Fractional Differentiation-based Image Feature Extraction

Two novel methods for image feature extraction based on fractional differentiation are presented in this paper. The first method is the feature extraction of fusing multi-direction CRONE operators. In this method, the fractional differential CRONE mask is generalized to eight directions at first for extracting image features; then the extracted features are tested by the statistic method and fused by the gradient ratio, so that the outlines of the objects in the image are obtained. In order to extract the detail feature information in the image effectively, the second method, the ‘S+Z’ extraction combined with the space-filling curves, is presented. By introducing the space-filling curves, the ‘S’ curve and the ‘Z’ curve, and making full use of the neighborhood information of image pixels, the detailed features of the objects in the image are obtained. The experiment results show that our methods can obtain satisfactory image features.

Basing on the microorganism effect theories of the strong pulse light and according to the factors of the pulse light, the equipment of bacterium and detecting was made by the strong pulse light technology. The general capacitance circuit was improved and the pulse generating circuit is consisting of two powers. Used this equipment the primary experiment about the bacterium effects was finished. The result shows that the flash frequency、input voltage、 bacterium liquid depth、 bacterium liquid transparency are the main factors and its sterilizing effect is remarkable. This equipment can be applied in processing and storage engineering of agricultural products.
A quantitative method for detecting meat contamination based on specific polypeptides

Objective: This study was aimed to establish a quantitative detection method for meat contamination based on specific polypeptides. Methods: Thermally stable peptides with good responses were screened by high resolution liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. Standard curves of specific polypeptide were established by triple quadrupole mass spectrometry. Finally, the adulteration of commercial samples was detected according to the standard curve. Results: Fifteen thermally stable peptides with good responses were screened. The selected specific peptides can be detected stably in raw meat and deep processed meat with the detection limit up to 1% and have a good linear relationship with the corresponding muscle composition. Conclusion: This method can be effectively used for quantitative analysis of commercial samples.
Influence of water-stressed rice on feeding behavior of brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens (Stål)

Climate change can impact insects through abnormal weather conditions such as elevated temperatures and droughts. Crops experiencing periods of water stress from droughts may have significant effects on pest populations because of physiology changes, insect behavior and adaptation. Herewe report on the effects ofwater stress on the rice pest, the brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens (Stål). In themultiple choice test, both the fifth instar nymphs and female adults BPH preferred plants under the low stress level over control and high stress plants. The electrical penetration graph (EPG) showed that the fifth instar nymphs spent more time in non-penetration activities while the female adults spent less. Both the fifth instar nymphs and female adults spent more time in salivation on high stress plants than in control and low stress plants indicating difficulties in feeding. In addition there was marked increase in probe numbers made by both the fifth instar nymphs and the female adults in the feeding duration. The fifth instar nymphs made twice as many numbers of probes than those in the control (9.36 vs to 5.25 min) while the female adults made about 4 times more probes (13.13 vs 3.00 min). Both the fifth instar nymphs and the female adults producedmore honeydewon the lowstress plants suggesting that plants in low water stress favored insect feeding. These findings indicate that BPH in low water stress rice plants seem to do better which supports the theory that drought induces pest outbreaks.
