Objective : To evaluate the feasibility and clinical and angiographic outcomes of stent-assisted embolization for complex middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysms. Methods : The records of 23 consecutive patients with 24 MCA aneurysms, who underwent stent-assisted embolization of the aneurysm, were retrospectively evaluated. Results : Fifteen aneurysms were treated with one stent and 8 were treated using more than two stents (5 a stent-within-a-stent, 1 triple stents, and two Y-stent). Angiographically, complete or near complete occlusion was achieved in 15 aneurysms (65.2%), residual neck in five (21.7%), and residual aneurysm in three (13.1%). Five aneurysms demonstrated thrombosis within the stent during the procedure and hospitalization, and were resolved by intraarterial and intravenous Tirofiban injection. Symptomatic thromboembolic complications were developed in five patients and permanent deficits demonstrated in two patients with modified Rankin Scale 1 and 2, respectively. Treatment-related permanent morbidity and mortality rates were 8.3% and 0% with relatively high complication rate. Angiographic follow-up was available in 17 aneurysms at 6-31 months (mean, 13.2 months) and showed stable or improved in 15 (88.2%) and major and minor recurrence in one, respectively. Conclusion : Complex MCA aneurysms could be treated by stent-assisted coiling and showed lower recanalization rate during mid-term follow-up by effective flow diversion due to various stent-assisted techniques. Our results warrant further study with a longer follow-up period in a larger sample.
Isolation of A Novel Malonamidase from Bradyrhizobium Japonicum

$quot;Malonamate shuttle$quot; as a model of nitrogen flow by malonamate in Bradyrhizobium japonicum-soybean symbiosis has been proposed. One of the key enzymes of the shuttle system, malonamidase Ela, was purified in an electrophoretically homogeneous form as a constitutive protein from free living Bradyrhizobium japonicum USDA110. The molecular size of the enzyme was 129,000 dalton composed of two identical 59,000 dalton subunits. pI of the enzyme was 5.4. The enzyme was highly specific for malonamate and malonate as substrates and no cofactors or external ions were required for its catalysis. K_m for malonamate and for malonate were 4.2 and 12.5 mM, respectively. Optimal pH for malonohydroxamate formation from malonamate and NH₂OH and for that from malonate and NH₂OH were about 8.0 and 6.5, respectively.
Modification of p53 with O-linked N-acetylglucosamine regulates p53 activity and stability

Post-translational addition of O-linked N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) to p53 is known to occur, but the site of O-GlcNAcylation and its effects on p53 are not understood. Here, we show that Ser 149 of p53 is O-GlcNAcylated and that this modification is associated with decreased phosphorylation of p53 at Thr 155, which is a site that is targeted by the COP9 signalosome, resulting in decreased p53 ubiquitination. Accordingly, O-GlcNAcylation at Ser 149 stabilizes p53 by blocking ubiquitin-dependent proteolysis. Our results indicate that the dynamic interplay between O-GlcNAc and O-phosphate modifications coordinately regulate p53 stability and activity.

Background: A dynamic preload index such as stroke volume variation (SVV) is not as reliable in spontaneous breathing (SB) patients as in mechanically ventilated patients. This study examined the hypothesis that spectral analysis of hemodynamic variables during paced breathing (PB) activity may be a feasible index of volume changes and fluid responsiveness, despite insufficient respiratory changes in the preload index during SB activity. Methods: Blood pressure and stroke volume (SV) were measured in 16 subjects undergoing PB (15 breaths/min), using a Finometer device and the Modelflow method. Respiratory systolic pressure variation (SPV) and SVV were measured and respiratory frequency (RF, 0.2-0.3 Hz) of power spectra of SPV (SPV(RF)) and SVV (SVV(RF)) were computed using fast Fourier transformation. Progressive hypovolemia was simulated with lower body negative pressure (LBNP). Volume challenges were produced by infusion of normal saline and subsequent release of LBNP to baseline. Fluid responsiveness, defined as a >20% increase in SV, was assessed by the area under the curve (AUC) of receiver operating characteristic curves. Results: Graded hypovolemia caused a significant increase in SPV(RF) and a decrease in SVV(RF). During volume expansion, SPV(RF) decreased and SVV(RF) rose significantly. Fluid responsiveness was better predicted with SVV(RF) (AUC 0.75) than with SPV(RF), SPV, or SVV. SVV(RF) before volume challenge was significantly correlated with volume expansion-induced changes in SV (r=-0.64). Conclusions: These results suggest that RF spectral analysis of dynamic preload variables may enable the detection of volume change and fluid responsiveness in SB hypovolemic patients performing PB activity. 댐퍼를 갖는 복합구조 외팔보의 비틀림진동해석을 통한 접합부의 구조성능 평가

자동차의 크랭크축계 및 댐퍼풀리를 연구대상 모델로하여 댐퍼를 갖는 외팔보 복합구조물에 대한 자유 비틀림 진동특성을 검토하고 모델실험, 모달해석, 유한요소해석을 실시했다. 실험모델 구조물로는 금속 단일구조물, 금속/고무 복합구조물을 제작 사용했다. 결론적으로, 충격햄머를 이용한 자유진동실험을 통해 용접부와 기계적 체결부, 고무접착부의 강성과 감쇠계수를 1자유도법, 2자유도법, 3자유도법으로 평가할 수 있었다. Torsional free-vibration characteristics of a cantilever beam with damper have been studied using the theoretical and experimental modal analyses and a finite-element method. The torsional beam was made as a model of the crankshaft system with a damper pulley for motor car. Two kinds of model beams were used: simple metal beam and metal/rubber composite structure beam. Consequently, Stiffness and damping factor for weld, mechanical joint and adhered rubber layer could be evaluated using one-degree, two-degree, three-degree of freedom analyses through and impact hammer test.
