        Effect of different thawing methods on the quality of mackerel (Pneumatophorus japonicus)

        Five thawing methods such as flow waterthawing, ultrasonic flowing water thawing, air thawing,microwave thawing and low temperature thawing wereused, and the physical, chemical properties and structure ofmackerels after thawing were assessed. The results showedthat the low temperature thawing had the best waterretention, lower protein and fat oxidation. The microwavethawing had the shortest thawing time, but uneven heatingleads to partial maturation. Air thawing prolonged exposureto air leads to high levels of protein and fat oxidation. The flow water thawing had better water retention than thatof the ultrasonic flowing water thawing, only the thawingtime was slightly longer than that of the ultrasonic flowingwater thawing. In general, the low temperature thawingperformed well after thawing. The flow water thawing usedonly 1/43 of the low temperature thawing’s elapsed timeafter sacrificing some acceptable qualities. Thus, flowwater thawing is more suitable for thawing frozenmackerel.

        A novel method for the discrimination of Hawthorn and its processed products using an intelligent sensory system and artificial neural networks

        Hawthorn (CFS) has commonly been applied as an important traditional Chinese medicine and food for thousands of years. The raw material of CFS is commonly processed by stir-frying to obtain yellow (CFY), dark brown (CFD), and carbon dark (CFC) colored products, which are used for different clinical uses. In this study, an intelligent sensory system (ISS) was used to obtain the color, gas, and flavor samples data, which were further employed to develop a novel and accurate method for the identification of CFS and its processed products using principal component analysis. Moreover, this research developed a model of an artificial neural network, which could be used to predict the total organic acid, total flavonoids, citric acid, hyperin, and 5-hydroxymethyl furfural via determination of the color, odor, and taste of a sample. In conclusion, the ISS and the artificial neural network are useful tools for rapid, accurate, and effective discrimination of CFS and its processed products.

      • Research on Three Dimensional Reconstruction of Plant Root Based on spatial Geometry Structure and Morphology Architecture Parameters

        The root plays an important role in the ecosystem of plants. In order to solve the problem that to measure the root is difficult, this article proposes the three dimensional morphology model of plant root based on spatial geometry structure and morphology architecture parameters, and realize the three dimensional visualization of root. First, constructing three dimensional display model including root axis growing model, branch geometry model and root axis curve model; then combining topological structure of root, we confirm corresponding pixel, using morphology characteristic parameters outputted by root morphology to conduct the three dimensional reconstruction of root. Finally, we realize the visualization expression of plant root, basing on the VTK simulation software. The result of simulation, for establishing the whole visualization plant growing root further, lays technical foundation.

        Negative Corona Onset Characteristic of the UHV Conductors Based on the Corona Cage

        Negative corona onset characteristics of the stranded conductors based on the ultra-high voltage (UHV) corona cage were studied in the paper. Based on the corona self-sustaining criterion in extreme uneven electric fields and the secondary emission process of the photoelectrons, the corona onset calculation model in the UHV corona cage is established and the corona current tests of the single LGJ900-75, 6 bundle LGJ900-75, 8 bundle LGJ400-35 conductors in dry and rain conditions were done in the UHV corona cage, and the rain rates are 2.4 mm/h, 20 mm/h and 30 mm/h. Corona onset electric field strength is gained by E-I tangent method, and the onset electric field strength in dry condition proves that the calculation model can be used to calculate the corona onset characteristics of the bundle conductors in the UHV corona cage. A further analysis proves that: the negative corona onset voltage of the conductor increases with the bundle number and the diameter of the sub conductor, but decreases with the bundle space in the corona cage. The onset electric field strength is influenced little by bundle space and bundle number, but decreases with the increase of the diameter of the sub-conductor. The surface irregularity coefficient decreases with the rain rate.

        SOOT DEVELOPMENT IN AN OPTICAL DIRECT INJECTION SPARK IGNITION ENGINE FUELED WITH ISOOCTANE

        To better understand the formation and evolution processes of soot, the two-color laser induced incandescence diagnostic method was applied on a single cylinder optical direct injection spark ignition engine. Soot volume fraction was measured, and soot distribution was imaged as cyclic fuel quantity changes. The results show that 45.5 mg/cycle generates the most soot at the same measure plane. Pool fire dominates the formation of soot in the tested engine and generates more soot on the top surface of the piston near the injector. In-cylinder soot increases until 42°CA ATDC and then reduces due to oxidation. Pool fire continues through the expansion stroke till 52°CA ATDC, and then soot cloud gathers near the 10 mm plane. After 82°CA ATDC, in-cylinder soot basically in equilibrium, and residual soot moves follow the in-cylinder flow randomly and evenly distributes within the whole combustion chamber. With increasing cyclic fuel quantity, particles number concentration gradually increases and their distribution present dual-peak shape. In detail, 45.5 mg/cycle emits the most accumulation mode particles while 52 mg/cycle emits the most nucleation mode particles.

        Rheological Phase Synthesis of Er-Doped LiV3O8 as Electroactive Material for a Cathode of Secondary Lithium Storage

        Er-doped LiV3O8 as cathode material for secondary lithium batteries was prepared through a rheological phase reaction method. The as-prepared materials were investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and galvanostatic discharge/charge measurements. The results indicate that Er doped phase preserves the layered structure of the pristine LiV3O8 and has an enlarged interlayer spacing. Compared to LiV3O8 sample, Er-doped LiV3O8 sample displays more uniform particles and large surface area. The electrochemical test shows that Er doping does not change the process of Li+ insertion/deinsertion. Er-doped LiV3O8 electrode exhibits an initial discharge capacity of 294.2 mAh g−1 and maintains a stable capacity of 220.7 mAh g−1 after 50 cycles, indicating a greatly improved good cycleability comparing with the undoped one.

        MiR-1224-5p modulates osteogenesis by coordinating osteoblast/osteoclast differentiation via the Rap1 signaling target ADCY2

        MicroRNAs (miRNAs) broadly regulate normal biological functions of bone and the progression of fracture healing and osteoporosis. Recently, it has been reported that miR-1224-5p in fracture plasma is a potential therapy for osteogenesis. To investigate the roles of miR-1224-5p and the Rap1 signaling pathway in fracture healing and osteoporosis development and progression, we used BMMs, BMSCs, and skull osteoblast precursor cells for in vitro osteogenesis and osteoclastogenesis studies. Osteoblastogenesis and osteoclastogenesis were detected by ALP, ARS, and TRAP staining and bone slice resorption pit assays. The miR-1224-5p target gene was assessed by siRNA-mediated target gene knockdown and luciferase reporter assays. To explore the Rap1 pathway, we performed high-throughput sequencing, western blotting, RT-PCR, chromatin immunoprecipitation assays and immunohistochemical staining. In vivo, bone healing was judged by the cortical femoral defect, cranial bone defect and femoral fracture models. Progression of osteoporosis was evaluated by an ovariectomy model and an aged osteoporosis model. We discovered that the expression of miR-1224-5p was positively correlated with fracture healing progression. Moreover, in vitro, overexpression of miR-1224-5p slowed Rankl-induced osteoclast differentiation and promoted osteoblast differentiation via the Rap1-signaling pathway by targeting ADCY2. In addition, in vivo overexpression of miR-1224-5p significantly promoted fracture healing and ameliorated the progression of osteoporosis caused by estrogen deficiency or aging. Furthermore, knockdown of miRNA-1224-5p inhibited bone regeneration in mice and accelerated the progression of osteoporosis in elderly mice. Taken together, these results identify miR-1224-5p as a key bone osteogenic regulator, which may be a potential therapeutic target for osteoporosis and fracture nonunion.

        Structure modification and numerical study of the moisture-separation performance of special crossunder pipe separators for nuclear power steam turbines

        The present paper investigated the enhancement of moisture-separation efficiency for ordinary special crossunder pipe separators(SCRUPSs) and proposed three structure-modified separators (combined separator, Z-shaped SCRUPSs, and spiral-type SCRUPSs). Deposition mechanisms for droplets with different sizes were considered using commercial CFD flow solver. Results show that threestructuremodified separators can increase droplet deposition rate to varying degrees. Regarding flow losses, spiral-type SCRUPSs causethe highest increase, with a total pressure loss coefficient of 231%, although it has the best deposition rate improvement. Among the threestructure-modified separators, "Z" shape separator has the best separation performance because of its higher moisture-separation efficiencyand lower total pressure loss efficiency. Results could provide theoretical basis for research on and development of this new typeof moisture separator.
