Anaplasma marginale and A. platys were detected and characterized (16S rDNA sequence analysis) from dairy and indigenous cattle, and the latter in domestic dogs in Vietnam. A phylogenetic tree was inferred from 26 representative strains/species of Anaplasma spp. including 10 new sequences from Vietnam. Seven of our Vietnamese sequences fell into the clade of A. marginale and 3 into A. platys, with strong nodal support of 99 and 90%, respectively. Low genetic distances (0.2-0.4%) within each species supported the identification. Anaplasma platys is able to infect humans. Our discovery of this species in cattle and domestic dogs raises considerable concern about zoonotic transmission in Viet- nam. Further systematic investigations are needed to gain data for Anaplasma spp. and members of Anaplasmataceae in animal hosts, vectors and humans across Vietnam.
A New Dimeric Lignan from the Stems of Willughbeia edulis

As part of our continued study on the chemical constituents of Willughbeia edulis stems, a new dimeric lignan named edulignan (1) was isolated from its EtOAc-soluble extract. Based on NMR spectroscopic interpretation, the planar structure of 1 has been suggested to have two 2-substituted 4-chromanone subunits with different stereochemical configurations. In addition, the MS/MS analysis of the products obtained by acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of 1 was supportive of its structure. Unfornatually, the new compound 1 did not show 𝛼-glucosidase inhibitory activity with an IC<sub>50</sub> value > 250 𝜇M.

Realizing a long-term, high-performance, and affordable photocatalytic setting for water splitting processesremains challenging despite the tremendous promise. We present a direct fabrication of graphitic carbon nitride-wrappedtitanate nanotube array (gC3N4-wrapped TNA) heterojunction photoelectrodes via a chemical vapor deposition-likeprocess that leverages the pyrolysis and sublimation of melamine at 500 oC. The gC3N4-wrapped TNA heterojunctionphotoelectrodes show a 16 times enhancement of current density and photo-response than bare TNAs. Such a remarkableenhancement comes from the effective charge separation of the gC3N4/TNA interfaces, consequently acceleratingwater splitting to generate oxygen under visible light. In addition, our gC3N4-wrapped TNA photoelectrodes are developedunder a neutral condition that significantly increases their widespread use for practical devices.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P> <I>Piper nigrum</I> L. is commonly used as a traditional medicine and food in many countries. It has been reported to have anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-tumor, anti-mutagenic, anti-diabetic, and anti-inflammatory properties. However, the effect of <I>P. nigrum</I> on allergic rhinitis (AR) has been unclear. In the present study, an OVA-induced AR mice model were established to investigate the anti-allergic, anti-inflammation properties of <I>P. nigrum</I> fruit extract (PNE). Oral administrations of PNE inhibited the allergic nasal symptoms including rubbing and sneezing in the early-phage of AR. In both NALF and nasal tissue, PNE suppressed the inflammatory cells accumulation, specifically with eosinophils in NALF. Additionally, PNE prevented the activation of STAT3 and NFκBp65 signaling in the cytoplasm which led to increasing the synthesis of the anti-inflammatory Th1 cytokines and suppressing the inflammatory Th2, Th17 cytokines. Pressure effects on EXAFS Debye-Waller factor and melting curve of solid krypton

The pressure effects on atomic mean-square displacement, extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) Debye-Waller factor and melting temperature of solid krypton have been investigated in within the statistical moment method scheme in quantum statistical mechanics. By assuming the interaction between atoms can be described by Buckingham potential, we performed the numerical calculations for krypton up to pressure 120 GPa. Our calculations show that the atomic mean-square displacement and EXAFS Debye-Waller factor of krypton crystal depend strongly on pressure. They make the robust reduction of the EXAFS peak height. Our results are in good and reasonable agreements with available experimental data. This approach gives us a relatively simple method for qualitatively calculating high-pressure thermo-physical properties of materials. Moreover, it can be used to verify future high-pressure experimental and theoretical works.
