Vol.16 No.4

(Background and Purpose) Neighborhood parks are places where the elderly can easily access and perform various physical activities without without financial burden and are urban facilities where they can improve physical strength and maintain health. However, many parks in Korea are built according to the subjective and uniform design standards of the landscape designers, so there are many inconveniences for the elderly to use them. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to select the assessment indicators in order promote park use the elderly as a place for maintaining health, to analyze the perception of park environment by applying the indicators targeting the neighborhood parks of Daegu Metropolitan City, and to explore the differences in perception of park environment according to the individual characteristics. (Method) The study areas were Jung-gu, Dong-gu, Nam-gu, and Seo-gu of Daegu, where the ratio of the elderly population was 14% or more and one neighborhood park was selected for each administrative district. The assessment indicators of park environment were selected based on 10 previous studies and brainstorming and the questionnaire survey was conducted in two rounds for the elderly. Descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, T-test, and F-test (Scheffe’s method) were used to analyze the questionnaire data. (Results) Through the review and brainstorming related to the park environment from the perspective of the elderly, a total of 20 indicators were selected such as 'various exercise facilities', 'safety of exercise facilities', 'enough resting facilities', and 'convenience of resting facilities'. As a result of analyzing the perception of the elderly's park environment based on the 290 survey data, the indicators such as 'distance to the park', 'area of green space', 'shade by trees', and 'convenience of walk' had a high environmental level of 4.0 or more. On the other hand, the indicators such as 'horticultural support space', 'various attractions', and 'linkage with welfare facilities' were evaluated at a low environmental level of 3.2 points or less. In addition, as a result of analyzing the difference in perception of park environment according to the individual characteristics of the elderly, the differences according to gender, age group, education level, and income level were analyzed statistically significant. Women rather than men perceived the overall park environment more positively. Those in their 60s had positive perceptions of dynamic facilities and those in their 80s had positive perceptions of static facilities. (Conclusions) The findings from this study will be meaningful basic data to carry out a remodeling for a neighborhood park or a project for improving the neighborhood environment in the elderly concentration area.

      • Pc(4380) in a constituent quark model

        Park, Woosung,Park, Aaron,Cho, Sungtae,Lee, Su Houng American Physical Society 2017 Physical Review D Vol.95 No.5

<P>The constituent quark model with color-spin hyperfine potential is used to investigate the property of a compact pentaquark configuration with J(p) = 3/2(-) and isospin = 1/2, which is the most likely quantum number of one of the recently observed exotic baryon states at LHCb. Starting from the characterization of the isospin circle times color circle times and spin states for the pentaquark configuration, we construct the total wave function composed of the spatial wave function, which we take to be symmetric and in S wave, and the four orthogonal isospin. color. spin states that satisfy the Pauli principle. We then use the variational method to find a compact stable configuration. While there are compact configurations where the hyperfine potential is more attractive than the sum of p and J/psi. hyperfine potentials, we find that the ground state is the isolated p and J/psi. state. Furthermore, the mass of the excited state lies far above the observed pentaquark state leading us to conclude that the observed states cannot be a compact configuration with J(p) = 3/2(-), generated by the conventional two-body quark interactions.</P>

Slagging of petroleum coke ash using Korean anthracites

Woosung Park,Myongsook S. Oh 한국공업화학회 2008 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.14 No.3

Gasification of petroleum coke can present a problem with ash accumulation inside a gasifier because of the high melting temperature of V₂O₃. For slagging of V₂O₃ it was proposed to mix petroleum coke and Korean anthracite. The ash viscosities of two domestic anthracites (government reserve coal mix and Jangsung anthracite) were determined, along with the necessary flux concentrations. Both coal ashes had very high viscosities, and although both CaO and dolomite were effective in lowering the viscosity, dolomite was more effective than lime. V₂O₃ in coke ash remained solid at typical gasification temperatures, and the solid V₂O₃caused the slag viscosity to increase.Slag equilibrium calculations were carried out using FactSage. The difference between experimentally determined Tcv and Tliq predicted by FactSage was less than 20℃, when the accurate ash composition was provided, proving that Tcv can be estimated by Tliq. Using calculated Tliq, the amount of flux necessary was determined for a given minimum gasification temperature and coke:coal mixing ratio. In order to keep the flux concentration to a minimum, it is recommended to use a 90:10 mixture of coke:Jangsung coal with dolomite flux and to operate the gasifier at a temperature above 1370℃.

      • Masses of the doubly heavy tetraquarks in a constituent quark model

        Park, Woosung,Noh, Sungsik,Lee, Su Houng Elsevier 2019 Nuclear physics. A Vol.983 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We perform a constituent quark model analysis for the masses of the doubly heavy tetraquark states T Q Q after we fix the parameters to fit the masses of the newly observed Ξ c c + + and hadrons involving heavy quarks relevant to the stability of these states. We investigate in detail how the relative distances between quark pairs vary as we change the quark content and how they affect the various contributions to the total tetraquark masses. We also find that our full calculations give in general less binding compared to simplified quark model calculations that treat quark dynamics inside the tetraquark the same as that inside a baryon. We trace the main origin to be the differences in the number of relative kinetic energies which increases as one goes from meson, baryon and tetraquarks. We also compare our new results with previous works using less constrained parameters and find that the tetraquark state T b b ( u d b ¯ b ¯ ) and T b b ( u s b ¯ b ¯ ) are bound by 121 MeV and 7 MeV, respectively.</P>

      • Mass of heavy-light mesons in a constituent quark picture with partially restored chiral symmetry

        Park, Aaron,Gubler, Philipp,Harada, Masayasu,Lee, Su Houng,Nonaka, Chiho,Park, Woosung American Physical Society 2016 Physical review. D Vol.93 No.5

<P>We probe effects of the partial chiral symmetry restoration to the mass of heavy-light mesons in a constituent quark model by changing the constituent quark mass of the light quark. Due to the competing effect between the quark mass and the linearly rising potential, whose contribution to the energy increases as the quark mass decreases, the heavy-light meson mass has a minimum value near the constituent quark mass typically used in the vacuum. Hence, the meson mass increases as one decreases the constituent quark mass consistent with recent QCD sum rule analyses, which show an increasing D meson mass as the chiral order parameter decreases.</P>
