To evaluate the deformed features of a polymer and touch screen panel laminated material and to secure a reliability of the design method, it is crucial to predict a thermo-mechanical behavior of the polymers. The reliability problems of polymer-TSP laminated module subjected to temperature and humidity changes mainly occur due to features with time-dependent material properties as well as differences in the coefficients of thermal expansion between the polymer and TSP. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the viscous behavior which causes changes in material properties which include temperature-dependent properties along with the time-dependent properties. In this study, a tensile test is conducted to obtain fundamental material properties and a creep test is used to characterize viscous properties of the polymer. Material properties from the tensile and the creep test are verified by the tensile and creep simulations. Also, the finite element analysis is used to simulate the time-dependent behaviors during a high temperature conditions while predicting thermal deformations. Numerical results are compared with experimental results. The result shows that the shape deformations of the polymer-TSP laminated module calculated by the finite element analysis with visco-elastic-plastic material model are in a good agreement with the experiment. Based on analytical results, we predict the thermal deformation of the PMMA-TSP composite plate in consideration of the effect of viscous features and set up the organized numerical analysis procedure using FE analysis.

Traditional germplasms are unsuitable for mechanized production, limiting adzuki bean production. The creation of cultivars that can be harvested by mechanized means is an urgent task for breeders. The bottom pod height (BPH), lodging resistance, and synchronous maturing of adzuki beans are critical factors for the reduction of losses due to mechanized harvesting. In this study, 14 traits of 806 adzuki bean accessions were analyzed. All growth stages and the yield, lodging score, and synchronous maturing correlated negatively with the BPH. These negative correlations reflect the increased difficulty of breeding to simultaneously satisfy the needs for no lodging, high synchronous maturing rates, BPHs > 10 ㎝, and high yield. We screened three germplasms with no lodging, high synchronous maturing rates, and BPHs > 10 ㎝ that were used as mechanization-adapted breeding material for crossing with high-yield cultivars. Agronomic trait diversity in adzuki beans was also examined in this study. Principal component and cluster analyses were conducted for 806 germplasms resulting in three clusters with the yield and three growth stage traits serving as the main discriminating factors. Cluster 1 included high-yield germplasms with the number of pods per plant and the number of seeds per pod being the major discriminant factors. Cluster 2 included germplasms with long growth periods and large 100-seed weights while cluster 3 contained germplasms with high BPHs. In general, the characteristics that make mechanical harvesting feasible and those assessed in this study could be utilized to choose and enhance adzuki beans production.
Cytogenetic Studies of Chrysanthemum: A Review

Chrysanthemum is a valuable ornamental plant worldwide, and several of its species are used as herbal tea, medicinal plants, and dietary supplements, among others. Commercial cultivars have been developed through interspecific hybridization and artificial selection to improve the characteristics, production quality, and environmental adaptation for enhancing ornamental value. To better understand the recent research in cytogenetic studies of chrysanthemum, we examined studies concerning polyploidy, karyotyping, banding, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) technique, and inter/intraspecific hybridization. Ploidy level is important in genomic characteristics and has a significant value to horticulturists and plant breeders. Studies have reported that flow cytometry analysis and single-dose molecular markers can be used to determine the chrysanthemum ploidy level. As for karyotyping, a better understanding of karyomorphological relationships and evolution of chrysanthemum and its closely related genera has already been gained. Moreover, karyotype parameters in chrysanthemum studies play a critical role in cultivar identification, classification, and genetic analysis. The FISH technique in chrysanthemum research provides more information on chromosome identification, sequences distribution, and evolution for expediting the development and improvement of plant species. The genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) technique can also be used to test hybridization in chrysanthemum breeding. Hence, this review of molecular cytogenetic studies of chrysanthemum will help us to have a better understanding and knowledge of the taxa breeding and the development and improvement of new cultivars.

<P>Intratumoral hypoxia has been correlated with distant metastatic potential. Two hypoxia inducible factors (HIFs), HIF-1관 and HIF-2관, are induced by hypoxia, and high expression of these proteins has been correlated to angiogenesis and distant metastasis. Thymosin 관4 (T관4) is frequently highly expressed in cancer, and this overexpression correlates with malignant progression. The objective of this study was to investigate the clinical correlation of HIF-관 with T관4 and the intracellular functional roles of T관4 on HIF-관 activation. We examined HIF-1관, HIF-2관 and T관4 expressions in clinical human breast carcinoma (n=70) by immunohistochemistry. We show that high expression of HIF-1관 and HIF-2관 strongly correlates with T관4 expression (P??.0001) and overexpression of T관4 correlates significantly with patients with lymph node metastasis (P<0.05) of human breast cancer. Additionally, we demonstrate that hypoxia up-regulates intracellular T관4 protein, which then affects HIF-관 activity, which is the key in regulating VEGF expression. We confirmed that hypoxia-induced intracellular T관4 and HIF-관 activities were reduced by interference of T관4 expression using T관4 shRNA lentivirus. Vascular epidermal growth factor (VEGF)-A, a well-recognized lymphangiogenic cytokine, was also down-regulated, but VEGF-C and VEGF-D expressions were not affected. These findings suggest that the overexpression of T관4 is strongly associated with HIF-1관 and HIF-2관 expression and is also clinicopathologically involved with lymph node metastatic potential of breast cancer through the modulation of HIF-관activation and induction of VEGF-A. Ultimately, these results highlight T관4 as a potentially therapeutic target in malignant cancers.</P>

<P>Vertical electron density (ED) profiles of photoresist film on three different substrates (bare, HMDS-primed, underlayer-coated Si wafer) were obtained using X-ray reflectivity analysis. Small amounts of density fluctuation at each depth of film were analyzed using distorted wave Born approximation fitting. Near the interface, the ED profiles of pure resin on three different substrates differed among substrates. In the bare Si wafer, ED decreased near the interface, whereas ED in the underlayer-coated Si wafer ED was homogeneous. These ED distributions near the interface were strongly dependent on the interfacial energy between resin and substrate. The approximate distributions of photoacid generators (PAGs) were obtained from the comparison of the ED distributions of pure resin and of photoresist containing PAG. When PAG was introduced, the ED profiles showed comparatively uniform increase. However, near the interface, the bare Si wafer showed a large depletion in ED, whereas the underlayer-coated Si wafer showed homogeneous ED. PAG distribution inside photoresist film was affected by both the ED distribution of pure resin and by the interaction between PAG and the substrate.</P>
Intramural Gastric Abscess Caused by a Toothpick Presenting as a Subepithelial Tumor

In the present report, we describe an unusual case of an intramural gastric abscess caused by a foreign body, detected in the form of a subepithelial tumor. A 64-year-old woman was referred to our gastroenterology clinic for further evaluation of a gastric subepithelial tumor. The patient presented with a 1-month history of sustained dull epigastric pain. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed an ill-demarcated, round, smooth, protruding lesion with a small central erosion on the great curvature of the proximal antrum. Endoscopic ultrasonography indicated the presence of an ovoid, heterogeneous, hypoechoic lesion with small echogenic foci located in the submucosa and muscularis propria layers. An abdominal computed tomography scan showed focal gastric wall thickening and regional lymph node enlargement. Endoscopic submucosal dissection was performed for definite diagnosis and management. Thus, we detected a toothpick and removed it using grasping forceps. The final diagnosis was an intramural gastric abscess caused by a toothpick.
