The aim of this study was to compare a new type of reconstruction method (Noh's operation) with Roux-en-Y operation after subtotal gastrectomy. Noh's operation described herein includes a jejunal occlusion, an end-to-side gastrojejunostomy, a side-to-end jejunoduodenostomy, and a side-to-side jejunojejunostomy after subtotal gastrectomy. A series of 43 patients who had the new operation were compared with 47 patients with the Roux-en-Y procedure. The postgastrectomy syndromes, and the raucosal change of the remnant stomach and esophagus were evaluated after surgery. In the new operation, the Roux stasis syndrome occurred in 34.9% at 3 months, in 23.3% at 6 months, in 14.0% at 12 months, and in 11.6% at 24 months. In patients undergoing the Roux-en-Y operation, the syndrome occurred in 42.6% at 3 months, in 34.0% at 6 months, in 31.9% at 12 months, and in 29.8% at 24 months. This study shows that the new type of operation (Noh's operation) can be a good option for reconstruction after subtotal gastrectomy.

Doubling the Capacity of Lithium Manganese Oxide Spinel by a Flexible Skinny Graphitic Layer

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>By coating nanoparticular lithium manganese oxide (LMO) spinel with a few layers of graphitic basal planes, the capacity of the material reached up to 220 mA h g<SUP>−1</SUP> at a cutoff voltage of 2.5 V. The graphitic layers 1) provided a facile electron‐transfer highway without hindering ion access and, more interestingly, 2) stabilized the structural distortion at the 3 V region reaction. The gain was won by a simple method in which microsized LMO was ball‐milled in the presence of graphite with high energy. Vibratory ball milling pulverized the LMO into the nanoscale, exfoliated graphite of less than 10 layers and combined them together with an extremely intimate contact. Ab initio calculations show that the intrinsically very low electrical conductivity of the tetragonal phase of the LMO is responsible for the poor electrochemical performance in the 3 V region and could be overcome by the graphitic skin strategy proposed.</P>

This paper review change of IT export-import structure between Korea and China by use of trade related index and focuses on analyzing comparative advantage based on time-series analysis statistics data by using analysis index of trade intensity index(TII), revealed comparative advantage index(RCA), trade specialization index(TSI). The purpose of this research understand both 2 country`s trade structure to strengthen Korea-China economic cooperations and examine trade drawback to analyze causes which affect trade and by its improvement direction, find out way of trade expansion. According to this effects, mutually, intra-economy`s potential complementation is immense and furthermore, expected profits from here is also sufficiently guaranteed compared to that of any area of regional economic integrated community. From our economic viewpoint, Northeast economic cooperations can provide opportunity for industry technological cooperations with partner Japan under the circumstance of accelerating competitions among industries day by day and secure stable resource supplier as well as enlargement of export market and diversification which is expected to bring significant positive effects.
Dielectric and Pyroelectric Properties of Dy-doped BSCT Thick Films by Screen-printing Method

(Ba0.57Sr0.33Ca0.10)TiO₃ (=BSCT) powders, prepared by the sol-gel method, were doped using MnCO₃ as the acceptor and Dy₂O₃ as the donor. This powder was mixed with an organic vehicle. BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing techniques on the alumina substrate. The structural and dielectric properties of BSCT thick films were investigated with variation of the Dy₂O₃ amount. As a result of the differential thermal analysis (DTA), the exothermic peak was observed at around 670℃ due to the formation of the polycrystalline perovskite phase. All the BSCT thick films showed the XRD patterns of a typical polycrystalline perovskite structure. The average grain size of BSCT thick films decreased with an increasing amount of Dy₂O₃. The relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the BSCT thick film doped Dy₂O₃ 0.1㏖% were 4637.4 and 1.6% at 1㎑, respectively.

Lichen nitidus (LN) is an uncommon chronic eruption of an unknown cause, and it is characterized by tiny, discrete, flesh-colored papules. The sites of predilection are the genitalia, trunk and extremities. Unilateral palmar involvement with pruritus is infrequent. We report here on a case of LN confined to the right palm, and the patient presented with multiple, pruritic, erythematous to flesh-colored, tiny papules and vesicles that mimicked pompholyx. The histopathological examination of a skin biopsy specimen showed the typical findings of LN. (Ann Dermatol 22(2) 235~237, 2010)

Olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus is one of the most widely cultured fish species in Korea. Although olive flounder receive attention from aquaculture and fisheries and extensive research has been conducted eye morphological change in metamorphosis, but little information was known to molecular mechanism and gene expression of eye development- related genes during the early part of eye formation period. For the reason of eyesight is the most important sense in flounder larvae to search prey, the screening and identification of expressed genes in the eye will provide useful insight into the molecular regulation mechanism of eye development in olive flounder. Through the search of an olive flounder DNA database of expressed sequence tags (EST), we found a partial sequence that was similar to crystallin beta A1 and gamma S. Microscopic observation of retinal formation correspond with the time of expression of the crystallin beta A1 and gamma S gene in the developmental stage, these result suggesting that beta A1 and gamma S play a vital role in the remodeling of the retina during eye development. The expression of crystallin beta A1 and gamma S were obviously strong in eye at all tested developing stage, it is also hypothesized that crystallin acts as a molecular chaperone to prevent protein aggregation during maturation and aging in the eye.

<P>On the search for anti-inflammatory compounds from natural Korean medicinal sources, a bioassay-guided fractionation and chemical investigation of the MeOH extract from the fruiting bodies of <I>Hericium erinaceum</I> resulted in the isolation and identification of five benzyl alcohol derivatives (<B>1-5</B>). In this study, their anti-inflammatory effects on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced production of pro-inflammatory mediators were examined using RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. The structures of isolates were identified by comparing their spectroscopic data with previously reported values. The analysis of their inhibitory activities on LPS-induced nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E<SUB>2</SUB> (PGE<SUB>2</SUB>) production in RAW 264.7 macrophage cells showed that erinacerin B (<B>2</B>) and hericenone E (<B>4</B>) decreased the levels of NO and PGE<SUB>2</SUB> production in a concentration-dependent manner. Next, this study was performed to examine their mechanism of action on the regulation of NO and PGE<SUB>2</SUB> production. Compounds <B>2</B> and <B>4</B> were found to block the LPS-induced phosphorylation of two major inflammatory transcription factors, NF-κB (p65/p50) and AP-1 (c-Jun and c-Fos). Taken together, these results suggest that down-regulation of LPS-induced NO and PGE<SUB>2</SUB> production by compounds <B>2</B> and <B>4</B> is mediated through the modulation of NF-κB and AP-1 activation in macrophage cells. These results impact the development of potential health products for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases.</P>

<P>The Aurora kinase family of serine/threonine kinases are known to be crucial for cell cycle control. Aurora kinases are considered a target of anticancer drugs. However, few studies have assessed the effect of Aurora kinases in breast cancer. In the present study, to determine whether Aurora kinases play a role in oncogenic actions of protein kinase C (PKC), we investigated the effect of Aurora kinases on PKC-induced invasion and MMP-9 expression using breast cancer cells. Treatment of MCF-7 cells with 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) induced the upregulation and phosphorylation of Aurora kinases via the MAPK signaling pathway. Moreover, the inhibition of Aurora kinases by their siRNAs and inhibitors suppressed TPA-induced cell invasion and expression of MMP-9 by inhibiting the activation of NF-κB/AP-1, major transcription factors for MMP-9 expression in MCF-7 cells. These results suggested that Aurora kinases mediate PKC-MAPK signal to NF-κB/AP-1 with increasing MMP-9 expression and invasion of MCF-7 cells. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to show that Aurora kinases are key molecules in PKC-induced invasion in breast cancer cells.</P>
