Selecting Service Providers with Neural Networks: Evidence from Car Service Providers
S. M. Khairova,V. A. Kovalev,B. G. Khairov,A. V. Shimohin 대한산업공학회 2019 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.18 No.3
The research goal is to test the ability of neural networks to solve management problems, e.g. to select a car service provider. To achieve this, the authors proposed a reliability scale of a car service provider and obtained a dependence to assess this reliability. These procedures provided the data that were used to train a neural network. The authors applied the expert method to obtain the weights of the parameters describing car service providers. The opinions of experts were used to compile the characteristics of the car service providers. These data helped train neural networks to identify the most optimal parameters for solving this problem – to select of a car service provider. The conducted research confirms the ability of neural networks to solve management problems of choosing service providers. The study revealed the most appropriate type and structure of the neural network for dealing with such a management task. The findings of the study can be used to create a software product that can help managers choose a service provider. Besides the authors proposed the criteria for identifying changes in the quality of services provided.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the pharmacological effects of low-esterified pectin on carbon tetrachloride $(CCL_4)-induced$ hepatotoxicity in rats. The study included two experiments. In the first experiment the animals were given daily $CCL_4$ through gavage for 7 days and then 10, 50, or 250 mg/kg b.w. of pectin for 21 days. At the end of experiment rats were killed within 24 hours. The increased bilirubin level, enhanced alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase activity in plasma induced by $CCL_4$ were partly normalized by pectin administration in a dose-dependent manner. The pectin treatment also resulted in significant recovery of $CCL_4-induced$ decrease of the liver glycogen content. In addition, pectin significantly improved $CCL_4-induced$ alterations of pro-oxidant and antioxidant biochemical parameters in liver and plasma compared to those of rats administered $CCL_4$. In the second experiment the animals were given daily 10, 50 or 250 mg/ kg b.w. of pectin for 21 days before a 7-day administration of $CCL_4$. Rats were killed 24 hours after the end of experiment. Pretreatment with pectin before $CCL_4$ administration resulted in significantly inhibited increase of the blood enzymatic activities of alanine and aspartate aminotransferases and bilirubin level in a dose-dependent manner. Also, preliminary administration of pectin prevented elevation of malondialdehyde and conjugated diene levels in liver and plasma as well as a reduction of glutathione content in liver of rats given $CCL_4$. These results suggest that low-esterified pectin exert healing and preventive effects on $CCL_4-induced$ hepatotoxicity in rats.

In this work, the magnetic properties and critical behavior around ferromagneticeparamagnetic (FM ePM) phase transition in Ba1.7La0.3FeMoO6 compound have been investigated in detail. This compound exhibits a second-order magnetic phase transition with Curie temperature TC ¼ 345 K. The critical exponents b, g, and d that are determined by using the modified Arrott plots (MAP), the KouveleFisher (KF) and the critical isotherm analysis agree very well. Our results indicate a coexistence of short-range and long-range ferromagnetic (FM) interactions in Ba1.7La0.3FeMoO6 compound. The existence of long-range FM interactions in this compound can be associated with the crystal structure of materials with longrange Fe/Mo ordering parameter and strength of double-exchange interaction, whereas the existence of the short-range FM interactions can be explained by magnetic inhomogeneity and FM clusters.
