Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between the number of days that hospital visits were postponed and changes in clinical parameters due to the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), after the Japanese government declared a state of emergency in April 2020. Methods: Regarding the status of postponement of appointments, we analyzed the patients who had visited the Nihon University Hospital at Matsudo for more than 1 year for supportive periodontal therapy (SPT) and classified them into low-, moderate- and high-risk subgroups according to the periodontal risk assessment (PRA). Clinical parameters for periodontal disease such as probing depth (PD), full-mouth bleeding score (FMBS), full-mouth plaque score, periodontal inflamed surface area (PISA), and periodontal epithelial surface area (PESA) were analyzed in 2 periods, from October 2019 to March 2020 and after April 2020. Correlation coefficients between days of deferral and the degree of changes in clinical parameters were calculated. Results: The mean age of the 749 patients was 67.56±10.85 years, and 63.82% were female. Out of 749 patients, 33.24% deferred their SPT appointments after April 2020. The average total of postponement days was 109.49±88.84. The number of postponement days was positively correlated with changes in average PD (rs=0.474) and PESA (rs=0.443) in the high-risk subgroup of FMBS, and average PD (rs=0.293) and PESA (rs=0.253) in the highrisk subgroup of tooth number (TN). Patients belonging to the high-risk subgroups for both FMBS and TN had a positive correlation between postponement days and PISA (rs=0.56). Conclusions: The findings, the spread of COVID-19 appears to have extended the visit interval for some SPT patients. Moreover, longer visit intervals were correlated with the worsening of some clinical parameters for SPT patients with high PRA.

Two new fungal metabolites with pressor effect, avellanine A and B, were isolated from Hamigera avellanea and their structures were found to be cyclo-(N-methyl-D-phenylanyl-D-alanyl-L-isoleucyl-2-aminobenzoyl-L-prolyl) and cyclo-(N-methylphenylalanyl-alanylvalyl-2-aminobenzoyl-prolyl), respectively.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the “Epistle Sent from the United Church of Christ in Japan to Christians in the Great East Asia Coprosperity Sphere” issued in 1944. This paper will survey the historical background and contents of the Epistle and compare its message with the theology of Karl Barth (1886-1968), which the Japanese theologians drew on to compose the Epistle. It will be argued that the Epistle, while adopting expressions and themes from Barth``s works, especially his commentary on Philippians, distorted Barth``s own theological and political intentions in order to serve Japan``s wartime policies. Theologically, the major factor that led the Japanese Church to her regrettable wartime compromises and sins was her lack of absolute obedience to the First Commandment. This case study illustrates how Reformed Life Theology, with its emphasis on the relevance of theology to life and faith, the lordship of Jesus Christ, and the service of theology to the world, can contribute to the important issue of the Church``s relationship to the state.

We examined the correlations between lactation curve shape, including persistency and changes in body condition score (BCS) during early-stage (0 to 30 days in milk (DIM)), nadir-stage (31 to 90 DIM), and late-stage (91 to 240 DIM) lactation in 191 first-lactation cows. Data used were first-parity BCS records, scored twice every month after calving, and daily milk yields. Individual lactation curves were depicted by the Wilmink function. Lactation persistency was defined as the difference in estimated milk yields between 240 DIM and 60 DIM. Changes in BCSs in the early and late stages were defined as linear regression coefficients. There were no significant correlations between traits for lactation curve shape and change in BCS in early-stage lactation. Peak yield and total milk yield were negatively correlated with BCSs in nadir- and late-stage lactation and with BCS change in late-stage lactation, suggesting that cows with high lactation yields had low body reserves and health status in mid- to late lactation and had delayed recovery of body reserves. Lactation persistency was positively correlated with change in BCS in late-stage lactation, suggesting that cows with high lactation persistency tended to be healthy and to recover their body reserves well in late lactation.
Stray Load Loss Analysis of Canned Induction Motor for Hermetic Compressor

In this paper, we investigate the main components of stray load loss of induction motors for ammonia compressors. The variations of the losses at each part of the motor due to load are calculated by the combined 3-D-2D finite element method formulated by the mixed moving coordinate systems. The stray load loss is calculated from these results due the definition of IEEE standard-112. It is clarified that the core loss and the eddy current loss of the can increase due to load, which can be considered as the main part of the stray load loss.
