Objectives: The object of this study is to report on the theory of Ohaeng-Hwa Acupuncture Therapy. Methods: The theory of Ohaeng-Hwa Acupuncture Therapy(OHAT; 五行和針法) is a part of the Five Elements Theory unique to Korea. This research Classic of Difficulty Issues-Nan Jing review Ohaeng-Hwa Acupuncture Therapy. Results: OHAT, created and developed by Jae-hoon Song, integrates the victor-vanquished as well as the son-mother relationship of the Five Elements of breakdown and restoration of balance between yin and yang. And also, it provides resources and data on The seventy fifth Nan(75難), The sixty ninth Nan(69難) of Classic of Difficulty Issues-Nan Jin 75, 69. OHAT establishes objectiveness and accuracy of diagnosis based upon the traditional method and procedure of pulse taking. In OHAT, a person`s state of illness is diagnosed by applying the comparative examination of the palpitation of the pulse. It is the fact that the pulse varies according to the state, and that OHAT treatment has proven the positive results by using the victor-vanquished relationship on The Nan Jin 75. On the basis of this, it is necessary to add the sixty ninth Nan(69難), to research the theory of the generation of the Five Element. Conclusions: Ohaeng-Hwa Acupuncture is very effective in treating the wide range of illness, and thus it has gained an increasing attention of many scholars and practitioners in the field of traditional Korean oriental medicine. However, it is the first theoretical attempt to the clinical research and scientific methodology of Ohaeng(Five) Ohaeng-Hwa Acupuncture, and more active Ohaeng-Hwa Acupuncture R&D is being conducted nationwide.

Cathepsin B is abundantly expressed peptidase of the papain family in the lysosomes, and closely related to the cell degradation system such as apoptosis, necrosis and autophagy. Abnormal degradation of organelles often occurs due to release of cathepsin B into the cytoplasm. Many studies have been reported that relationship between cathepsin B and intracellular mechanisms in various cell types, but porcine embryos has not yet been reported. Therefore, this study evaluated the effect of cathepsin B inhibitor (E-64) on preimplantation developmental competence and quality of porcine embryos focusing on apoptosis and oxidative stress. The expression of cathepsin B mRNA in porcine embryos was gradually decreased in inverse proportion to E-64 concentration by using real-time RT-PCR. When putative zygotes were cultured with E-64 for 24 h, the rates of early cleavage and blastocyst development were decreased by increasing E-64 concentration. However, the rate of blastocyst development in $5{\mu}M$ treated group was similar to the control. On the other hand, both the index of apoptotic and reactive oxygen species (ROS) of blastocysts were significantly decreased in the $5{\mu}M$ E-64 treated group compared with control. We also examined the mRNA expression levels of apoptosis related genes in the blastocysts derived from $5{\mu}M$ E-64 treated and non-treated groups. Expression of the pro-apoptotic Bax gene was shown to be decreased in the E-64 treated blastocyst group, whereas expression of the anti-apoptotic Bcl-xL gene was increased. Taken together, these results suggest that proper inhibition of cathepsin B at early development stage embryos improves the quality of blastocysts, which may be related to not only the apoptosis reduction but also the oxidative stress reduction in porcine embryos.

Young radio galaxies (YRGs) provide an ideal laboratory to explore the connection between the accretion disk and radio jet thanks to their recent jet formation. We investigate the relationship between the emission-line properties, the black hole accretion rate, and the radio properties using a sample of 34 low-redshift (z < 0.4) YRGs. We classify YRGs as high-excitation galaxies (HEGs) and low-excitation galaxies (LEGs) based on the flux ratio of high-ionization to low-ionization emission lines. Using the H alpha luminosities as a proxy of accretion rate, we find that HEGs in YRGs have similar to 1 dex higher Eddington ratios than LEGs in YRGs, suggesting that HEGs have a higher mass accretion rate or higher radiative efficiency than LEGs. In agreement with previous studies, we find that the luminosities of emission lines, in particular H alpha, are correlated with radio core luminosity, suggesting that accretion and young radio activities are fundamentally connected.

Extremely low birth weight infants (ELBWIs) are at high risk for candidemia, which often involves the kidneys, resulting in obstructive uropathy, for which the management is difficult and challenging. An ELBWI developed a bloodstream Candida albicans infection on the 21st day of life. Candidemia persisted after one week of fluconazole administration. Then, the antifungal agent was changed to liposomal amphotericin B (AmBisome®; LAmB). The blood culture turned negative after three days of LAmB treatment. At the end of the two-week course of LAmB, the patient showed progressive renal failure with a positive fungal culture in the urine. Bilateral obstructive renal fungal balls were identified by ultrasonography. On both sides, we placed two pairs of 5-Fr percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) tubes (upper and lower pole tube pairs in each kidney). We started direct administration of LAmB through the upper pole tubes and let them drain through the lower pole tubes. Concomitantly, systemic LAmB levels were maintained. The urine culture turned negative after two weeks of continuous irrigation. The PCN tubes were removed sequentially following fungal ball disappearance, while irrigation was continued for seven weeks. Continuous antifungal agent irrigation through paired PCN tubes was effective in ELBWI with bilateral urinary obstruction.

It is now well known that a rise in intracellular calcium of the beta-cell and the presence of extracellular calcium are prerequisite for glucose to exert its stimulatory effect on insulin secretion. Several studies, however, has shown that magnesium may also be invloved in the regulation of glucose-induced insulin secretion and insulin biosynthesis. Moreover, it has been presented that magnesium also play an important role in the action of insulin. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between calcium and magnesium concentration to glucose-stmulated insulin secretion in the isolated perfused rat pancreas. The results were as follows; 1. Among the various magnesium concentrations (0.0, 0.6, 1.2, 2.4, 4.8 mM) with fixation of calcium level to 1.2 mM and among the various calcium concentrations (0.0, 0.6, 1.2, 2.4, 4.8 mM) with fixation of magnesium level to 1.2 mM, there were no significant differences in basal insulin secretion rates (Glucose 30 mg/dl). 2. Among the various magnesium concentrations, there was maximal insulin secretion rate at the level of 0.6 mM magnesium with fixation of calcium level to 1.2 mM in all 3 phases. 3. Increased level of magnesium above 0.6 mM and magnesium free condition were found to cause the marked depression of insulin secretion. 4. Among the various calcium concentrations, there was maxiamal insulin secertion rate at the level of 2.4 mM calcium with the fixation of magnesium level to 1.2 mM in all 3 phases. 5. Decreasing level of calcium (0.0, 0.6, 1.2 mM) and higher calcium concentration (4.8 mM) were found to cause the marked depression of insulin secretion. The data strongly suggest that the ratio of magnesium and calcium levels are more important factor of the insulin secretion than each divalent cation levels. In addition, small amount of both magnesium and calcium are necessary for optimum glucose stimulated insulin secretion.
