신고리 지역 기상관측을 통한 계절별 대기안정도 특성분석

In this study, we analyzed the characteristics of atmospheric stability to investigate local environment change at an atomic power plant in Gori region. The used data was obtained from field observation of major meteorological variables such as wind direction and speed, air temperature, relative humidity, and solar radiation using AWS (Automatic Weather System) in Gori region from February to September in 2003. As a result, when strong northerly winds (more than 4~6 m/s) and weak northwesterly winds (2~3m/s) blow, atmospheric stability was neutral and stable from winter to spring, respectively. Atmospheric stability (neutral) in summer was similar to that in two other seasons (winter and spring), but it was stable for weak southwesterly winds (2~3 m/s). Finally, atmospheric stability was neutral for strong winds (over 4~6 m/s) in fall without respect to wind direction, while that was stable for very weak winds (less than 2 m/s).

본 연구는 2001년부터 2008년까지 Fn-Guide에서 추출된 재무분석가의 17,852개 최초 분석보고서 표본을 기준으로 신규 분석보고서와 계속 분석보고서로 구분한 후, 신규 분석 보고서를 발행하는 재무분석가의 이익예측 특성을 실증 분석하였다. 기존의 연구에서는 재무분석가의 신규 분석 선택유인이 기존의 분석과 다르고, 시장이 이에 대해 차별적으로 반응하고 있음을 발견하였다. 이와 같은 결과를 고려할 때, 신규 분석기업의 이익예측 특성에 대한 연구결과는 시장 참여자들의 반응에 대한 보다 구체적인 원인과 해석을 제공해줄 수 있다. 분석결과, 재무분석가는 기존 분석기업 이익예측치와 비교하여 신규 분석 기업에 대해 상대적으로 덜 낙관적인 예측을 하고 정확한 예측을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 시장 최초 표본을 기준으로 한 분석과, 재무분석가 선택 편의를 통제한 이후에도 동일하게 유지되었다. 이는 기존 분석과 비교하여 재무분석가가 신규 분석에 더 많은 시간과 노력을 투입하고 있을 가능성을 의미한다. 또한 신규 분석에 투입되는 노력이 신규 분석의 예측정확성에 부정적으로 영향을 미치는 학습효과 요인 및 정보 접근성의 요인보다 더 중요한 예측특성결정 요인임을 보여준다. 재무분석가의 이익예측치가 신규 분석과 기존 분석이라는 특성에 의해 차별적인 속성을 가진다는 본 연구의 결과는 재무분석가의 종목군의 신규 편입여부가 이익예측치의 특성에 영향을 미치는 요소가 될 수 있음을 보인다. In this study, we examine the forecast properties of newly added firms in the universe of financial analysts using 17,852 firm-year observations provided by Fn-Guide data base from 2001 to 2008. According to prior research, market participants show differential reaction to the analysts` reports of newly added firms in the universe of financial analysts. This suggests that the forecast properties for newly added firms may have their own characteristics and knowledge about the newly added firms forecast properties may be useful not only for potential investors but also for researchers examining financial analysts` roles.

Purpose: To investigate the clinical results of vitrectomy alone as the primary treatment for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RD) in patients with atopic dermatitis (AD). Methods: The medical records of patients with AD treated for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RD) were retrospectivelyreviewed. We investigated the characteristics of retinal breaks and detachments, applied surgical methods, and results. Results: Twenty eyes of 14 patients with AD who presented with rhegmatogenous RD and treated by vitrectomy were includedin this analysis. Sixteen eyes (80%) were treated with vitrectomy, either alone or in combination with cataract surgery,and the retina was successfully attached to 94% of the eyes. There were four cases in which vitrectomy was combined withencircling. Reoperation was needed in half of the eyes that received vitrectomy with encircling, which presented nearly totaldetachment, severe proliferative vitreoretinopathy, and pseudophakia. Conclusions: Vitrectomy alone, in combination with cataract surgery, may be sufficient to treat rhegmatogenous RD in patientswith AD. Additional encircling or buckling should still be considered in complicated cases.
Development of Fast-Response Portable NDIR Analyzer Using Semiconductor Devices

In this paper, a novel fast response NDIR analyzer (FRNDIR), which uses an electrically pulsed semiconductor emitter and dual type PbSe detector for the PPM-Ievel detection of carbon dioxide (CO₂) at a wavelength of 4.28㎛, is described. Modulation of conventional NDIR energy typically occurs at I to 20 Hz. To achieve real time high-speed measurement, the new analyzer employs a semiconductor light emitter that can be modulated by electrical chopping. Updated measurements are obtained everyone millisecond. The detector has two independent lead selenide (PbSe) with lR band pass filters. Both the emitter accuracy and the detector sensitivity are increased by thermoelectric cooling of up to - 20 degrees C in all semiconductor devices. Here we report the use of semiconductor devices to achieve improved performance such that these devices have potential application to CO₂ gas measurement and, in particular. the measurement of fast response CO₂ concentration at millisecond level.

Background: Serum ferritin has been regarded as an indicator of infi ammation as well as a marker of body iron storage in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). In addition, high serum ferritin levels were significantly associated with poor clinical outcomes in prevalent dialysis patients. However, little is known about the prognostic impact of serum ferritin concentrations on the clinical outcome in incident hemodialysis (HD) patients. Methods: A prospective cohort of 939 incident HD patients from 36 dialysis centers of the Clinical Research Center for ESRD in Korea was selected for this study. Serum ferritin levels were measured at the time of HD initiation. Patients were divided into tertiles according to log ferritin concentrations; <2.17, 2.17-2.50, and >2.50 ng/mL. Cox proportional hazard analysis was performed to determine the independent prognostic value of serum ferritin levels for all-cause mortality. Results: The median ferritin concentrations were 217.8 (118.7-381.1) ng/mL. Pearson`s correlation analysis showed that log ferritin levels were positively correlated with white blood cell counts (r=0.108, P=0.001) and log C-reactive protein concentrations (r=0.151, P<0.001), while negatively associated with serum albumin levels (r=-0.116, P<0.001). During a median follow-up duration of 20.7 months, 85 (9.1%) patients died. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that all-cause mortality rates were signifi cantly higher in the highest tertile ferritin group compared to the lowest tertile group (P<0.001). Multivariate Cox proportional hazard analysis demonstrated that log ferritin was independently associated with an increase in all-cause mortality risk after adjustment for confounding variables (per 1 ng/mL increase, hazard ratio=2.62, 95% confi dence interval=1.45-4.73, P=0.001). Conclusions: Serum ferritin concentration was a signifi cant independent predictor of all-cause mortality in incident HD patients, suggesting that determining serum ferritin levels might be helpful to stratify mortality risk in these patients.
Functional Properties of Ethanol Extract from Hemerocallis fulva L.

Hemerocallis fulva L. has been used as a traditional drug in Korea for various activities, such as antidepressant, sedatives, anticancer, antihypertensive, and antioxidant agents. This study was conducted to investigate the antioxidant components (total polyphenol and total flavonoid) and various antioxidant activities (DPPH, ABTS, and SOD) of ethanol extracts from Hemerocallis fulva L. In addition, its hypnotic effect was evaluated using a pentobarbital-induced sleep testing in mice. As a result, the high antioxidant power was found in the 50% ethanol extract, which reduced the sleep latency and prolonged the sleep duration to a level similar to those after administration of diazepam. In conclusion, it can potentially be used for development of different functional foods.
