The use of recycled aggregate concrete is increasing faster than the development of appropriate design recommendations. Also noises and shocks caused remodeling and reinforcement work do harm to residents. This paper reports limited experimental data on the structural performance of shear wall used concrete blocks made in recycled aggregates. Reinforced concrete frame and shear wall were tested to determine their diagonal cracking and ultimate shear behavior. The variable in the test program was the existence of infilled wall used concrete blocks Made in recycled aggregates. Based on the experimental results, Infilled wall has a high influence on the maximum strength and initial stiffness of reinforced concrete frame. Structural performance of specimen WSB is quite different from RCF specimen, particularly strength, stiffness and energy dissipation capacity.

These days, an attention of environment has been increasing all over the world. to prevent the green house effect and destruction of an ozone layer, an ozone destruction potential(ODP) be zero and a refrigerant for low global warming potential(GWP) is needed. HFC-134a, in which hydrogen is mixed instead of chlorine is a refrigerant used for automobile conditioners and its destruction potential is ecologically zero. However, it is not considered as a perfect substitutive refrigerant as its GWP is high. It is studied refrigerant mixtures in which HFC-134a, HFC-152a and CF_3I with low GWP and zero ODP are mixed by experimentally and concluded as follows; 1. with the variation of speed of compressor outside temperature and flow rate, the heat of evaporator and compressor and coefficient of performance was varied, and influenced the air conditioner. 2. The pressure of evaporator was decreased with increasing the speed of compressor and that of the refrigerant HFC-134a was higher 21% than that of azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I. The overall capacity of condensor and evaporator was increased and HGC-134a was higher than azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I 3. The capacity of evaporator with the refrigerant HFC-134a was higher 6% than azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF31 and the required power with zaotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I was higher 11% than that of HFC-134a. 4. The COP of the refrigerant FHC-134a was higher 31% in 1000RPM. when outside temperature was increased, COP was decreased. 5. Performance of HFC-134a is better than azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I but prefered zaotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I considering the environment.

The "Sound Classification System on Floor Impact Sound Insulation Performance" is being studied in Korea. For that study, vocabularies appropriate for evaluation and reporting are needed. In this study, adequate words for evaluating floor impact sound have been extracted by reviewing the existing vocabularies and augmenting this with the results of a questionnaire prepared especially for apartment dwellers. As a result of this study, followings are suggested. 1) The heavy impact sound sources are more highly ranked than light impact ones. And the louder sound sources are the more accumulated points. 2) Highly ranked vocabularies are different for each source. 3) Floor impact sound evaluating words such as ‘Annoying’, ‘Disagreeable’, ‘Strident’, ‘Disturbed’, and ‘Dissonant’ are highly ranked. ‘Annoying’ is the word most accurately expressing the subjects' unpleasant feeling of domestic floor impact noise. 4)‘Unpleasant’, ‘Noisy’, ‘Irritating’, ‘Annoying’ are main unpleasant factors to floor impact sounds occurring in our domestic apartment houses.

<P>Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum causes soft rot disease in various plants, including Chinese cabbage. The simple extracellular leucine-rich repeat (eLRR) domain proteins have been implicated in disease resistance. Rice leucine-rich repeat protein (OsLRP), a rice simple eLRR domain protein, is induced by pathogens, phytohormones, and salt. To see whether OsLRP enhances disease resistance to bacterial soft rot, OsLRP was introduced into Chinese cabbage by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Two independent transgenic lines over-expressing OsLRP were generated and further analyzed. Transgenic lines over-expressing OsLRP showed enhanced disease resistance to bacterial soft rot compared to non-transgenic control. Bacterial growth was retarded in transgenic lines over-expressing OsLRP compared to non-transgenic controls. We propose that OsLRP confers enhanced resistance to bacterial soft rot. Monitoring expression of defense-associated genes in transgenic lines over-expressing OsLRP, two different glucanases and Brassica rapa polygalacturonase inhibiting protein 2, PDF1 were constitutively activated in transgenic lines compared to non-transgenic control. Taken together, heterologous expression of OsLRP results in the activation of defense response and enhanced resistance to bacterial soft rot.</P>

<P><B>Summary</B></P><P><P>This study reports that <I>Arabidopsis thaliana</I> protein serine/threonine phosphatase 5 (AtPP5) plays a pivotal role in heat stress resistance. A high‐molecular‐weight (HMW) form of AtPP5 was isolated from heat‐treated <I>A. thaliana</I> suspension cells. AtPP5 performs multiple functions, acting as a protein phosphatase, foldase chaperone, and holdase chaperone. The enzymatic activities of this versatile protein are closely associated with its oligomeric status, ranging from low oligomeric protein species to HMW complexes.</P><P>The phosphatase and foldase chaperone functions of AtPP5 are associated primarily with the low‐molecular‐weight (LMW) form, whereas the HMW form exhibits holdase chaperone activity. Transgenic over‐expression of <I>AtPP5</I> conferred enhanced heat shock resistance to wild‐type <I>A. thaliana</I> and a T‐DNA insertion knock‐out mutant was defective in acquired thermotolerance. A recombinant phosphatase mutant (H290N) showed markedly increased holdase chaperone activity.</P><P>In addition, enhanced thermotolerance was observed in transgenic plants over‐expressing H290N, which suggests that the holdase chaperone activity of AtPP5 is primarily responsible for AtPP5‐mediated thermotolerance.</P><P>Collectively, the results from this study provide the first evidence that AtPP5 performs multiple enzymatic activities that are mediated by conformational changes induced by heat‐shock stress.</P></P>
