<P>Various genetic and environmental factors appear to be involved in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) is among the environmental factors that are suspected of predisposing to SLE, based on the characteristics of EBV itself and on sequence homologies between autoantigens and EBV antigens. In addition, higher titers of anti-EBV antibodies and increased EBV seroconversion rates have been observed in SLE patients as compared with healthy control individuals. Serologic responses do not directly reflect EBV status within the body. Clarification of the precise status of EBV infection in SLE patients would help to improve our understanding of the role played by EBV in this disease. In the present study we determined EBV types in SLE patients (<I>n </I>= 66) and normal control individual (<I>n </I>= 63) by direct PCR analysis of mouthwash samples. We also compared EBV load in blood between SLE patients (<I>n </I>= 24) and healthy control individuals (<I>n </I>= 29) using semiquantitative PCR assay. The number of infections and EBV type distribution were similar between adult SLE patients and healthy control individuals (98.5% versus 94%). Interestingly, the EBV burden in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) was over 15-fold greater in SLE patients than in healthy control individuals (mean ± standard deviation: 463 ± 570 EBV genome copies/3 μg PBMC DNA versus 30 ± 29 EBV genome copies/3 μg PBMC DNA; <I>P </I>= 0.001), suggesting that EBV infection is abnormally regulated in SLE. The abnormally increased proportion of EBV-infected B cells in the SLE patients may contribute to enhanced autoantibody production in this disease.</P>

창업은 세계적으로 新성장동력과 생존전략의 하나로 비중 있게 논의되고 있다. 창업에 대한 관심과 지원은 지속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 배경 하에 지식기반 창업기업은 여러 산업 분야에서 혁신의 견인차 역할을 수행할 뿐만 아니라 국가 경제발전의 일익을 담당하고 있다. 지식기반창업은 창업의 측면에서 경제적 파급효과가 높기 때문에 기술기반 창업기업의 고용 증가율이 다른 타 산업의 창업기업보다 높은 것으로 나타나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 지식기반산업과 업종을 정의하고 산업연관표와 매칭할 수 있는 산업부문별 세부산업을 재분류하였다. 이를 바탕으로 산업연관분석을 이용하여 지식기반 산업의 최종수요 발생 시에 경제적 파급효과를 분석하였다. 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 볼 때 지식기반창업 업종은 타 산업에 부가가치 유발효과, 고용유발효과의 파급력이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 지식기반창업의 육성을 통해 경제성장의 새로운 新성장동력으로써 역할은 물론, 파급효과를 이용하여 전체 산업의 성장을 견인하는 기회로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Yongchonppon, one of the native varities, is the highest clod resistant. For its practical use, feeding test has been implemented in the ordinary rearing and in the branch realing 1987 through 1988. The results are summarized as follows. 1. The feeding of Yongchonppong at the 4th and 5th instar made 5% decrease in spring and 10% decrease of cocoon yield in autumn, respectively, while cocoon shell ratio was a little less and percentage of raw silk was a little high, as compared to the feeding of Kaeryangppong. 2. The feeding of Yongchonppong at the 4th instar only showed nearly same rearing result as the feeding of Kaeryangppong. 3. In case of the feeding of Yongchonppong at the 4th instar and early stage of the 5th instar, cocoon yield and percentage of raw silk marked 96% and 97∼98% of Kaeryangppong. 4. The total nitrogen and crude protein of Yongchonnppong was less, while the total carbohydrate, crude ash and crude fat were high, as compared to those of Kaeryangppong. It had more phosphate and boric and less manganese than Kaeryangppong 5. The leaf aereal weight of Yongchonppong was 1.57g/dcm2 and the leaf thickness was 113μ. The moisture reducing rate marked 41.3% after three hour exposure to the air.

Yongchonppong is liable to withering of leaf and it is lowering leaf value for the feed. In this respect covering of the vinylon gauze over the feed has been carried out in the branch rearing system to sustain leaf value as itself. The covering of the vinylon gauze over Yongchonppong marks 7% and 9% increment of cocoon yield in dry season, spring rearing season. as compared to the non-covering of the vinylon gauze over Kaeryangppong and Yongchonppong, respectively. There was no significant differences in cocoon shell percentages of them. In more humid environment than average relative humidity in Korea the rearing results of "Yongchonppong" was improved by covering with vinylon gauze after feeding compared with the non-covered rearing. However, the vinylon gauge covering was not effective for improving the rearing results of "Kaeryangppong" . No effect of the vinylon gauze covering was seen in the area where it frequently rains and raining season lasts. In case of the non-covering of the vinylon gauze, Yongchonppong reduces repidly in the first three hours of exposure to the air, as compared to Kaeryangppong, The water content reduction rate of Yongchonppong in 6 hours of exposure to the air marks 7% to so when the dry vinylon gauze cover and 17 to 26% when the wet vinylon gauze covers, as compared to 58.8% of it for the non-covering of the vinylon gauze.

Background: The purpose of this study was to review the clinical features of oromaxillofacial infections in patients presenting to a hospital emergency ward, to identify the key factors affecting the requirement for hospitalization, and the potential risk factors predisposing to a prolonged length of hospital stay. Methods: A retrospective medical record review of the 598 patients treated for oromaxillofacial infection from 2013 to 2017 at the oral and maxillofacial surgery department, Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital, was conducted. The following information was collected from each patient: sex, age, past medical history, site of infection, etiology, admission or outpatient care, level of C-reactive protein (mg/dL), fascial spaces involved, treatment method, and duration of hospitalization. Chi-squared tests were used to identify risk factors, which were further analyzed using multivariable logistic regression. Results: A total of 606 patients were eligible for inclusion in the study, of which eight were excluded due to having incomplete charts; thus, 598 patients were included: 55% were male, mean patient age was 47.1 ± 19.9 years, and 12.9% of patients were diabetic. Furthermore, 71.2% of patients had infection originating in the mandible; the most common tooth of origin was lower posterior, and 29.8% of patients were hospitalized. Risk factors for hospital admission were elderly patients with concurrent disease, elevated C-reactive protein level, and multiple-space infection in the oromaxillofacial area. The duration of hospitalization was correlated with both diabetes and age. Conclusions: The requirement for hospital admission is determined by the severity of the infection; even severe infections, once treated with appropriate surgery, have no relation to the length of hospital stay. The important risk factors for increased duration of hospitalization are diabetes mellitus and older age. The understanding of risk factors associated with a prolonged hospital stay during the treatment of oromaxillofacial infection will aid in treatment planning as well as highlight the importance of adequate diabetes control in patients at risk of such infection.
Chromone and Chromanone Derivatives as Strand Transfer Inhibitors of HIV-1 Integrase

HIV-1 integrase catalyzes terminal cleavage at the 3' end of the proviral DNA, removing a pair of bases and causing strand transfer by joining the 3' end to 5'-phosphates in the target DNA. Several aryl 1,3-diketo acids that can inhibit the strand transfer reaction of HIV-1 IN have been identified. Here we synthesized a new series of compounds with a chromone or chromanone ring as conformationally constrained scaffolds of 1,3-diketo acids, and then tested their ability to inhibit HIV-1 IN-mediated strand transfer. All compounds moderately inhibited HIV-1 IN activity, indicating that the conformational restriction of one keto group into a chromone or chromanone ring decreases inhibition of the HIV-1 IN strand transfer.

The nature of the signals collected by an SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) in order to form images are all dependent on the detector used to collect them, and the quality of an acquired image is strongly influenced by detector performance. Therefore, the development of detector with high performance is very important in pulling up the resolution of SEM This study presents the secondary electron detector for use in scanning electron microscope, electric circuit and I/V conversion circuit for driving that detector.
