Transcriptome analysis of Dioscorea zingiberensis identifies genes involved in diosgenin biosynthesis

        Wenping Hua,Weiwei Kong,XiaoYan Cao,Chen Chen,Qian Liu,Xiangmin Li,Zhezhi Wang 한국유전학회 2017 Genes & Genomics Vol.39 No.5

Dioscorea zingiberensis is the main plant source of diosgenin, a precursor for the production of steroid hormones used in the pharmaceutical industry. The extraction process of diosgenin from D. zingiberensis can generate high-acid and high-strength wastewater on a large scale and can threaten the environment. Bioengineering microorganisms to produce diosgenin is an effective way to avoid pollution. However, little is known about the genes that are involved in the biosynthesis of diosgenin. We obtained 85,010 unigenes (average length of 1142 bases) from the D. zingiberensis transcriptome through RNAseq. A large number of unigenes (59,368; 69.83%) were annotated, and 2488 unigenes were assigned to 27 secondary- metabolite pathways. In our database, 66 unigenes encoding up to 40 key enzymes were found to be present in diosgenin biosynthesis pathways. In addition, we found 203 unigenes encoding CYP450 proteins and 47 unigenes encoding UGT proteins that may be involved in modifications of a downstream pathway. The expression patterns of key diosgenin biosynthesis genes were studied to identify the most important members of the enzyme family. These results add to the available genetic data of D. zingiberensis and lay the foundation for the further production of diosgenin using genetic engineering.

Compact inductive and capacitive combined wireless power transfer system for unmanned aerial vehicle applications

        Wenping Chai,Xichen Liu,Shuai Wu,Chunwei Cai 전력전자학회 2024 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.24 No.4

This paper proposes a novel inductive and capacitive combined wireless power transfer (IC-WPT) system for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) applications. First, a new compact inductive and capacitive combined coupler is presented. The magnetic field coupled power transmission of the compact coupler contains one magnetic transmitting unit, which is composed of two biorthogonal L-type cores and two rectangular coils wound on each of the short edges of the L-type ferrite core in the vertical position, and two air-cored receiving coils embedded in the legs. Meanwhile, the electric field coupled power transmission of the compact coupler consists of four pieces of copper foil, where two are attached on the primary side and two are attached on the secondary sides for wireless energy transmission through capacitive coupling. Second, a simple resonant compensation network is developed for the IC-WPT system. To make the secondary side lightweight, the receiver self-inductance of the inductive power transfer (IPT) coupler and compensating capacitance of the capacitive power transfer (CPT) receiver can be used to compensate each other. A prototype of the proposed UAV IC-WPT system is built and tested. Experimental results show that the wireless power transfer system can deliver 130 W at an efficiency of 81.2%, which means it can be adopted to the autonomous charging of UAVs.

Influence of the silencing sex-peptide receptor on Bactrocera dorsalis adults and offspring by feeding with ds-spr

        Wenping Zheng,Yaru Liu,Weiwei Zheng,Yunli Xiao,Hongyu Zhang 한국응용곤충학회 2015 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.18 No.3

RNA interference (RNAi) has been shown to control insect pests using plant dsRNA expression. A key question in potentially applying RNAi is the possible effects on insects after being fed with dsRNA produced by a transgenic plant. Sex peptide receptor (spr) is the key gene that regulates the suppression of female receptivity and induction of oviposition. In this study, the expression level of the spr genewas significantly down-regulated to 52% by feeding Bactrocera dorsalis adults with ds-spr. The RNAi effects of continuous feeding ds-spr to adults led to a highly mortality rate, decreased their egg production capacity and profoundly impacted the eclosion rate of their offspring. Our results demonstrate that RNAi through uninterrupted dsRNA feeding can be used as a strategy to control insect pests. Moreover, the research presented here provides a potential RNAi target gene for controlling B. dorsalis and a theoretical basis for universally applying RNAi in insect pest management.

CLOSE-IN STELLAR COMPANIONS IN CLOSE BINARY STARS

        LIAO, FIRST M. WENPING,QIAN, SHENGBANG,ZHU, LIYING,LIU, LIANG The Korean Astronomical Society 2015 天文學論叢 Vol.30 No.2

Close binary stars are so close that one component has an effect on the evolution of the other. But how do they form and evolve? This is an unsolved problem. One speculation is that the binary is a part of a hierarchical triple and its orbit shrinks due to interaction with the third component. Therefore, searching for and investigating tertiary components, especially close-in ones, in close binary stars are important for understanding their origin, as well as to test theories of star formation and stellar dynamical interaction.

      • Community Detection in Complex Networks based on Improved Genetic Algorithm and Local Optimization

Kun Deng,XingYan Liu,WenPing Li 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.9 No.10

This paper proposes the community detection in complex networks based on improved genetic algorithm and local optimization (IGALO) in terms of the defect that traditional community detection approaches based on genetic algorithm have strong randomness and weak searching ability in the process of community detection. Taking modularity function Q as the objective function, IGALO algorithm adopts label propagation method of one-iteration to initialize population so as to generate initial population with certain precision. Then, anti-destructive one-way crossover strategy is proposed to ensure the crossover operation to develop in the direction of making community structure increase to modularity function. Finally, mutation strategy of node local optimization is proposed to improve the searching efficiency of algorithm. This algorithm effectively overcomes the defect that traditional algorithms have weak searching ability and improves the community detection accuracy. Tests are made on benchmark networks and real-world networks and comparative analysis is also made with various classic algorithms. The results show that IGALO algorithm is effective and feasible.

Modelling drying-energy consumption in automotive painting line based on ANN and MLR for real-time prediction

Songhua Ma,Zhaoliang Jiang,Wenping Liu 한국정밀공학회 2019 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.6 No.2

By taking energy awareness and efficiency into consideration, this research applies multiple linear regression (MLR) models and artificial neural networks (ANNs) for predicting the real-time heating energy demand and natural gas consumption in the drying chamber of an automotive painting line. With the estimation of the correlation and randomness during the painting process, a total of six fundamental variables that integrate energy, product and process data are considered in order to cover the impact factors of the natural gas consumption. The independent variable value, used to calibrate and evaluate the model, is obtained from our constructed energy consumption monitoring system. In the prediction cases, the ANN-based model, which offers a well performance, provides great precision in the determination of the natural gas demand with an R2 coefficient and other error measurements of over 90%. Based on the MLR model, the process temperature and the corresponding variation are found to be two decisive factors for the natural gas consumption. It is foreseen that the ANN model, which can effectively perform input/output mapping, is reliable and powerful for predicting the natural gas consumption and estimating the energy demand. Being a general data-driven method, our method is convenient for application to other heating process lines and even other energy-consuming plants.

Joint Estimation of Vehicle State and Parameter Based on Maximum Correntropy Adaptive Unscented Kalman Filter

        Zhang Feng,Feng Jingan,Qi Dengliang,Liu Ya,Shao Wenping,Qi Jiaao,Lin Yuangang 한국자동차공학회 2023 International journal of automotive technology Vol.24 No.6

To address the problem of poor robustness and accuracy of vehicle state and parameter estimation by conventional Kalman filter in the non-Gaussian environments, a three-degree-of-freedom vehicle model with an improved Dugoff tire model is established and a joint estimator of vehicle state and parameter is designed using the Maximum Correntropy (MC) adaptive unscented Kalman filter (AUKF) algorithm in order to simultaneously estimate and identify the yaw rate, longitudinal vehicle speed, lateral vehicle speed, vehicle mass and rotational inertia. The proposed joint estimator algorithm was validated by Simulink/CarSim simulation testbed under Double Lane Change and Sine Wave Steering Input conditions. The results show that MC combined with AUKF (MCAUKF) algorithm has higher estimation accuracy and better convergence compared to the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) and the MC combined with UKF (MCUKF) in non-Gaussian environments, and the MCAUKF estimator is more suitable for state estimation and parameter identification of real vehicles.

The fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) and the principal component analysis (PCA) model simulation and its applications in water quality assessment of Nansi Lake Basin, China

        Shiguo Xu,Yixiao Cui,Chuanxi Yang,Shujing Wei,Wenping Dong,Lihui Huang,Changqing Liu,Zongming Ren,Weiliang Wang 대한환경공학회 2021 Environmental Engineering Research Vol.26 No.2

The Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation (FCE) and the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) were simulated to assess water quality of the Nansi Lake Basin, China. The membership functions were established via the Nor-Half Sinusoidal Distribution Method, and the weight was calculated via the Exceeding Standard Multiple Method. To enhance the efficiency of extracting principal pollutant, the eigenequation was solved through the Jacobi Method, and the principal components were extracted based on eigenvalue, contribution ratio, accumulating contribution ratio, principal component loading and score. Water quality classification based on “National Surface Water Environmental Quality Standards of China (GB3838-2002) was used to assess the water quality. Considering the difference of the temporal and spatial distribution in average, water quality of Level I was 28.9%, 28.1%, 25.1%, 25.6%, respectively in spring, summer, autumn, and winter, which suggested that water quality in spring and summer was better than in autumn and winter. The order of water quality was Zhaoyang Lake (Level I) > Nanyang Lake (Level I) > Dushan Lake (Level III) > Weishan Lake (Level III and IV). There were four extracted principal components that can replace the fourteen pollutant indexes for assessing water quality. According to the annual mean data of the 1st principal components, the most important pollutions were heavy metals, including As (0.933), Hg (0.931), Cd (0.929), Cr(VI) (0.926), Pb (0.925), and Cu (0.534). It is proved that the combined FCE-PCA model could provide valuable information in the water quality assessment for the Nansi Lake Basin.

New Structure Design for 126kV HV Vacuum Circuit Breaker

        Xie Jiuming,Sun Dengyue,Wang Jianzhong,Cao Jianbo,Liu Wenping 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Control and Automation Vol.7 No.12

This paper analyzes the advantages of double breaks under series connection for 126kV HV vacuum circuit breaker. It makes efforts in the break designing to avoid hidden danger brought by voltage-sharing capacitor. Voltage is evenly distributed in the shape of ▽ at the basic break that asks for no voltage-sharing capacitors. Permanent magnetic actuator is used to ensure the synchronization of opening and closing of double breaks. Based on this layout, this paper designs a new actuator and motion system for vacuum circuit breaker optimized by virtual prototype software ADAMS and genetic algorithm. Laboratory tests have proved that the opening and closing speed of the breaker meets the speed standard and that the 126kV HV vacuum circuit breaker is feasible.
