      • UHRF2 mRNA Expression is Low in Malignant Glioma but Silencing Inhibits the Growth of U251 Glioma Cells in vitro

        UHRF2 is a member of the ubiquitin plant homeo domain RING finger family, which has been proven to be frequently up-regulated in colorectal cancer cells and play a role as an oncogene in breast cancer cells. However, the role of UHRF2 in glioma cells remains unclear. In this study, we performed real-time quantitative PCR on 32 pathologically confirmed glioma samples (grade I, 4 cases; grade II, 11 cases; grade III, 10 cases; and grade IV, 7 cases; according to the 2007 WHO classification system) and four glioma cell lines (A172, U251, U373, and U87). The expression of UHRF2 mRNA was significantly lower in the grade III and grade IV groups compared with the noncancerous brain tissue group, whereas its expression was high in A172, U251, and U373 glioma cell lines. An in vitro assay was performed to investigate the functions of UHRF2. Using a lentivirus-based RNA interference (RNAi) approach, we down-regulated UHRF2 expression in the U251 glioma cell line. This down-regulation led to the inhibition of cell proliferation, an increase in cell apoptosis, and a change of cell cycle distribution, in which S stage cells decreased and G2/M stage cells increased. Our results suggest that UHRF2 may be closely related to tumorigenesis and the development of gliomas.

        Stable and Recyclable SERS Substrates Based on Au-Loaded PET Nanocomposite Superhydrophobic Surfaces

        Novel surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates with stable and recyclable properties have been prepared by assembling gold nanoparticles-loaded PET (AuNPs/PET) nanocomposite superhydrophobic surfaces. After a physical vapor deposition process, the AuNPs/PET surfaces with vast plasmonic "hot spots" showed superhydrophobic properties, and it can hold target molecules droplets for rapid SERS detection. From blown off droplets and rinsed substrates with water after detection, we found that no probe molecules remained on the surfaces from Raman spectra. The prepared substrates were not contaminated in the detection process. Furthermore, the new SERS substrates were used for rapidly detecting droplets of crystal violet (CV) and the lowest detection concentration was about 1 x 10 -9 M. The as-prepared AuNPs/PET substrates also have good performance in terms of reproducibility and recyclability.

      • Simulation and Analysis for Error from Satellite Tracking Segment Anti-spoofing

        It is the first and most important step in the detection of satellite navigation deception attack. For the detection of the regenerative deception attack, a method based on carrier phase tracking spectrum analysis is proposed. The simulation experiment results show that this method can be used in the case that the false alarm probability is no more than 0.5%, and the detection probability is almost 100%. The method is not necessary for the transformation of the hardware, the signal processing module in the software receiver can be added to the corresponding processing module, and the detection of the deception attack can be realized.

        SOLUTIONS OF A CLASS OF COUPLED SYSTEMS OF FUZZY DELAY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

        The purpose of this paper is to introduce and study a class of coupled systems of fuzzy delay differential equations involving fuzzy initial values and fuzzy source functions of triangular type. We assume that these initial values and source functions are triangular fuzzy functions and define solutions of the coupled systems as a triangular fuzzy function matrix consisting of real functional matrices. The method of triangular fuzzy function, fractional steps and fuzzy terms separation are used to solve the problems. Furthermore, we prove existence and uniqueness of solution for the considered systems, and then a solution algorithm is proposed. Finally, we present an example to illustrate our main results and give some work that can be done later.

      • Speckle-free digital holographic recording of a diffusely reflecting object.

        <P>We demonstrate holographic recording without speckle noise using the digital holographic technique called optical scanning holography (OSH). First, we record a complex hologram of a diffusely reflecting (DR) object using OSH. The incoherent mode of OSH makes it possible to record the complex hologram without speckle noise. Second, we convert the complex hologram to an off-axis real hologram digitally and finally we reconstruct the real hologram using an amplitude-only spatial light modulator (SLM) without twin-image noise and speckle noise. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time demonstrating digital holographic recording of a DR object without speckle noise.</P>

        The detector performance depends on the clock accuracy and the model, the clock parameters estimation error will lead to a decline in the performance of the detectors. Therefore, in order to reach the detector achieves a set of performance, it need to adjust the receiver of the crystal quality. In this paper, the method of detecting the clock states of the satellite navigation receiver is used to detect the receiver. The clock state model of the receiver is established in the static and motion mode, and the time variation of the clock state is analyzed.

      • Passive Track and Location Method with TDOA for Moving Target

        Aiming at the problem of passive tracking of moving target, this paper establishes a mathematical model for the multi station time difference location and passive tracking of the moving radiation source and proposes a passive tracking algorithm based on extended Calman filter (Kalman Filter Extended, EKF). At first, the two order constant velocity motion model is established, the initial value and the initial co-variance of the Cal-man filter are used as the initial value and the initial co-variance of the system. The simulation results show that the extended Cal-man filter is used to achieve the real-time results of the time difference location. The positioning accuracy is greatly improved, and the target trajectory is more obvious. The tracking results can be approximate. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by the engineering experiments.

        Deficiency or activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor ⍺ reduces the tissue concentrations of endogenously synthesized docosahexaenoic acid in C57BL/6J mice

        BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an n-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LCPUFA), is acquired by dietary intake or the in vivo conversion of α-linolenic acid. Many enzymes participating in LCPUFA synthesis are regulated by peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα). Therefore, it was hypothesized that the tissue accretion of endogenously synthesized DHA could be modified by PPARα. MATERIALS/METHODS: The tissue DHA concentrations and mRNA levels of genes participating in DHA biosynthesis were compared among PPARα homozygous (KO), heterozygous (HZ), and wild type (WT) mice (Exp I), and between WT mice treated with clofibrate (PPARα agonist) or those not treated (Exp II). In ExpII, the expression levels of the proteins associated with DHA function in the brain cortex and retina were also measured. An n3-PUFA depleted/replenished regimen was applied to mitigate the confounding effects of maternal DHA. RESULTS: PPARα ablation reduced the hepatic Acox, Fads1, and Fads2 mRNA levels, as well as the DHA concentration in the liver, but not in the brain cortex. In contrast, PPARα activation increased hepatic Acox, Fads1, Fads2, and Elovl5 mRNA levels, but reduced the DHA concentrations in the liver, retina, and phospholipid of brain cortex, and decreased mRNA and protein levels of the brain-derived neurotrophic factor in brain cortex. CONCLUSIONS: LCPUFA enzyme expression was altered by PPARα. Either PPARα deficiency or activation-decreased tissue DHA concentration is a stimulus for further studies to determine the functional significance.

        Three-dimensional display of a horizontal-parallax-only hologram

        <P>We propose a three-dimensional (3D) holographic display by converting an optically recorded complex full-parallax (FP) hologram to an off-axis horizontal-parallax-only (HPO) hologram. First, we record the complex FP hologram of an object using optical scanning holography. We then convert the complex FP hologram to an off-axis HPO hologram through fringe-matched Gaussian low-pass filtering and with the introduction of an off-axis reference. Finally, we reconstruct the off-axis HPO hologram optically using an amplitude-only spatial light modulator. Until now, only computer-generated HPO holograms have been displayed optically. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of a 3D display of an optically recorded HPO hologram.</P>

        Purification efficiency of eight aquatic plant species in an artificial floating island system in relation to extracellular enzyme activity and microbial community

        The floating island system exploits the combination of aquatic plants, microorganisms, and extracellular enzymes to purify wastewater. We investigated the purification efficiency of eight aquatic plant species cultured in wastewater. The relationships of plant purification capacity with extracellular enzyme activity and microbial community were analyzed to explore the crucial factors that affect the plant purification capacity and the mechanism of pollutants removal in different plant systems. Three plant species, namely Oenanthe javanica, Thalia dealbata, and lris pseudacorus, were most effective for purification of ammonium-nitrogen (NH₄<SUP>+</SUP>-N), total phosphate (TP), and chemical oxygen demand (COD) with maximum efficiencies of 76.09, 85.87, and 89.10%, respectively. Urease, alkaline phosphatase (AP), and β-glucosidase activities were significantly and positively correlated with root system development (P < 0.05). Activities of urease and AP were positively correlated with NH₄<SUP>+</SUP>-N and TP removal, respectively. The magnitude of urease and AP activity was generally consistent with the plant’s capacity to remove NH₄<SUP>+</SUP>-N and TP. β-Glucosidase activity and COD removal were not significantly correlated. The dominant microbial phylum in each species treatment was Proteobacteria. Alphaproteobacteria and Bacteroidia showed > 1% relative abundance and greater involvement in degradation of pollutants in the experimental system.
