      • Shewanella fodinae sp. nov., isolated from a coal mine and from a marine lagoon

        <P>Strains JC15<SUP>T</SUP> and JC19 were isolated from samples collected from different locations in India, including a coal mine and a marine lagoon. Both strains were Gram-stain-negative rods, motile by means of a single polar flagellum, catalase- and oxidase-positive, and hydrolysed casein, produced H2S and showed <I>β</I>-haemolysis. Strain JC15<SUP>T</SUP> grew optimally at pH 6 (range pH 5-8) while strain JC19 grew optimally at pH 7 (range pH 6-9) and both had a growth temperature optimum of 30-37 °C (range 22-40 °C). Both strains could grow chemo-organoheterotrophically and chemolithoautotrophically. Neither strain required NaCl for growth and both could tolerate up to 9 % (w/v) NaCl, with optimum growth at 5 % NaCl. Vitamin B12 was required as a growth factor by both strains. The major fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0, C17 : 1<I>ω</I>8<I>c</I> and iso-C13 : 0 3-OH. The DNA G<I>+</I>C contents of strains JC15<SUP>T</SUP> and JC19 were 53.6 and 54.3 mol%, respectively. A phylogenetic tree based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strains JC15<SUP>T</SUP> and JC19 were most closely related to <I>Shewanella haliotis</I> DW01<SUP>T</SUP> (approximately 94 % sequence similarity) and to other members of the genus <I>Shewanella.</I> Genomic relatedness (DNA-DNA hybridization) between strains JC15<SUP>T</SUP> and JC19 is 88 %. On the basis of phenotypic and molecular genetic evidence, strain JC15<SUP>T</SUP> represents a novel species of the genus <I>Shewanella</I>, for which the name <I>Shewanella fodinae</I> sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is JC15<SUP>T</SUP> (=CCUG 57102<SUP>T</SUP> =NBRC 105216<SUP>T</SUP> =KCTC 22506<SUP>T</SUP>).</P>

        Creep Properties of Intercritical Heat Treated Boron Added Modified 9Cr–1Mo Steel

        Creep properties of intercritically heat-treated (ICHT) boron free modified 9Cr–1Mo steel (P91-IC) and boron containingmodified 9Cr–1Mo (P91B-IC) steel have been studied at 923 K over a stress range of 50–120 MPa. Minimum creep rate ofthe P91B-IC steel was significantly lower than the P91-IC steel. Stress exponent and threshold stress values in P91-IC andP91B-IC steels were found to be 6.5 and 28 MPa, and 8.7 and 38 MPa respectively. P91B-IC steel has exhibited higher creeprupture life than the P91-IC steel. Higher creep rupture strength in the P91B-IC steel as compared to P91-IC steel has beenattributed to the presence of stable M23C6precipitates at the lath boundaries and other high angle boundaries. The creeprupture strengths of both the ICHT steels were lower than the respective base metal.

      • Image Based Mutual Authentication to Enhance the Web Security

        CAPTCHAs are an imperative and broadly used modern Internet technology to reduce the risk of reducing the computerized agents to programmatically use web connected resources such as online e-mail accounts, online polls, Web-based comment systems, Web-based SMS portals and so on. The designing of security algorithms utilizing captcha can be a useful security mechanism. There are several security attacks and survival of many phishing websites. In current systems, two factor authentications, One Time Password (OTP) are used to overcome these issues. In case of OTP, mobile technology is used to send the password to the client for confirmation, in some cases, mostly handheld mobiles may not be within the reach or there may be several other issues like network traffic and delay in receiving passwords. These problems decrease the capability of authentication. Here the proposed system is technology independent and behavior based authentication system, where system performs complete authentication through website using Image CAPTCHA. Behavior based authentication is done through appropriate selection and cropping of image at the accurate location. This proposed system ultimately enables us to substantiate whether the user is an authenticated user and website is an authenticated website The performance of the system has been analyzed using shoulder surfing, brute force, dictionary, random and reply attack to prove the web security.
