In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of modelling image strips, instead of individual scenes, that have been acquired from the same orbital pass through the process of bundle adjustments. Under this approach, First, a rational function model (RFM) of the strip image is generated from the RFMs of individual images, such that the entire strip of images can be treated as a single image. Correction parameters are calculated through bundle adjustments between strip images. For the experiment, we used two stereo strips. Each strip image consists of three KOMPSAT-3A scenes. Experimental results show that it was possible to improve the initial model by using the control points located in a specific region of the strip. We showed that absolute orientation with moderate accuracy of 2 m errors were achieved from 12 ground control points for the three-image strips. The test results indicate that bundle adjustment of strip images could be more efficient than bundle adjustments of the individual scenes.

This paper presents a vision based Lane Following Control System (LFCS) and the experimental results of field operating test. The LFCS is more advanced and complicated system than the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) which is in mass production. The proposed LFCS is designed based on the model predictive control method which includes the relation of vehicle and road. A steering torque is derived in real-time to follow the lane center line by using parameters which are acquired from camera. The performance of the proposed LFCS is evaluated via computer simulations and field test. It is verified that the proposed LFCS can be helpful for reducing the driver’s workload and can assist the driver during driving.

X-ray technology is a good solution for inspecting inner defects of industrial products. In case of conventional x-ray radiography images, however, it is very difficult to correctly recognize the internal shape of objects, because all objects on the projection line are overlapped in the images. On the other hand, x-ray cross-sectional imaging systems forming an arbitrary cross-section image of a 3D object make it easy to inspect the inner shape or structure of it. PCB solder joint inspection is one of the industrial fields which need such an x-ray inspection system. In this paper, a newly developed DT system is introduced, and the x-ray cross-sectional images of PCB solder joints is acquired from this proposed system.

Background: Lung cancer has a high incidence worldwide, and most lung cancer-associated deaths are attributable to cancer metastasis. Although several medicinal properties of Panax ginseng Meyer have been reported, the effect of ginsenosides Rk1 and Rg5 on epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) stimulated by transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF- β1) and self-renewal in A549 cells is relatively unknown. Methods: We treated TGF-β1 or alternatively Rk1 and Rg5 in A549 cells. We used western blot analysis, real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), wound healing assay, Matrigel invasion assay, and anoikis assays to determine the effect of Rk1 and Rg5 on TGF-mediated EMT in lung cancer cell. In addition, we performed tumorsphere formation assays and real-time PCR to evaluate the stem-like properties. Results: EMT is induced by TGF-β1 in A549 cells causing the development of cancer stem-like features. Expression of E-cadherin, an epithelial marker, decreased and an increase in vimentin expression was noted. Cell mobility, invasiveness, and anoikis resistance were enhanced with TGF-β1 treatment. In addition, the expression of stem cell markers, CD44, and CD133, was also increased. Treatment with Rk1 and Rg5 suppressed EMT by TGF-β1 and the development of stemness in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, Rk1 and Rg5 markedly suppressed TGF-β1-induced metalloproteinase-2/9 (MMP2/9) activity, and activation of Smad2/3 and nuclear factor kappa B/extra-cellular signal regulated kinases (NF-κB/ERK) pathways in lung cancer cells. Conclusions: Rk1 and Rg5 regulate the EMT inducing TGF-β1 by suppressing the Smad and NF-κB/ERK pathways (non-Smad pathway).
