Dielectric Properties of Barium Strontium Calcium Titanate Ceramics for a Microwave Phase Shifter
Sung-GapLee,Sung-SooLim,Young-HieLee 한국물리학회 2002 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.41 No.2
(Ba$_{0.6-x}$Sr$_{0.4}$Ca$_x$)TiO$_3$ (BSCT, $x$=0.10, 0.15, 0.20) specimens were fabricated by using the conventional mixed oxide method. The results of X-ray diffraction and microstructure analysis showed that all the BSCT specimens had a dense, homogeneous structure. The BSCT(50/40/10) specimen sintered at 1500 $^\circ$C showed the highest average grain size (18.25 $\mu$m). The Curie temperature and the relative dielectric constant at room temperature decreased with increasing Ca content. The Curie temperature of the BSCT(50/40/10) specimen showed a maximum value of -10 $^\circ$C. The relative dielectric constant and the dielectric loss of the BSCT(50/40/10) specimen, which was sintered at 1450 $^\circ$C and measured at 1 kHz, were about 4324 and 0.972 \%, respectively. The tunability increased with increasing Ca content, and the BSCT(50/40/10) specimen sintered at 1450 $^\circ$C showed a good value of 5.4 \% at 4 kV/cm.
Dielectric Properties of (Ba,Sr,Ca)TiO3 Ceramics Modified with MgO for Phased Array Applications
Sung-GapLee 한국물리학회 2002 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.41 No.1
(Ba$_{0.6-x}$Sr$_{0.4}$Ca$_x$)TiO$_3$ (BSCT)+y wt\% MgO ($x$ = 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, $y$ = 0.0$\sim$3.0) ceramics were fabricated by using the conventional solid-state reaction, and their structural and dielectric properties were investigated for various composition ratios and MgO doping contents. A second phase, representative of MgO, appeared in 3 wt\% MgO-doped BSCT specimens. The average grain sizes decreased with increasing amounts of MgO, and the BSCT(40/40/20) specimens doped with 3 wt\% MgO showed a value of 9.3 $\mu$m. The Curie temperature and the relative dielectric constant also decreased with increasing MgO doping content, and the relative dielectric constant decreased nonlinearly as the field strength increased. The tunability increased with decreasing Ca content, and the BSCT(50/40/10) specimen doped with 1.0 wt\% MgO showed the highest value of 6.4\% at 5 kV/cm.
Dielectric ProPerties of Zr-doped(Ba,Sr,Ca)TiO3 Thick Films for Microwave Phase Shifters
Sung-GapLee,Sang-HeonLee 한국전기전자재료학회 2003 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.4 No.2
(Ba,Sr,Ca)TiO3 powders, prepared by the sol-gel method, were mixed with organic binder and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen printing techniques on alumina substrates. All the BSCT thick films, sintered at 1420oC, showed the typical XRD patterns of a perovskite polycrystalline structure. The average grain sizes decreased with increasing amounts of ZrO2, and the BSCT(40/40/20) thick films doped with 2wt% MnO2 showed a value of 8mm. The thickness of thick films by four-cycle on printing/drying was approximately 95mm. The relative dielectric constant decreased with increasing Ca content and MnO2 doping amount. The relative dielectric constant, dielectric loss and tunability of the BSCT(50/40/10) thick films doped with 2.0wt% ZrO2 were 772, 0.184% and 15.62%, respectively.
