The Effect of Mn/Al Substitution on the Structural Stability and Magnetic Properties of Mn₃AlC
Xin-You Wang,Ping-Zhan Si,Hui-Dong Qian,Yang Yang,Hong-Liang Ge,Jihoon Park,Xin-Qing Wang,Chul-Jin Choi 한국자기학회 2019 Journal of Magnetics Vol.24 No.1
The structural stability and magnetic properties of Mn3+xAl1-xC antiperovskite with varied Mn/Al substitution were studied systematically. Single phase Mn3+xAl1-xC alloys with antiperovskite structure were obtained in samples with x = −1/4, 0, 1/4, 1/2. An additional Mn23C₆ phase was precipitated from Mn3+xAl1-xC antiperovskite for x = 3/4 while Mn23C₆ phase was formed as major phase for x = 1. The mutual substitution of Mn and Al atoms has substantial effect on the Curie temperature and the saturation magnetization of the Mn3+xAl1-xC alloys. In comparison with the as-cast alloys, the as-annealed Mn3+xAl1-xC alloys exhibit reduced Mn/Al substitutions after high temperature homogenization, which enhances the ordering of Mn and Al atoms in the lattices. The Curie temperature of the homogenized Mn3+xAl1-xC increases with increasing Mn substitution to Al. The Mn₃AlC alloy shows the highest saturation magnetization among all samples with varied Mn/Al ratios. Most samples show zero coercivity and zero remanent magnetization. The maximum value of the magnetic entropy changes of Mn2.75Al1.25C at 285 K is 2.26 J/㎏ K in fields up to 3 T.
Evaluations of some quadratic Euler sums
Xin Si,Ce Xu 대한수학회 2020 대한수학회보 Vol.57 No.2
This paper develops an approach to the evaluation of quadratic Euler sums that involve harmonic numbers. The approach is based on simple integral computations of polylogarithms. By using the approach, we establish some relations between quadratic Euler sums and linear sums. Furthermore, we obtain some closed form representations of quadratic sums in terms of zeta values and linear sums. The given representations are new.

<P>Correlations between physical properties linking film quality with wet etch rate (WER), one of the leading figures of merit, in plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) grown silicon nitride (SiN<I>x</I>) films remain largely unresearched. Achieving a low WER of a SiN<I>x</I> film is especially significant in its use as an etch stopper for technology beyond 7 nm node semiconductor processing. Herein, we explore the correlation between the hydrogen concentration, hydrogen bonding states, bulk film density, residual impurity concentration, and the WERs of PEALD SiN<I>x</I> using Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, X-ray reflectivity, and spectroscopic ellipsometry, etc. PEALD SiN<I>x</I> films for this study were deposited using hexachlorodisilane and hollow cathode plasma source under a range of process temperatures (270-360 °C) and plasma gas compositions (N2/NH3 or Ar/NH3) to understand the influence of hydrogen concentration, hydrogen bonding states, bulk film density, and residual impurity concentration on the WER. Varying hydrogen concentration and differences in the hydrogen bonding states resulted in different bulk film densities and, accordingly, a variation in WER. We observe a linear relationship between hydrogen bonding concentration and WER as well as a reciprocal relationship between bulk film density and WER. Analogous to the PECVD SiN<I>x</I> processes, a reduction in hydrogen bonding concentration arises from either (1) thermal activation or (2) plasma excited species. However, unlike the case with silane (SiH4)-based PECVD SiN<I>x</I>, PEALD SiN<I>x</I> WERs are affected by residual impurities of Si precursors (i.e., chlorine impurity). Thus, possible wet etching mechanisms in HF in which the WER is affected by hydrogen bonding states or residual impurities are proposed. The shifts of amine basicity in SiN<I>x</I> due to different hydrogen bonding states and the changes in Si electrophilicity due to Cl impurity content are suggested as the main mechanisms that influence WER in the PEALD processes.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Ascorbic Acid Alleviates Pancreatic Damage Induced by Dibutyltin Dichloride (DBTC) in Rats
Xin-Liang Lu,Yan-Hua Song,Yan-Biao Fu,Jian-Min Si,Ke-Da Qian 연세대학교의과대학 2007 Yonsei medical journal Vol.48 No.6
Purpose: Because previous studies have reported depleted antioxidant capacity in patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP), prevention of free radical production has gained importance in antifibrotic treatment strategies for CP. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ascorbic acid on oxidative capacity and pancreatic damage in experimental CP. Materials and Methods: CP was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats by infusion of dibutyltin dichloride (DBTC) into the tail vein. Ascorbic acid was given intraperitoneally at a daily dose of 10mg/kg body weight. The treatment groups were as follows: group 1, DBTC plus intraperitoneal physiologic saline; group 2, DBTC plus intraperitoneal ascorbic acid; group 3, solvent plus intraperitoneal physiologic saline; group 4, no operation plus intraperitoneal physiologic saline. Each group contained 15 animals. Treatment was started after CP was established. After 4 weeks of treatment, serum hyaluronic acid and laminin levels were determined by radioimmunoassay, pancreatic tissue oxidative stress was analyzed, and the degree of pancreatic damage was determined. Results: Ascorbic acid treatment markedly increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) concentrations in pancreatic tissue (p<0.01 for both). Significant serum hyaluronic acid and laminin reductions were observed in group 2 as compared with group 1 (p<0.05). However, the serum hyaluronic acid and laminin levels remained elevated when compared with those of groups 3 and 4 (p<0.05). Histopathologic scores were also lower in animals with CP that underwent ascorbic acid-treatment (p<0.05). Conclusion: Ascorbic acid treatment alleviated the degree of oxidative stress and pancreatic damage in rat CP. Antioxidant treatment might be considered a potential option to improve the pathologic process in CP.
Nonviral delivery systems for antisense oligonucleotide therapeutics
Si Huang,Xin-Yan Hao,Yong-Jiang Li,Jun-Yong Wu,Da-Xiong Xiang,Shilin Luo 한국생체재료학회 2022 생체재료학회지 Vol.26 No.4
Antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) are an important tool for the treatment of many genetic disorders. However, similar to other gene drugs, vectors are often required to protect them from degradation and clearance, and to accomplish their transport in vivo. Compared with viral vectors, artificial nonviral nanoparticles have a variety of design, synthesis, and formulation possibilities that can be selected to accomplish protection and delivery for specific applications, and they have served critical therapeutic purposes in animal model research and clinical applications, allowing safe and efficient gene delivery processes into the target cells. We believe that as new ASO drugs develop, the exploration for corresponding nonviral vectors is inevitable. Intensive development of nonviral vectors with improved delivery strategies based on specific targets can continue to expand the value of ASO therapeutic approaches. Here, we provide an overview of current nonviral delivery strategies, including ASOs modifications, action mechanisms, and multi-carrier methods, which aim to address the irreplaceable role of nonviral vectors in the progressive development of ASOs delivery.

The pabS gene of Agaricus bisporus 02 encoding a putative PABA synthase was cloned, and then the recombinant protein was expressed in Escherichia coli BL21 under the control of the T7 promoter. The enzyme with an N-terminal GST tag or His tag, designated GST-AbADCS or His-AbADCS, was purified with glutathione Sepharose 4B or Ni Sepharose 6 Fast Flow. The enzyme was an aminodeoxychorismate synthase, and it was necessary to add with an aminodeoxychorismate lyase for synthesizing PABA. AbADCS has maximum activity at a temperature of approximately 25oC and pH 8.0. Magnesium or manganese ions were necessary for the enzymatic activity. The Michaelis-Menten constant for chorismate was 0.12 mM, and 2.55 mM for glutamine. H2O2 did distinct damage on the activity of the enzyme, which could be slightly recovered by Hsp20. Sulfydryl reagents could remarkably promote its activity, suggesting that cysteine residues are essential for catalytic function.
