Background: An accurate diagnosis in patients with interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) by multidisciplinary discussion (MDD) based on histopathologic information is essential for optimal treatment. Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy (TBLC) has increasingly been used as a diagnostic alternative to surgical lung biopsy. This study aimed to evaluate the appropriate methods of TBLC in patients with ILD in Korea. Methods: A total of 27 patients who underwent TBLC were included. TBLC procedure details and clinical MDD diagnosis using TBLC histopathologic information were retrospectively analyzed. Results: All procedures were performed under general anesthesia with the fluoroscopic guidance in the operation room using flexible bronchoscopy and endobronchial balloon blocker. The median procedure duration was less than 30 minutes, and the median number of biopsies per participant was 2. Most of the bleeding after TBLC was not severe, and the rate of pneumothorax was 25.9%. The most common histopathologic pattern was alternative (48.2%), followed by indeterminate (33.3%) and usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP)/probable UIP (18.5%). In the MDD after TBLC, the most common diagnosis was idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (33.3%), followed by smoking-related ILD (25.9%), nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (18.6%), unclassifiable-ILD (14.8%), and others (7.4%).Conclusion: This first single-center experience showed that TBLC using a flexible bronchoscopy and endobronchial balloon blocker with the fluoroscopic guidance under general anesthesia may be a safe and adequate diagnostic method for ILD patients in Korea. The diagnostic yield of MDD was 85.2%. Further studies are needed to evaluate the diagnostic yield and confidence of TBLC.

This paper describes the effort for the development of an actual wind simulation method on the wind turbine performance evaluation. It should be emphasized that the deep knowledge on real wind field is a key factor for both the design of a wind turbine and the performance evaluation. With this reason, there had been several simulation attempts to accurately match with the actual wind data. With an existing wind generation algorithm is under consideration, this study introduces several more new concepts including Van der Hoven spectrum being implemented in different methodology. Also this paper will compare the result from the wind simulations by using the basic formula with that by using MATLAB and SIMULINK previously developed. In addition, like the existing wind generation algorithm, random process for actual wind field simulation and white noise are incorporated to closely produce the actual wind field models.

This study focus on the performance of blade with blunt airfoil which used at root region on Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD). Based on the Phase VI had experiment by NREL, the experiment condition is also used for the performance of blade with the airfoil that trailing edge is changed. The thickness of airfoil trailing edge 1% and 5% is substituted for original airfoil. This study was progressing to calculate the pressure coefficient and torque from the effect on each airfoil according to difference of the thickness.

<P><I>Cimicifuga dahurica</I> has traditionally been used as an antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory agent and as a treatment for uterine and anal prolapse. This study has investigated the potential beneficial effects of this medicinal plant and its components on Alzheimer’s disease (AD) with a focus on amyloid beta (Aβ) production and scopolamine-induced memory impairment in mice. An ethanol extract from <I>C. dahurica</I> roots decreased Aβ production in APP-CHO cells [Chinese hamster ovarian (CHO) cells stably expressing amyloid precursor protein (APP)], as determined by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Western blot analysis. Then, the compounds isolated from <I>C. dahurica</I> were tested for their antiamyloidogenic activities. Four compounds (<B>1</B>-<B>4</B>) efficiently interrupted Aβ generation by suppressing the level of β-secretase in APP-CHO cells. Moreover, the in vivo experimental results demonstrated that compound <B>4</B> improved the cognitive performances of mice with scopolamine-induced disruption on behavioral tests and the expression of memory-related proteins. Taken together, these results suggest that <I>C. dahurica</I> and its constituents are potential agents for preventing or alleviating the symptoms of AD.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

For performance test of oil cooler, we manufactured a test equipment which can heat oil up to the test temperature and supply it continuously to be tested object. This test equipment was composed of 300,000 Kcal/h steam boiler and 300,000 Kcal/h plate type heat exchanger, and this can do real time control the test conditions by the method which high temperature water heats the outlet cooled oil after test. For many different size oil coolers, by use of this equipment, we evaluated the heat exchange performance of oil coolers and pressure drop characteristics in side of oil and cooling water according to flow variation. Besides, we also estimated temperature characteristics of oil coolers.

In this paper, the purpose is a study on structural analysis for offshore wind turbine using commercial code. Because offshore wind turbine is subjected to great wind and wave force, it is necessary to analyse the dynamics and minimize the response of wind turbine. The offshore wind turbine tower is modelled as a single degree of freedom and multi degree of freedom structure. It is assumed that the blades, nacelle are composed of concentrated masses.

Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a disease that causes inflammation and stenosis of medium to large blood vessels. We report a case of a 50-year-old female patient with newly developed hypertension, syncope, and claudication of the extremities. Total occlusion of the left subclavian artery at the origin was found and significant stenosis of the right common iliac artery was revealed by hemodynamic analysis. She was successfully treated with percutaneous angioplasty for multiple peripheral arterial diseases and was finally diagnosed with TA. In consultation with a rheumatologist, medical treatment for TA was initiated, the patient’s hypertension disappeared, and her claudication symptoms improved.
