST36. These findings suggest that acupuncture at the specific acupoint ST36 can inhibit ethanol withdrawal-induced hyperactivation of hypothalamicepituitaryeadrenalaxis, and it may be mediated via the modulation of hypothalamicCRF.
