Patterning of Periodic Ripples in Monolayer MoS2 by Using Laser Irradiation

We have investigated the effect of laser irradiation on monolayer MoS2 and observed the swellingup of the monolayer from the SiO2 substrate upon laser illumination. The mismatch in the thermal expansion between the substrate and MoS2 can result in the structural deformation. Employing this method, one can induce structural deformation in a desired pattern, and one can demonstrate the patterning of periodic ripples in monolayer MoS2 by using laser irradiation. The controlled fabrication of the ripple structure may be instrumental in understanding the effect of ripples on the interesting physical properties of monolayer MoS2.

We have investigated the current distribution between individual layers of multilayer MoS2 in a field-effect transistor structure with source and drain electrodes on the top layer. By employing a laser thinning technique, we partially etched down the multilayer in the middle of the device and monitored the electrical current after each etching step. The current was decreased by several orders of magnitude when the upper layers were partially etched away. Our observation suggests that the electrical current of multilayer MoS2 flows mainly through the upper layers close to the source/drain contacts due to relatively large interlayer resistance of MoS2.

Echinostoma cinetorchis is an oriental intestinal fluke causing significant pathological damage to the small intestine. The aim of this study was to determine a full-length cDNA sequence of E. cinetorchis endoribonuclease (RNase H; EcRNH) and to elucidate its molecular biological characters. EcRNH consisted of 308 amino acids and showed low similarity to endoribonucleases of other parasites (<40%). EcRNH had an active site centered on a putative DDEED motif instead of DEDD conserved in other species. A recombinant EcRNH produced as a soluble form in Escherichia coli showed enzymatic activity to cleave the 3-O-P bond of RNA in a DNA-RNA duplex, producing 3-hydroxyl and 5-phosphate. These findings may contribute to develop antisense oligonucleotides which could damage echinostomes and other flukes.

현재 버스에 기반한 다중 프로세서 시스템이 주류를 이루고 있지만, 앞으로 작업 부하가 늘어남에 따라서 더 많은 수의 프로세서들이 부착되어야 한다. 그러나 버스는 전기적 한계 때문에 부착할 수 있는 프로세서의 수가 제한되어 있다. 최근에는 버스 구조를 대체할 확장이 가능한 지점간 링크(point-to -point link)를 이용한 링 구조의 시스템이 제안되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 디렉토리 모듈을 부착하고 지점간 링크를 이용한 새로운 링 구조의 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템에서는 디렉토리 모듈을 여러 개의 물리적인 디렉토리로 나누어 사용해서 디렉토리가 병목현상을 일으키는 것을 막을 수 있다. 디렉토리 모듈이 요구된 데이타를 제공할 클러스터에 바로 데아타를 요구하므로, 패킷이 지나가는 지점간 링크의 개수를 줄일 수 있어서 원격 메모리 접근에 대한 소요시간을 줄일 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 시스템의 성능을 평가하기 위해서, 프로그램에 기반한 시뮬레이터를 이용하였으며, 제안된 시스템은 버스에 기반한 시스템과 SCI 프로토콜을 이용한 링에 기반한 시스템에 비해서 개선된 성능을 보인다. Today, the bus-based multiprocessor system is popular. As the computational workload increases, more processors must be attached to the bus. The bus has the limit on the number of the processors that can be attached because of the electric problems. Recently the ring-based multiprocessor system using point-to-point link is proposed to replace the bus-based multiprocessor system In this paper, we propose a ring-based multiprocessor system with a central directory module to better the performance. The central directory module is separated into several physical directories to prevent the bottleneck. The directory module reduces the latency of access to the remote memory by reducing the number of point-to-point links the packet traverses because a central directory module directly requests data We use the program-driven simulator to evaluate the performance. The simulation results show that the proposed system outperforms the bus-based system and the ring-based system using SCI protocol.

<P>Severe Clonorchis sinensis infection is a significant risk factor for malignant changes in bile ducts and surrounding liver tissues occurring as a result of direct contact with C. sinensis worms and their excretory–secretory products (ESP). However, the intrinsic molecular mechanisms involved in these processes remain obscure. To determine the effects of C. sinensis infection on protein expression in host bile duct epithelium, we examined proteomic profile changes in the human cholangiocarcinoma cell line (HuCCT1) treated with ESP at 24 h. Using a combination of 2-DE, quantitative image and MALDI-TOF MS analysis, we identified 83 proteins that were translationally modulated in response to ESP, among which 49 were up-regulated and 34 down-regulated. These proteins were classified under various biological categories, including metabolism, cell structure and architecture, proteolysis, protein modification, transport, signal transduction, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) detoxification. In particular, ESP induced the expression of redox-regulating proteins, including peroxiredoxins (Prdx 2, 3, and 6) and thioredoxin 1 (Trx 1), possibly via intracellular ROS generation. Application of the proteomic approach to identify ESP response proteins should be a prerequisite before further investigation to clarify the molecular pathways and mechanisms involved in C. sinensis infection of host cells. Using a single-line pulsed laser beam is well known as a useful noncontact method to generate a directional surface acoustic wave. In this method, different laser beam energy profiles produce different waveforms and frequency characteristics. In this paper, we considered two typical kinds of laser beam energy profiles, Gaussian and square-like, to find out a difference in the frequency characteristics. To achieve this, mathematical models were proposed first for Gaussian laser beam profile and square-like respectively, both of which depended on the laser beam width. To verify the theoretical models, experimental setups with a cylindrical lens and a line-slit mask were respectively designed to produce a line laser beam with Gaussian spatial energy profile and square-like. The frequency responses of the theoretical models showed good agreement with experimental results in terms of the existence of harmonic frequency components and the shift of the first peak frequencies to low.
새로운 스누핑 프로토콜을 사용한 링 구조의 다중 프로세서 시스템

현재 컴퓨터 시장에서는 버스에 기반한 시스템이 주류를 이루고 있다. 프로세서의 속도가 매우 빠른 속도로 증가하고 있기 때문에 버스는 병목현상을 일으키고, 버스의 속도는 불완전한 전송선의 한계로 인해서 제한된다. 시스템 연구자들은 버스를 고속의 단방향 지점간 링크(point-to-point link)를 사용해서 대체하려고 하고 있다. 이 논문에서 새로운 링 구조의 시스템(PANDA)을 제안하고 이 시스템에 적합한 스누핑 캐쉬 일관성 프로토콜을 제시한다. 또한 제안된 시스템은 SCI 캐쉬 일관성 프로토콜을 채택하는 시스템의 네트워크 인터페이스를 수정함으로써 쉽게 구현될 수 있는 이점을 지닌다. 확률적 모델링과 program-driven simulator를 이용하여서 제안된 시스템과 full map 디렉토리 프로토콜을 사용하는 시스템과 스누핑 프로토콜을 사용하는 슬롯 링 시스템(Express Ring)을 분석하였다. 실험의 결과로 제안된 시스템은 부가적 하드웨어가 필요한 full map 디렉토리 시스템에 비해서 대등한 성능을 지니고, 슬롯링 시스템에 비해서는 29%까지의 성능향상을 보인다. In current commercial market, the bus-based multiprocessor system is popular. As processor speeds improve at a very fast rate, buses are becoming a bottleneck and their signaling speed is limited by the imperfect transmission lines. System architects are trying to replace buses with high-speed unidirectional point-to-point links. In this paper, we introduce a new ring-based system architecture and present new snooping cache coherence protocol for the system. The proposed system is easily implemented by modifying network interface of the system using SCI cache coherence protocol. We analyze the proposed system by analytical models and program-driven simulations and we compare it to the system using the full map directory protocol and slotted ring-based system(Express Ring) using snooping protocol. From the experiment result, the proposed system has equivalent performance compared with the full map directory protocol and has up to 29% performance improvement against the slotted ring based system.

제철공장에서 발생하는 열악한 환경의 가스를 계측하기 위해서 개발한 초음파 유량계와 현장적용 결과에 대해서 기술한다. 개발된 초음파 유량계는 제철공정에 생산되는 부생가스인 LDG,COG, BFG 등의 활용에 적합하도록 개발했다. 그리고 본 초음파 유량계는 초음파 전달시간차 방식을 채택하고 있다. 전갈 시간차 방식의 초음파 유량계를 구현하기 위한 초음파 신호의 송수신 알고리즘 및 초음파 신호처리 알고리즘을 개발했다. 유량계의 성능을 검증하기 위해서 대용량 유량 검·교정 장치를 자체 제작하여 유량계 검·교정 실험을 행했고 Venturi Type의 기준유량계와 비교실험을 통해서 측정오차를 평가했다. 실제 제철공정에 1년 이상의 적용 테스터를 통해 초음파 유량계의 신뢰성을 확인했으며 현재 상업화 모델이 개발되어 현장에서 활용 중에 있다. This paper describes the development and the field application of the ultrasonic gas flowmeter for accurate measurement of the volumetric flow rate of gases in a harsh environmental conditions in iron & steel making company. This ultrasonic flowmeter is especially suited for measuring LDG,COG, BFG gases produced in iron & steel making process. This is a transit time type ultrasonic flowmeter. We have developed the transmitting & receiving algorithm of ultrasonic wave and the ultrasonic signal processing algorithm to develope a transit time type ultrasonic flowmeter. We have evaluated the performance of ultrasonic flowmeter by the calibration system with Venturi type standard flowmeter. We has confirmed its reliability by extensive field tests for s year in POSCO, iron & steel making company. Now we have developed the commercial model of ultrasonic flowmeter and applied to the POSCO gas line.
