This study examines the effectiveness of foreign aid in developing countries, especially in the healthcare sector. This study also investigates the relationship between foreign aid and infant mortality rate in countries such as Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam for 2002 -2015. The empirical results show that there is a negative relationship between foreign aid and infant mortality rate. The foreign aid can be effective with sound governance and lower rate of corruption. Infant mortality rates can be reduced with good sanitation facilities and decreasing numbers of HIV/AIDS sufferers. This study applied regression method for analyzing the relationship and provide policy and managerial implications.

The bean bug Riptortus pedestris causes major damage to soybean and has become a serious problem due to its high resistance to insecticides. To address this problem, this study aimed to select the most effective entomopathogenic fungi for the control of R. pedestris. Selection was performed through the evaluation of virulence, thermotolerance, and UV-B tolerance of fungal isolates against R. pedestris and conidial production on grain medium. The pathogenicity of 30 Beauveria bassiana isolates and 30 Metarhizium anisopliae isolates was evaluated, and pathogenicity was confirmed in all but 3 isolates of B. bassiana.Amongthe57isolates,11 exhibited high virulence. Of these 11 isolates, B. bassiana JB13G1W1 and M. anisopliae CB6T1G1 and JB12R3G1 showed the highest virulence of more than 80%. The conidial production of all fungal isolates in millet grain medium was good, ranging from 108 to 109 conidia/g. The UV-B tolerance and thermotolerance of the 57 isolates varied according to the isolate, and those of M. anisopliae isolates were slightly higher than those of B. bassiana. As a result of comparative evaluation of the virulence, conidial production, thermotolerance, and UV-B tolerance of fungal isolates, B. bassiana JB13G1W1 and M. anisopliae CB6T1G1 and JB12R3G1 were selected as excellent fungal isolates for the control of R. pedestris. Among them, B. bassiana JB13G1W1 showed the highest virulence, with LC50 and LT50 values of 7.86 × 105 conidia/mL and 5.24 days at 108 conidia/mL, respectively. The most effective growth stage to control R. pedestris with B. bassiana JB13G1W1 was 2nd-instar nymphs.

To investigate the optimum harvesting time of rice from June to December 2015 at Yezin in Middle plain area of Myanmar. The rice cultivars tested were Dasan2, Yeongpungbyeo(Korean cultivars) and Shwe Thwe Yin(Myanmar cultivar). The ripened grain rate were high when the harvesting date after heading were between 35 and 40 days for Dasan2, Yeongpungbyeo and between 30 and 35days for Shwe Thwe Yin, respectively. The highest yield of rice was obtained when harvested 35 to 40days after heading for all cultivars. However, the shattering loss was the highest in 40days after heading, the yield losses in 40DAF(days after flowering) are 2 to 2.7 times more than other treatments in 30DAF. Therefore, the estimated optimum harvesting times are 40DAF, 31DAF and 25DAF for Dasan2, Yeongpungbyeo and Shwe Thwe Yin, respectively.
