The purpose of this study was to establish whether there are differences in the productivity of the same silkworm(Bombyx mori L.) parthenoclones, obtained by two different methods-thermal and combined, as well as to study their genotype structure by several enzyme loci. It was established that all individuals of parthenoclones Joana, Joana(${\downarrow}{\uparrow}$), Pohi and Pohi(${\downarrow}{\uparrow}$), are homozygous by the studied esterase and phosphoglucomutase loci, which substantiated the clones' genetic stability. By comparative analysis of some biological and technological properties, it was found that parthenoclone Pohi(${\downarrow}{\uparrow}$) obtained by low-high temperature activation is characterized by higher values of these properties as compared to parthenoclone Pohi obtained by thermal parthenogenesis. Comparing the two methods of inducing ameiotic parthenogenetic development, we would recommend that parthenoclone Joana is sustained by thermal parthenogenesis, and parthenoclone Pohi-by the combined method (low-high temperature).

For the first time a fluorescent hyperbranched polymer modified with acridine (P1000-Acrid) was tested in vitro for antimicrobial activity against different model pathogens. The results showed strong activity of the compound against the used Gram-positive and Gram negative bacteria and yeasts. Cytotoxicity effect of P1000-Acrid has been studied towards HEp-2 cell line. The antibacterial finishing of cotton fabric treated with the P1000-Acrid was evaluated towards Grampositive and Gram-negative bacteria. It has been shown that the studied P1000-Acrid polymer reduces bacterial growth and prevents the formation of biofilm. The obtained results indicate that the studied P1000-Acrid hyperbranched polymer possess good antimicrobial potential with the greatest effectiveness against the used Gram-positive strains.

The synthesis and spectral characterization of a new PAMAM metallodendrimer modified with four 4-hexylamino-1,8-naphthalimide units was described. The chemical structure of metallodendrimer has been analyzed with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, electronic, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. The antimicrobial activity of PAMAM dendrimer and its Zn complex [Zn2(D)(NO3)4] was investigated in agar medium and in meat-peptone broth against several pathogenic bacteria and yeasts. The antimicrobial screening showed good inhibition activity of the compounds better expressed against the test Gram-positive bacteria and yeasts. The antimicrobial efficacy of cotton fabrics treated with each of the dendrimers was evaluated, and their anti-adhesive and biofilm inhibiting potential was analyzed by SEM. The complex [Zn2(D)(NO3)4] showed stronger antimicrobial and biofilm inhibiting abilities than those of the ligand. The cytotoxicity effect of the dendrimers was also investigated in vitro in model HEp-2 cell line.
Popular Culture as an Important Element in Creating a National Image of Korea

The culture is an important element in creation of national image. Improvement of image by means of national culture, eventually, exerts positive impact on other factors that make a national image general, such as political, social and economic factors. In this article, Korean popular culture is considered in connection with the subjects of the cultural exports (popular culture music, broadcasting culture and eSports), where the type of mass culture is a powerful tool of managing the consciousness of the masses not only inside the country, but also outside of it. Promotion of national interests and the country"s brand are strategic, extremely important for any country. They can be seen as investments in the future. The success of economic growth and the dynamic development of relations with other countries largely depend on how the image of the country is formed and promoted on the external market.

Russian political–economic development since the early 1990s has been described as one of initial liberalization and subsequent re-etatization a decade later. Our paper critically builds upon this view, systematically adding patrimonialism as third dimension and conceptualizing Russia’s trajectory as varying with respect to ideal–typical liberalism, statism and patrimonialism. We argue that Russian patrimonialism hindered the rise of the economically facilitating state capacity and undermined both liberalization in the 1990s and re-etatization in the 2000s. Furthermore, we add a comparative BRICs perspective that clarifies the peculiarity of Russia’s development based on statistical data from the World Bank, the OECD and Heritage Foundation. The data confirm the de-liberalization of Russia and show an increase of patrimonialism. Another finding is that Russia was the only BRIC country that deliberalized and increased its level of patrimonialism in the period under consideration.
Characterization of Graphene Oxide Suspension for Fluorescence Quenching in DNA-Diagnostics

The graphene oxides (GOs) were tested as a fluorescent quencher in the field of DNA-diagnostics. The various suspensions of GO nanoplates were prepared by changing the synthesis conditions. The suspensions were stable for at least 6 weeks by differing degrees of functionalization of various oxygen-containing groups of atoms. Depending on the properties of GO nanoplates, their fluorescent quenching abilities, which were determined by the amount of the tagged immobilized oligonucleotide, were also changed. GO suspension synthesized at $75^{\circ}C$ of reaction mixture showed the fluorescent quenching of 16.39 nmol/mg, which would be a potential substitution of molecular fluorescent quencher in test-systems for DNA-diagnostics.

Backgrounds: Echinochrome A (6-ethyl-2,3,5,7,8-pentahydroxy- 1,4-naphthoquinone) is a common naphthoquinone pigment found in the shells, spines, and coelomic fluid of sea urchins. We previously reported that echinochrome A has a cardioprotective function as an antioxidant against reactive oxygen species (ROS) induced by tert-Butyl hydroperoxide and doxorubicin. Methods: In the current study, we evaluated the antioxidant activity, ATP production, and oxygen consumption rate (OCR) of seven echinochrome structural analogs (spinochromes) in AC16 human cardiomyocyte cells. The compounds included in the study had various substituents including hydroxyl (Sp B and Sp E), amino (Echm A), methoxyl (TriMeEch A), pentyl (No. 284), and hydroxypentyl (No. 285). We also investigated the effects of one dimeric spinochrome (Binaphthoquinone). Results: Spinochromes exhibited enhanced antioxidant activity and ATP production. Interestingly, the hydroxylated compounds significantly enhanced the OCR and had a cardiomyocyte protective effect in the presence of doxorubicin. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that echinochrome A structural analogs may have therapeutic potential for cardio-protection.

Echinochrome A (Ech A), a marine biosubstance isolated from sea urchins, is a strong antioxidant, and its clinical form, histochrome, is being used to treat several diseases, such as ophthalmic, cardiovascular, and metabolic diseases. Cancerassociated fibroblasts (CAFs) are a component of the tumor stroma and induce phenotypes related to tumor malignancy, including epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cancer stemness, through reciprocal interactions with cancer cells. Here, we investigated whether Ech A modulates the properties of CAFs and alleviates CAF-induced lung cancer cell migration. First, we observed that the expression levels of CAF markers, Vimentin and fibroblast-activating protein (FAP), were decreased in Ech A-treated CAF-like MRC5 cells. The mRNA transcriptome analysis revealed that in MRC5 cells, the expression of genes associated with cell migration was largely modulated after Ech A treatment. In particular, the expression and secretion of cytokine and chemokine, such as IL6 and CCL2, stimulating cancer cell metastasis was reduced through the inactivation of STAT3 and Akt in MRC5 cells treated with Ech A compared to untreated MRC5 cells. Moreover, while conditioned medium from MRC5 cells enhanced the migration of non-small cell lung cancer cells, conditioned medium from MRC5 cells treated with Ech A suppressed cancer cell migration. In conclusion, we suggest that Ech A might be a potent adjuvant that increases the efficacy of cancer treatments to mitigate lung cancer progression.
