        Human Emotion and Perception of Nature in John Burroughs’s Wake-Robin

        The paper examines the relationship between humans and nature in John Burroughs’s Wake-Robin by focusing on human emotion and perception of nature. It also studies the role of nature writing by tracing the history of American nature writing. To understand the dynamics of perception and emotion in nature writing, Wake-Robin is used as an example to illustrate how different forms of nature, such as birds, flora, and fauna, interact with the human psyche. Burroughs also uses nature, birds and their daily activities, forest, and rivers to stress the importance of respecting and protecting the ecosystem. He employs an emotional language and creates different images of nature that help readers to feel attached not only to humans but non-humans.

      • New Media Music Theatre Phenomenon: Take Alexander Schubert Star Me Kitten as Example

        리듬 새로운 미디어 기술의 발전과 함께, 전자 음악의 창작이나 기획에서 전통적인 무대 공연의 “단조로움”이 사라지고 있다. 대신에, “청각과 시각을 종합”한 새로운 형태의 예술이 “음향과 조명, 그림자 효과” 같은 기술적 수단을 활용한 다차원의 오디오-비주얼적 공간 관계 속에서 만들어진다. 이러한 다차원적 예술 양식은 전자음악의 발전에 도움이 될 뿐 아니라 새로운 방식의 “음악극<SUB>music theatre</SUB>” 현상도 이끌어내었다. 이 글은 청각과 시각의 통합적 예술효과를 사용하는 현대 독일 뉴미디어 작곡가, 알렉산더 슈베르트<SUB>Alexander Schubert</SUB>의 “스타미키튼 <SUB>Star Me Kitten</SUB>”에 대한 것이다. 이 논문의 목적은 다음의 현상을 보여주기 위함이다; 멀티미디어 기술이 진화를 계속함에 따라, 현대의 전자음악 작품을 창작하거나 고안할 때 여러 미디어를 상호작용시키거나 결합하는 작업을 추진하게 되었다. 시청각적 통합을 특징으로 하는 이 “극 양식”의 예술작품은 “몰입적인” 예술적 경험을 계속해서 강화하고 있다. 동시에, 오늘날의 음악작품이 여러 새로운 차원의 시청각적 면을 포함하여 제작되는 사고적 관점을 만들고 있다. With the development of the new media technology, the creation and design of electronic music have got rid of the “monotonicity” of traditional stage performances. Instead, a new style of art with the characteristics of “audio-visual integration” is built in the multi-dimensional audio-visual spatial relationship through technical means such as the “sound, light, and shadow.” This pluralistic art style not only promotes the development of electronic music but also provokes a new style of art, “music theatre.” This paper is based on Star Me Kitten by Alexander Schubert, a contemporary German new media composer, which exhibits an integral audio-visual art effect. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the following; As multimedia technology keeps evolving, the creation and design of contemporary electronic music works begin to use the interaction and fusion of multiple media. The “theatre-style” artworks, with the audio-visual integration design as its feature, are constantly strengthening the “immersive” art experience. At the same time, they are becoming a thinking mode in the creation of today’s music works with various new audio-visual dimensions.

        Identification and Characterization of a Novel Angiotensin Iconverting Enzyme Inhibitory Peptide (ACEIP) from Silkworm Pupa

        The angiotensin I-converting enzyme inhibitorypeptide (ACEIP) was isolated and characterized fromsilkworm pupae and purified using Sephadex G-25 gelfiltration. The structure and physicochemical properties ofpupa ACEIP were analyzed. The α-P3 fraction exhibitedthe most potent ACE inhibitory activity. After purificationvia semi-preparative reverse-phase HPLC (RP-HPLC) andHPLC, the α-P3-6-b component was revealed to have thehighest ACE inhibitory activity (IC50=28.3 μg/mL). Edmandegradation revealed a Val-Glu-Ile-Ser amino acid sequencein which novel active sequences were identified. Physicochemicalproperty testing showed that purified pupaACEIP exhibits good solubility, heat resistance, and acidresistance that all indicate ACEIP derived from silkwormpupa is an excellent food-derived ACEIP.

        Preparation and properties of Nd-doped BCTH lead-free ceramics by solid-phase twin crystal method

        0.5 mol% Nd-doped (Ba0.85Ca0.15)(Ti0.9Hf0.1)O3 (BCTH-Nd) lead-free ceramics were prepared by a solid-phase twin crystal method, where the effects of sintering condition on structure, electrical and optical properties were studied. All the sintered BCTH-Nd ceramics exhibit pure perovskite structure, dense microstructure with several micron grain size, which tends to increase with elevating sintering temperature. All synthesized ceramics have complex dielectric behavior, which presents normal ferroelectrics characteristic with slight dispersion phenomenon. The BCTH-Nd ceramics exhibit excellent piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties and acceptable dielectric performance when sintered at 1480 ◦C for 2 h. Under 269 nm light excitation, several fluorescent emission peaks are excited with a whole indigo fluorescence, where the strongest emission peak is emitted at 473 nm, corresponding to the 4G3/2 → 4I9/2 energy level transition of Nd3+. Multifunctional performance is fulfilled in the lead-free BCTH ceramics via rare earth doping, which can broaden the application fields of piezoelectricbased materials.

        양계초(梁啟超)의 근대조선에 대한 인식 약론

        19세기 중후기는 동아시아 3국 즉 중국, 일본, 조선이 보수적인 사회에서 근대로 전환하는 관건적인 시기였다. 의식형태 영역의 신(新), 구(舊) 교체과정 중에서 양계초는 국제발전 패턴에 관심을 갖는 정론가(政論家)로서 조선의 국정에 대하여 관심을 갖고 있었으며 1896년부터 1911년까지 조선에 관한 문장들을 여러 편 발표하였다. 본 논문에서는 조선에 관련된 양계초의 논저(論著)들을 기초로, 연대별로 나누어 양계초의 근대조선에 대한 인식의 표면적인 현상으로부터 본질로 들어가는 변화과정 및 조선 문제 관심의 본질에 대하여 검토하려 한다. Since the mid-19th century,China,Japan and Korea have been in a critical period of transition from tradition to modern. In the ideological sphere,it showed transition from the old to the new situation.As a famous political critic,Liang Qichao had always focused on international development, especially had paid attention on the situation of Korea. From 1896 to 1911, he published many articles about Korea. On the basis of deeply reading Liang Qichao’s articles,this paper discuss the evolution of Liang Qichao’s understanding of Modern Korea and the essence of his view of Korea.

        Fault analysis of CNC equipment based on DEMATEL/ISM/ANP

        To make a reasonable reliability improvement strategy for CNC equipment, it is necessary to clearly understand the fault relation characteristics and the weak links of reliability. While the fault complexity of CNC equipment makes the fault relation characteristics unclear, it is very difficult to determine the weak link of reliability. Therefore, a fault analysis method for CNC equipment based on decision-making and trial evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL)/ interpretive structure modeling (ISM)/analytic network process (ANP) is proposed in this study to describe the relationship between CNC equipment faults accurately and identify reliability weaknesses. First, the fault mechanism was analyzed by the fault phenomenon, and the fault factors of the CNC equipment were identified in view of the system. Second, DEMATEL/ISM/ ANP method was adopted to integrate the interaction direction and intensity between the failure factors, hierarchical structure of the factors, and their relative importance, and a hierarchical network structure model for CNC equipment fault factors was built. Finally, according to the analysis results of the aforementioned model, the fault factors of the CNC equipment were divided into drive, link, dependence, and independent fault factors, and the identification of the weak link of reliability was completed. Results show that the proposed method can quantify the fault factors of the CNC equipment and clearly identify the main direction of its reliability improvement.

        Robust, fatigue resistant, self-healing and antifreeze ionic conductive supramolecular hydrogels for wearable flexible sensors

        Ionic conductive hydrogel-based sensors have been capturing growing attention in various areas, but stillcannot satisfy the operating requirements of next generation wearable electronics. Herein, inspired bybiosystems, we demonstrate ionic conductive supramolecular hydrogels with simple one-step methodbased on salting-out effect and multiple hydrogen bond interactions. The supramolecular hydrogels exhibithigh toughness and strength, quick self-recovery, high sensitive sensing performance as well as goodself-healing, fatigue and frost resistances in mechanical and sensing properties, and can monitor largeand subtle movements and physiological activities of the human body sensitively, quickly and stably. Thus, it provides a convenient and promising way to obtain stretchable sensors of excellent comprehensiveproperties, which have tremendous application potential as wearable electronic devices in harshenvironments.

        Fertility and prognosis assessment between bleomycin/etoposide/cisplatin and paclitaxel/carboplatin chemotherapy regimens in the conservative treatment of malignant ovarian germ cell tumors: a multicenter and retrospective study

        Objective: To evaluate the impact of bleomycin/etoposide/cisplatin (BEP) and paclitaxel/carboplatin (PC) chemotherapy regimens on the fertility and prognostic outcomes in malignant ovarian germ cell tumor (MOGCT) patients who underwent fertility-sparing surgery (FSS). Methods: A propensity score matching algorithm was performed between the BEP and PC groups. The χ2 test and the Kaplan-Meier method were used to compare the fertility outcome, disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). The Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was used to identify risk factor of DFS. Results: We included 213 patients, 185 (86.9%) underwent BEP chemotherapy, and 28 (13.1%) underwent PC chemotherapy. The median age was 22 years (range, 8–44 years), and the median follow-up period was 63 months (range, 2–191 months). Fifty-one (29.3%) patients had a pregnancy plan, and 35 (85.4%) delivered successfully. In the before and after propensity score matching cohorts, there were no significant differences in spontaneous abortion, selective termination of pregnancy, during-pregnancy status, and live birth between the BEP and PC groups (p>0.05). Fourteen (6.6%) patients experienced recurrence, including 11 (5.9%) in the BEP group and 3 (10.7%) in the PC group. Four (1.9%) patients in the BEP group died. Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed no significant differences in DFS (p=0.328) and OS (p=0.446) between the BEP and PC groups, and the same survival results were observed in the after matching cohort. Conclusion: The PC regimen is as safe as the BEP regimen for MOGCT patients with fertility preservation treatment, and no differences were observed in fertility and clinical prognosis.
