This research article constitutes an effi cient way to extract the minimum fuel cost for the economic dispatch problem considering multiple fuel options along with valve point eff ects. In general one convex cost function for one generator is assumed. The piecewise quadratic cost function is represented by selecting the convex cost function more than one for a generator. A new approach referred as Power Search Algorithm (PSA) based on reverse search strategy is suggested along with various constraints in ED. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated on a ten unit multi-fuel system for various power demands with diff erent fuel input options. The outcomes acquired from the simulation are of good quality and furthermore it reveals that the proposed algorithm performs superior than the various algorithms discussed.

Sb2S3 thin films prepared by electrodeposition on indium tin oxide coated glass substrate were irradiated with 150 MeV Ni11+ ions for various fluence in the range of 1011–1013 ions/㎠. The modifications in the structure, surface morphology and optical properties have been studied as a function of ion fluence. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis indicates a shift in the (2 4 0) peak position towards lower diffraction angle and a decrease in grain size with increase in ion fluence. Presence of microcracks due to irradiation induced grain splitting effect has been observed from the SEM micrograph at higher ion fluence. The optical absorbance spectrum revealed a shift in the fundamental absorption edge and the band gap energy increased from a value of 1.63 eV for as-deposited films to 1.80 eV for the films irradiated with 1013 ions/㎠.
A Developed H-Bridge Cascaded Multilevel Inverter with Reduced Switch Count

Multilevel Inverter integrates several Direct Current (DC) sources to produce a single-phase Alternating Current (AC) waveform that can be used to meet the domestic and commercial power demand. This article introduces a novel Multi Source Cascaded Multilevel Inverter with a reduced number of switches for the effi cient use of DC voltage sources. The conversion effi ciency can be increased by the presented topology which is simple in design to overcome the signifi cant switching losses in the power electronics devices. Optimal Firing Angle and Phase Opposition Disposition Pulse width Modulation Techniques were used to reduce the harmonics at the desired output of the inverter and also to improve the power quality of the presented topology. This article also proposes two Asymmetric Multilevel Inverter Topologies. A comparison has been made, on the number of switches required and the effi ciency of the inverters to diff erentiate the presented Topologies from other topologies of the multilevel inverter. Finally, the performance characteristics of the presented topologies have been designed and investigated using MATLAB Simulation. Simulation results were validated using an experimental setup.
Performance and evaluation of MoS2 based machining using PVD-TiAlN coated tool
Viswanathan Sivaraman,Subramanian Prakash 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.9
A recent trend on turning of difficult-to-machine (DTM) materials using environmentally friendly vegetable oil has became popular due to its immense machinability aids. Conventional cutting oils fail to give cooling/lubrication at higher cutting speed-feed combination and create environmental pollution. The present work investigated the effect of molybdenum disulphide nanoparticle (nMoS 2 ) dispersed in castor oil, as a cutting fluid, sprayed using minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) technique on turning of AISI O1 cold worked tool steel. The machining was carried out by varying the speed ranging from 110-170 m/min, a feed rate of 0.02-0.08 mm/rev and depth of cut of 0.7 mm. PVD-TiAlN coated tungsten carbide insert was used for the experimentation. The experimental results of nMQL condition were compared with the dry and wet condition. The results proved that application nMQL has given 15-49 % enhanced tool life with better surface finish as compared with dry and wet condition, respectively. No major phase change occurs in nMQL when compared with other conditions because of their low cutting temperature.
