        Korean English Teacher's Disempowerment in English-only Classes

The Sociolinguistic journal of Korea 18(1). In this case study, we have focused on the disempowerment of a Korean English teacher (KET) in English-only classrooms. Six English as a foreign language (EFL) classrooms in a Korean high school were observed and analyzed by using interpretive discourse analysis. Out of the six classes, three representative classrooms were both video- and audio-taped. The results show that the English-only classes could weaken the KETs' power via three mechanisms: (a) calling the KETs' last name for choral greetings at the beginning of the class, (b) students' group solidarity and peer pressure between classmates, and (c) the students' excessively collaborative approach to peer assistance. It is argued that the exclusive English-only instruction disempowers the KETs' status and dismantles their vocational identity. In order to remedy the current situation, within a scaffolding supported by the eclectic use of first language where necessary for effective class management, KETs are empowered and overcome constraints imposed by the limited L2 oral competence of some non-native English teachers.

        Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common human malignant neoplasm, accounting for 75% of all non-melanoma skin cancer. The incidence of BCC is strongly correlated with sun exposure as well as older age. Therefore, the vast majority of BCCs is observed in elderly patients on the sun-exposed skin of the head and neck with a frequency of more than 80%. BCC is very rare on sun-protected skin such as the perianal and genital regions and other etiologic factors must be considered in these cases. Although the pathogenesis of vulvar BCC is unclear, early diagnosis is very important. Because BCC in these areas sometimes seems innocuous, it is recommended that a biopsy of all suspect lesions be performed. We report a woman with BCC of the vulva treated with wide local resection and reviews the literatures on this subject.

        우주방사선차폐 전자공학기술조사 연구

        오늘 날 인공위성을 이용하는 통신, 방송, 기상, 환경모니터링 및 원격탐사 등이 각광을 받고 있는 때에 위성에 설치되는 수많은 전자제품 및 부품들의 우주방사선에 대한 내구성이 매우 중요한 문제로 제기되고 있다. 이러한 관점에서 국내에서는 아직 확보할 수 없는 우주방사선차폐 전자공학기술에 관한 정보자료를 조사 수집하여 기술적으로 직접 활용해야할 필요성이 시급하게 대두되고 있다. 따라서 선진국에서 개발된 우주방사선차폐를 위한 첨단전자공학기술에 관한 기술정보·자료를 체계적으로 서술한다.

      • 傳達 GATE 組合論理를 利用한 8-bit COMS DAC回路의 設計

        This paper describes a 100MHz 8 - b CMOS D/A converter with a current output. To guarantee a low glitch energy, a decorder using transmission function theory and a deglicthing circuit are presented. An integral linearity error caused by error distributions of current sources is reduced by a symmetrical switching. The simulation results show that the maximum conversion rate is 135MHz and the integral errors are less than 0.5LSB. The maximum glitch energy is lOpV.s. The entire circuit dissipates 63.8mW at a 100MHz conversion rate while operating from a single 5V power supply. The circuit is simulated in a 1.2㎛ CMOS process.

      • 저강도 초음파치료의 골절치유 효과

        AbstractNoninvasive low intensity ultrasound has been shown to be an effective means of accelerating bone fracture repair in both animal and clinical studies. The effects of ultrasound stimulation on bone repair after fibular osteotomy were assessed in a rabbit fibular fracture model. Bilateral closed fibular fractures were made in skeletally mature male White Japanese rabbits. In this study, 24 subjects were randomly divided into 2 groups: experimental group 1 (n=12), and experimental group 2 (n=12). Experimental group 1 received 0.875MHz continuous ultrasound and Experimental group 2 was treated with 3 MHz continuous ultrasound. The ultrasound intensity was 50 mW/ciif and treatment time was 10 minutes for every session in both groups. In each rabbit, one fibula served as a control and the other was subjected to ultrasound treatment 5 times per week for 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, rabbits were sacrificed and the ratios of the area between the trabeculae and bone marrow of the fibulae were calculated. At the end of the experimental period, 14 of the 24 rabbits were excluded due to complications from surgery or inadequate fracture status for this study. There was no statistically significant difference in the trabeculae area between experimental leg and control leg in experimental group 1 and experimental group 2 (p>0.05). And there was also no statistic- statistically significant difference between experimental group 1 and experimental group 2 according to ultrasound treatment frequencies, 0.875MHz and 3 MHz (p>0.05). These data suggest that in Japanese white rabbits, low intensity ultrasound stimulation does not facilitate fracture repair nor is there any difference in fracture repair results between ultrasound frequencies, 0.875 MHz and 3 MHz.

        방사성 폐기물 시멘트 고화체로 부터의 ?? 및 ?? 용출특성 연구

        방사성폐기물 처리, 처분의 안정성 평가를 위하여 방사성 고화체에서 용출되는 137Cs과 90Sr의 방사능 용출율과 누적용출분율을 계측·분석하여 시멘트를 사용한 방사성 고화체에서 Cs+과 Sr++의 용출특성을 조사하였다. 모의방사성 폐액의 몰농도, 시멘트의 종류, 첨가물질 및 붕산농도 등을 변화시키면서 sodium silicate법과 중화법으로 원주형 시멘트 고화제를 제작하였다. 여기에서 가압경수로형 원자력 발전소의 모의 농축폐액의 시멘트 고화체로부터 용출연구는 IAEA의 추천방법에 따라서 수행되었다. 실험결과는 대부분 이미 보고된 연구자료들과 잘 일치하고 있으나 수밀성 시멘트 고화체에서는 상당히 높은 방사능 용출율을 보여주고 있음으로써 방사성 폐기를 고화체에 그 사용이 적합하지 않음을 알게 된다. For the safety assessment of radwaste treatment and disposal, the leaching characteristics of Cs++ and Sr++ from the cement-solidified radwastes was investigated by means of the survey and analysis of the activity leach rate and cumulative leach fraction of 137Cs and 90Sr leaching from solidified radwastes. The cylindrical cement-solidified samples were made by the sodium silicate method and neutralization method changing the mole density of simulated liquid radwaste, type of cement, adding material and concentration of boric acid. The leaching study was carried out by the method using simulated PWR concentrated liquid radwaste solidified in cement that had been processed following the recommendations of IAEA. All the experimental results are in well accordance with the research data reported previously, but the watertight cement-solidified radwastes show rather high leach rate of radioactivity. It is learned, therefore, that the watertight cement is not adequate as the material for the solidified radwastes.

      • IDDQ 테스팅을 이용한 로직 레벨이서의 합선 결함 검출에 관한 연구

        COMS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) 회로에서 보면, 많은 합선 결함이 AND나 OR 효과가 아닌 결정되지 않은 Output 값을 발생 시킨다. 종래에 사용해 오고 있던 로직 테스팅 방법으로는 이와 같은 문제점을 발견할 수 없으며, 따라서 IDDQ 기법을 사용함으로서 이를 극복할 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 대단히 작은 로직 테스트 군을 이용하여 로직상의 문제점과 합선 결함을 동시에 검출해 낸다. 이에 관한 시뮬레이션을 위해 일련의 조합회로들과 순차회로들이 사용되며, 또한 IDDQ 테스트만을 위해 생성 되어진 테스트 벡터들의 결과와도 비교 논의 되어진다. In CMOS circuit, many bridging faults result in neither wired-OR nor wired-AND, but rather cause an indeterminate output voltage. Conventional logic testing can not detect this type of faults. In this paper, we examine the detect efficiency of the stuck-at test sets for bridging faults in Iddq environment. The stuck-at faults are detected by the logic test and Iddq testing detects bridging faults. Near-minimal stuck-at test sets are used for this combined logic and Iddq test environment. These near-minimal stuck-at test sets are generated using standard ATPG(Automatic Test Pattern Generator), using collapsed fault lists. Sets of combinational and sequential benchmark circuits are used under this combined test environment. A comparison is given for the fault coverage obtained under this combined test environment against other study based on Iddq-based test sets.

        성범죄(性犯罪)의 부검(剖檢)과 그 실태(實態)

        Recently, the incidence of the sexual crimes abruptly increases in Korea and the death resulting from a deviate sexual act presents a similar course. Particularly in thw sexual crimes, bizzare findings are shown both at the scene of the death and in the pattern and type of the injuries to the deceased. So it essentially requires a very close working with wide experince and specialized knowledge in the medicolegal examination and also should be established a close relationship between the medical examiners and the law enforcement personals. Hence, in this paper, statistical and systematical observation based on the data of NISI autopsy cases is throughout reviewed.
