A Novel Green Stabilization of TiO2 Nanoparticles onto Cotton

        Muhammad Tayyab Noman,Muhammad Azeem Ashraf,Hafsa Jamshaid,Azam Ali 한국섬유공학회 2018 Fibers and polymers Vol.19 No.11

Facile embedding of TiO2 nanoparticles onto cotton fabric has been successfully attained by ultraviolet light irradiations. The adhesion of nanoparticles with fibre surface, tensile behaviour and physicochemical changes before and after ultraviolet treatment were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray and inductive couple plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy. Experimental variables i.e. dosage of TiO2 nanoparticles, temperature of the system and time of ultraviolet irradiations were optimised by central composite design and response surface methodology. Moreover, two different mathematical models were developed for incorporated TiO2 onto cotton and tensile strength of cotton after ultraviolet treatment and used further to testify the obtained results. Self-clean fabric through a synergistic combination of cotton with highly photo active TiO2 nanoparticles was produced. Stability against ultraviolet irradiations and self-cleaning properties of the produced fabric were evaluated.

Equilibrium kinetic and thermodynamic studies of Cr(VI) adsorption onto a novel adsorbent of Eucalyptus camaldulensis waste: Batch and column reactors

        Hajira Haroon,Tayyab Ashfaq,Syed Mubashar Hussain Gardazi,Tauqir Ali Sherazi,Muhammad Ali,Naim Rashid,Muhammad Bilal 한국화학공학회 2016 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.33 No.10

Cr(VI) adsorption onto Eucalyptus camaldulensis sawdust (ECS) waste was investigated in batch and column reactors. Various parameters, including the adsorbent dose, pH, initial concentration, particle size, contact time and temperature were optimized. The maximum adsorption capacity (35.58mg g−1, 71.16%) was achieved at pH 2.0. Data fitted well to Freundlich and Halsey’s models (R2=0.992), indicating the multilayer adsorption of Cr(VI). It obeys the pseudo-second order kinetics. Endothermic and non-spontaneous nature of Cr(VI) adsorption was observed with positive values of changes in enthalpy (9.83 kJ mol−1), and Gibbs-free energy (1.52, 1.38, 1.24, 1.10 and 0.97 kJmol−1), respectively. In this column study, the breakthrough curve time increased from 670 to 1,270min by increasing the bed height from 5 to 15 cm, respectively. Column data was found well fitted to bed depth service time model. Adsorption capacity at 60% breakthrough was 2,443.636mg L−1. The study indicates that ECS waste can be a promising adsorbent for Cr(VI) remediation from industrial effluents.

      • The Taliban Takeover of Afghanistan intensifies Indian Worries

Dost Muhammad Barrech,Ahmad Ali,Tayyab Ali 아시아사회과학학회 2021 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.4 No.3

The Taliban takeover of Afghanistan on August 15, 2021 after the US hasty withdrawal has created innumerable challenges for India strategically of the former. New Delhi in the presence of the US in last 20 years invested USD $3 billion in Afghanistan aimed at enhancing its geo-economics and geo-political gains getting access to Central Asia and encircling Pakistan. The tumultuous and irresponsible pullout of the US troops stunned India. New Delhi, in Afghanistan’s scenario, appears to be the most isolated country in the region, the latter is exceedingly wary of an increasingly influence of China and Pakistan in the country. India conceives both Beijing and Islamabad as arch-rivals. Intriguingly, the Taliban are fascinated by forging better ties with both China and Pakistan that further intensifies the worries of New Delhi. The Taliban in their recent statement regarding Kashmir categorically said that they would raise voice for Kashmiri Muslims. The statement of Taliban for Kashmir Muslims has jolted the Midi’s regime. The Taliban regime would have spill over effects on Kashmir. This, paper, thus, would analyse India’s growing reservations and uncertainties over the Taliban takeover of the country damaging its geo-political and geo-economic gains, soft power and making the country isolated in the region.

Field Evaluation and Fiber Analysis of Transgenic Cotton

Bushra Rashid,Ghazanfar Ali Khan,Tayyab Husnain,Sheikh Riazuddin 한국작물학회 2009 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.12 No.3

We report the field evaluation of second generation of transgenic cotton expressing Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) genes cry1Ac and cry2A under CaMV 35S promoter. Sixty-five transgenic lines were grown under RCBD design. Transgenic plants exhibited inherent ability to resist target insect (p < 0.05 and 0.01). Morphological studies showed significant reduction in plant height making them favorable for breeding. Yield was significantly increased for the transgenic lines. Fiber analysis showed improved gin turn out 40% for transgenic lines in comparison to 32% for non-transformed lines. Fibre quality of transgenic lines was not affected when compared with non transgenic lines. Inheritance pattern for transgenic lines suggests the need of further studies to understand the complex molecular mechanisms for resistance management and biosafety studies to develop new Bt cotton varieties. Perception of Electronic News Media of Pakistan in the Digital Age

Saeed, Muzammil,Farooq, Tayyab,Khan, Muazam Ali,Mahmood, Nasir Center for Asian Public Opinion ResearchCollaborat 2021 Asian journal for public opinion research Vol.9 No.3

The news and views of Pakistani television channels are extensively shared on digital media for information or analysis where the general public discusses overt and covert agendas by mentioning their factual and presentational style. This study contributes to the contemporary studies of media perception through focus group interviews with 72 randomly selected master's and bachelor's students studying Media and Communication at the School of Media and Communication Studies, University of Management and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan to provide information about the feelings and observations of future journalists and media literates. In summary, the findings of our research exposed the negative perception of Pakistani electronic media among the participants due to what they perceived as biased, inaccurate, and unethical reporting.

Microstructural and Mechanical Characterization of Hybrid Aluminum Matrix Composite Containing Boron Carbide and Al-Cu-Fe Quasicrystals

        Mahmood Khan,Muhammad Zulfaqar,Fahad Ali,Tayyab Subhani 대한금속·재료학회 2017 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.23 No.4

Hybrid aluminum matrix composites containing particles of boron carbide and quasicrystals were manufactured toexplore the combined effect of reinforcements on microstructural evolution and mechanical performance of thecomposites. The particles were incorporated at a loading of 6 wt% each making a total of 12 wt% reinforcement inpure aluminum. For comparison, two composites containing individually reinforced 12 wt% particles were alsoprepared along with a reference specimen of pure aluminum. Ball milling technique was employed to mix the compositeconstituents. The green bodies of composite powders were prepared by uniaxial pressing at room temperaturefollowed by consolidation by pressureless sintering under inert atmosphere. The microstructural characterizationwas performed using scanning electron microscopy while phase identification was carried out by X-ray diffraction. The mechanical characterization was performed by Vickers hardness and compression tests. Hybrid compositesshowed increased compressive properties while the composites containing solely quasicrystals demonstratedimproved hardness. The increase in mechanical performance was related to the microstructural evolution due tothe presence and uniform dispersion of binary particles.
