A DSP-Based Differential Boost Inverter with Maximum Power Point Tracking

This paper presents a DSP-based differential boost inverter (DBI) with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for photovoltaic (PV) applications. In a conventional DC/AC MPPT system, power of photovoltaic is delivered into two stages, they are DC/DC boost converter and buck type DC/AC inverter. A DC link capacitor appears between these two stages. Furthermore the system has higher complexity and costly than that of DC/AC MPPT system with a single stage boost inverter. Here, a single stage differential boost inverter is implemented. Since it can produce a sinusoidal output voltage higher than its DC voltage input, it is not only able to reduce the stage number of DC/AC MPPT system but also able to eliminate the DC link capacitor. The MPPT method employed in this study is P&O method. This technique is widely used due to its easy implementation, and unimportant extreme weather change consideration. To implement this technique, a digital signal processor (DSP) was used. In this paper, a review of DBI and MPPT implementation are presented. Finally a 400W laboratory prototype has been built. The result shows that the P&O MPPT method has been successfully implemented for various PV power and it can reach 95% maximum MPPT accuracy. In addition, the DBI is able to produce a sinusoidal output voltage at the various PV power conditions.
Institutional Strategy of Palm Oil Independent Smallholders: A Case Study in Indonesia

This article aims to describe the institutional structuring strategy of independent smallholders in accelerating sustainable economic development, by taking the example of the cow-coconut integration system (SISKA) problem in Sialang Palas Village, Riau. The method used identified stakeholders related to SISKA; the stakeholder’s goals and interests, farmers’ social and institutional bases, and self-help farmer socio-economic networks. First, identification of various factors through strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis techniques. Second, through the Modern Political Economy analysis technique. Third, imparting knowledge and skills to the farmers and village officials through a collective learning process in utilizing natural resource waste and social resources. The results showed that the farmer management strategy in the reform era started by clustering the interests of farmers. The dynamics of structuring group relations between the chairman and members with farmers outside the group are the basis for strengthening the local ideology of independence in the future. This institutional structuring strategy that focuses on access to farm power in the village decision-making process encourages a more integrated work of farmer organizations. The analysis above shows that the independent smallholder institutional engineering through regulation, organization, and resources are determined by the farmer household economic factors and the application of the value of local wisdom.

This study was performed to reveal phenotypic characters and identity of symbiont bacteria of Nasutitermes as well as investigate their potential as antagonist of plant pathogenic fungi. Isolation of the symbiont bacteria was carried out from inside the heads and the bodies of soldier and worker termite which were collected from 3 locations of nests. Identification was performed using phenotypic test and sequence of 16S ribosomal DNA (16S rDNA). Antagonistic capability was investigated in the laboratory against 3 phytopathogenic fungi i.e., Phytophthora capsici, Ganoderma boninense, and Rigidoporus microporus. Totally, 39 bacterial isolates were obtained from inside the heads and the bodies of Nasutitermes. All the isolates showed capability to inhibit growth of P. capsici, however, 34 isolates showed capability to inhibit growth of G. boninense and 32 isolates showed capability to inhibit growth of R. microporus. Two bacterial strains (IK3.1P and 1B1.2P) which showed the highest percentage of inhibition were further identified based on their sequence of 16S rDNA. The result showed that 1K3.1P strain was placed in the group of type strain and reference strains of Lysinibacillus fusiformis meanwhile 1B1.2P strain was grouped within type strain and reference strains Paenibacillus alvei. The result of this study supply valuable information on the role of symbiont bacteria of Nasutitermes, which may support the development of the control method of the three above-mentioned phytopathogenic fungi.
High Power Density Asymmetrical Full-Bridge Soft-Switching Inverter

This paper presents a Zero-Voltage-Switching (ZVS) technique eliminating the switching loss on a proposed single phase bi-directional full-bridge Buck inverter in which asymmetrical filter topology and control scheme are for each arm. Here Metal-Oxide-Field-Effect- Transistor(MOSFET) is chosen as the switching device, an L₁-C₁ filter is connected across the full-bridge, an L₂ filter is connected in series to load or grid. While the arm connecting with the C₁ is controlled by the polarity of 50Hz sinusoid reference command and the arm connecting with the L₁ is controlled by a Pulse-Width-Modulation(PWM) signal modulated by sinusoid, the L₁-C₁ then operates as an output filter of Buck, and the succeeding L₂ filter further attenuates ripple current flowing to load or grid. The ZVS technique sets the L₁ inductance such low that its current flows bi-directionally within a switching period, then the bidirectional current with sufficiently high peaks in turn charge and discharge the output capacitance Coss of MOSFETs of the switching arm within floating time, defined as the duration when both MOSFETs of an arm are off, to let the MOSFETs D-S channels be turned on or off at the state that Coss are fully discharged to zero voltage, so ZVS of MOSFET is achieved. Under the ZVS operation without frequency proportional switching loss, the switching frequency is possible to be raised to high to compact the sizes of passive components and heat sink of the inverter for achieving high power density. Simulation and experiment have been carried out to verify the ZVS operation.

This study deals with the generalization of the Elliptic Restricted Three-Body Problem (ER3BP) by considering the effects of radiation and oblate spheroid primaries. This may illustrate a gas giant exoplanet orbiting its host star with eccentric orbit. In the three dimensional case, this generalization may possess two additional equilibrium points ($L_{6,7}$, out-of-plane). We determine the existence of $L_{6,7}$ in ER3BP under the effects of radiation (bigger primary) and oblateness (small primary). We analytically derive the locations of $L_{6,7}$ and assume initial approximations of (${\mu}-1$, ${\pm}\sqrt{3A_2}$), where ${\mu}$ and $A_2$ are the mass parameter and oblateness factor, respectively. The fixed locations are then determined. Our results show that the locations of $L_{6,7}$ are periodic and affected by $A_2$ and the radiation factor ($q_1$).

This work considers the elliptic restricted three-body problem under effects of radiation of the bigger primary, and an oblate spheroid for the smaller primary to mimic an exoplanetary system with a gas giant planet. Under the influences of both effects we look for the existence of the triangular equilibrium points and the influences of the radiation and oblateness on the locations and motion of the points. We set the system in a normalized rotating coordinate system and derive equations of motion for the third infinitesimal object. Our study shows that the effects modify the equilateral/isosceles triangle shape with respect to the primaries. The triangular points also have non-planar motion with period depending on the value of the planet oblateness.

Small pelagic fish populations have long been exploited by various fishing gears in the Natuna Sea, and since the 1970s, purse seine exploitation has expanded to offshore fishing grounds. Various small pelagic fish species are exploited from these waters including spotted sardinella (Amblygaster sirm). This research was conducted for 22 months, from March 2019 to December 2020. The fish sample was taken from the purse seine fleet's catch in the fisheries management area (FMA) 711 Natuna Sea and Karimata Strait, which was brought to Pemangkat fishing port in the West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. This paper aims to determine the exploitation status of spotted sardinella in the Natuna Sea as a recommendation material for management policies. The methods used in this analysis are estimated age, cohort, population parameters, and spawning potential ratio of spotted sardinella. The results show three primary cohorts of spotted sardinella in the Natuna Sea, with ages ranging from 9 months to 3.1 years and a maximum attainable age (longevity) of 4.3 years. The asymptotic value (L<sub>∞</sub>) is 21.79 cmFL in length, with a growth rate (K) of 0.65 per year. The natural mortality rate (M) was 1.19, the total mortality rate (Z) was 2.19, and the fishing mortality rate (F) was 0.99. The exploitation rate (E) was 0.45 and the stock status was still in a sustainable condition. Therefore, the sardinella fisheries can be developed using a precautionary approach and focus on the ecosystem sustainability of FMA 711.
