Excellent anti-fouling performance of PVDF polymeric membrane modified by enhanced CaA gel-layer

Sun-Jie Xu,Gui-E Chena,Zhen-Liang Xu 한국공업화학회 2018 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.58 No.-

Calcium alginate gel-layer polymeric membranes with excellent anti-fouling ability were developed viadip-coating method through sodium alginate and calcium chloride to form gel-layers onto differentpolyvinylidenefluoride membranes. SEM, FT-IR, DCA and mechanical properties were operated forcharacterization. Comprehensive investigation of anti-fouling ability including PWF, FRR%, long-termperformances with fouling resistances were conducted. Results showed a significant improvement aftercross-linking, in which recovery rate reached to 99.2% and kept steady while contact angle decreasedremarkably. Enhanced gel-layer with MWCNTs-COOH was also developed and applied in the commercialPVDF MF membrane and applied in fresh milk emulsion concentration.

Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Heterocyclic Ring-substituted Chalcone Derivatives as Novel Inhibitors of Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 1B

        Zhen-Hua Chen,Liang-Peng Sun,Wei Zhang,Qiang Shen,Li-Xin Gao,Jia Li,Hu-Ri Piao 대한화학회 2012 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.33 No.5

Protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) is a key factor in negative regulation of the insulin pathway, and is a promising target for the treatment of type-II diabetes, obesity and cancer. Herein, compound (4) was first observed to have moderate inhibitory activity against PTP1B with an IC50 value of 13.72 ± 1.53 μM. To obtain more potent PTP1B inhibitors, we synthesized a series of chalcone derivatives using compound (4) as the lead compound. Compound 4l (IC50 = 3.12 ± 0.18 μM) was 4.4-fold more potent than the lead compound 4 (IC50 = 13.72 ± 1.53 μM), and more potent than the positive control, ursolic acid (IC50 = 3.40 ± 0.21 μM). These results may help to provide suitable drug-like lead compounds for the design of inhibitors of PTP1B as well as other PTPs.

      • Association Between GSTM1 Polymorphism and Nasopharyngeal Cancer Susceptibility: a Meta-analysis

Sun, Zhen-Feng,Zhang, Jia,Xu, Hong-Ming,Wang, Guo-Liang,Dong, Pin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.11

Background/Aims: Glutathione S-transferase M1 (GSTM1) is a multifunctional enzyme that plays a critical role in the detoxification of varieties of carcinogenic metabolites. Many studies have been conducted to investigate the association between GSTM1 polymorphism and nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) risk, but the findings among those studies are inconsistent. To assess this relationship more precisely, we performed a meta-analysis of all available studies on the subject. Methods: Case-control studies were identified by searching Pubmed, Embase, ISI Web of Science, and Wanfang databases through September 6, 2012. We used the pooled odds ratio (OR) with its corresponding 95% confidence interval (95%CI) to evaluate the association of GSTM1 polymorphism with NPC susceptibility. Subgroup analyses by pathological types, sex and smoking status were performed to further identify the association. Results: Overall, 11 published studies with 1,513 cases and 2,802 controls were finally included into this meta-analysis according to the inclusion criteria. Meta-analysis of total studies showed that the null genotype of GSTM1 was significantly associated with increased risk of NPC, when comparing with the non-null genotype (OR=1.51, 95%CI=1.33-1.72, POR<0.001). The association was still statistically significant in subgroup analysis of patients with nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OR=1.73, 95%CI=1.24-2.42, POR=0.001). Males with the null genotype of GSTM1 were more likely to subject to NPC than females. In addition, the association between the null genotype of GSTM1 and NPC risk was strongest in individuals with exposure to smoking. Sensitivity analysis by sequential omission of any individual studies one at a time further demonstrated the significant association. Conclusions: The findings suggest that the null genotype of GSTM1 is a risk factor for NPC, and there is a gene-smoking interaction in this association.

Preparation and characterization of poly(dimethylsiloxane)-polytetrafluoroethylene (PDMS-PTFE) composite membrane for pervaporation of chloroform from aqueous solution

        Zhen-Liang Xu,De Sun,Bing-Bing Li 한국화학공학회 2013 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.30 No.11

Hydrophobic polydimethylsiloxane - polytetrafluoroethylene (PDMS-PTFE) flat-sheet membranes for pervaporation (PV) of chloroform from aqueous solution were successfully fabricated by solution casting method. The structures and the performance of the membranes was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope combined with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDXS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and the tests of contact angle and mechanical properties. The adding of PTFE particles (<4 μm) in the PDMS matrix enhanced the crystallinity, hydrophobicity, mechanical strength and thermal stability of the membranes. The examinations showed that the PTFE filled PDMS membranes exhibited striking advantages in flux and separation factor as compared with unfilled PDMS membranes. All the filled PDMS membranes with different PTFE content showed excellent PV properties for the separation of chloroform from water. When the content of the PTFE additive in PDMS composite membrane was 30 wt%, membrane performance was the best at feed temperature 50 oC and permeate-side vacuum 0.101MPa. For the 30% PTFE-PDMS membrane, with the increase of the feed temperature from 30 to 60 oC, the total, water and chloroform fluxes as well as the separation factor increased, the apparent activation energy (ΔEa) of total, chloroform and water were 21.08, 66.65 and 11.49 KJ/mol, respectively, with an increase of chloroform concentration in the feed from 50 to 950 ppm, total, water and chloroform fluxes increased but the separation factor decreased.

Design and simulation of 500 MHz single cell superconducting RF cavity for SILF

        Sun Yanbing,Ma Wei,Yuan Nan,Ge Yulin,Yang Zhen,Zou Liping,Lu Liang 한국원자력학회 2024 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.56 No.1

Shenzhen Innovation Light source Facility (SILF) is a 3.0 GeV fourth generation diffraction limited synchrotron light source currently under construction in Shenzhen. The SILF storage ring is proposed to use two 500 MHz single cell superconducting radio frequency (SRF) cavities to provide 2.4 MV RF voltage. In this study, we examined the geometric structure of mature CESR superconducting cavities and adopted a beam-pipe-type extraction scheme for high-order modes (HOM). One of the objectives of SRF cavity design and optimization in this study is to reduce Ep/Eacc and Bp/Eacc as much as possible to reduce power loss and ensure stable operation of the cavity. To reduce the risk of beam instability and thermal breakdown, the HOM and Multipacting (MP) are simulated. Moreover, the mechanical properties of the cavity are analyzed, including frequency sensitivity from pressure of liquid helium (LHe), stress, tuning, Lorentz force detuning (LFD), the microphone effect, and buckling. By comprehensive design and optimization of 500 MHz single-cell SRF cavities, a superconducting cavity for SILF storage ring was developed. This paper will detailed present the design and simulation.

      • Significance of HPV Infection and Genic Mutation of APC and K-ras in Patients with Rectal Cancer

Sun, Zhen-Qiang,Wang, Hai-Jiang,Zhao, Ze-Liang,Wang, Qi-San,Fan, Chuan-Wen,Kureshi, Kureshi,Fang, Fa Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.1

Background: Significance of HPV infection and genic mutation of APC and K-ras in rectal cancer has been investigated but not clarified. The objective of our study was to investigate these parameters in patients with rectal cancer to analyze correlations with biological behaviour, to determine relationships among the three, and also to demonstrate survival prognosis effects. Methods: From December 2007 to September 2008, 75 rectal cancer cases confirmed by histopathology in the Tumor Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University were enrolled. The control group consisted of normal rectal mucous membrane taken simultaneously, a least 10 cm distant from the carcinoma fringe. HPV DNA, the MCR of APC and exon-1 of K-ras were detected by PCR and PCR-SSCP. All results were analyzed in relation to clinical pathological material, using chi-square and correlation analysis via SPSS.13 and Fisher's Exact Probability via STATA. 9.0. All 75 patients were followed up for survival analysis using Kaplan-Meier and Log-rank tests. Results: 55 out of 75 cases demonstrated gene HPV L1 while it was notdetected in normal rectal mucosa tissue. HPV infection was correlated with age and lymphatic metastasis (P<0.05) but not other characteristics, such as ethnicity, tumor size, histological type, tumor type, Duke's stage and infiltration depth. Some 43 cases exhibited APC genic mutation (57.3%) and 34 K-ras genic mutation (45.3%). APC genic mutation was correlated with gender(P<0.05), but not age, histological type, infiltration depth, lymphatic metastasis and Duke's stage. In 55 cases of rectal cancer with HPV infection, there were 31 cases with genic mutation of APC (56.4%) and 24 with genic mutation of K-ras (43.6%). For the 20 cases of rectal cancer with non-HPV infection, the figures were 12 cases (60%) and 10 (50.0%), respectively, with no significant relation. Survival analysis showed no statistical significance for K-ras genic mutation, APC genic mutation or HPV infection (P>0.05). However, the survival time of the patients with HPV infection was a little shorter than in cases without HPV infection. Conclusions: Our results suggest that HPV infection might be an important factor to bring about malignant phenotype of rectal cancer and influence prognosis. Genic mutation of APC and K-ras might be common early molecular events of rectal cancer, but without prognostic effects on medium-term or early stage patients with rectal cancer.

CT-Guided Microcoil Localization of Small Peripheral Pulmonary Nodules to Direct Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Resection without the Aid of Intraoperative Fluoroscopy

        Huang Zhen-guo,Wang Cun-li,Sun Hong-liang,Li Chuan-dong,Gao Bao-xiang,Chen He,Yang Min-xing 대한영상의학회 2021 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.22 No.7

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of CT-guided microcoil localization of solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs) for guiding video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). Materials and Methods: Between June 2016 and October 2019, 454 consecutive patients with 501 SPNs who received CTguided microcoil localization before VATS in our institution were enrolled. The diameter of the nodules was 0.93 ± 0.49 cm, and the shortest distance from the nodules to the pleura was 1.41 ± 0.95 cm. The distal end of the microcoil was placed less than 1 cm away from the nodule, and the proximal end was placed outside the visceral pleura. VATS was performed under the guidance of implanted microcoils without the aid of intraoperative fluoroscopy. Results: All 501 nodules were marked with microcoils. The time required for microcoil localization was 12.8 ± 5.2 minutes. Microcoil localization-related complications occurred in 179 cases (39.4%). None of the complications required treatment. A total of 463 nodules were successfully resected under the guidance of implanted microcoils. VATS revealed 38 patients with dislocated microcoils, of which 28 underwent wedge resection (21 cases under the guidance of the bleeding points of pleural puncture, 7 cases through palpation), 5 underwent direct lobectomy, and the remaining 5 underwent a conversion to thoracotomy. In 4 cases, a portion of the microcoil remained in the lung parenchyma. Conclusion: CT-guided microcoil localization of SPNs is safe and reliable. Marking the nodule and pleura simultaneously with microcoils can effectively guide the resection of SPNs using VATS without the aid of intraoperative fluoroscopy.
