This study aimed to explore changes in research articles published in the Asia-Pacific Journal of Research in Early Childhood Education (APJRECE) over time. To that end, keyword network analysis was conducted on a total of 244 research articles published in the journal during the 15-year period (both overall and in 5-year increments) from 2007 to 2021. The following results were obtained: first, discussions on common, important topics in early childhood education were held continuously and changes in keyword trends were observable within each of the different 5-year periods. Second, although APJRECE articles initially focused on qualitative studies, a balance of quantitative and qualitative research with some mixed-method papers and literature reviews was eventually attained. Third, an analysis of APJRECE articles by region revealed that the journal included studies from diverse locations, including East Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, North America, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. These results confirm that APJRECE functions well as an international journal and that it provides a platform for academic exchange. Additionally, the results indicate that it has addressed and considered a wide range of topics and issues in early childhood education over time.

This study aims to conduct philosophical discussions with kindergarten teachers to understand their perceptions regarding the adoption of intercultural education through. To this end, eight kindergarten teachers’ perceptions of intercultural education were grasped, initially through individual face-to-face interviews and additionally-after dividing the teachers into two groups of four-through philosophical discussions. First, through repeated questioning and grounds suggestions on philosophical questions during the active discussion, the kindergarten teachers were found to engage in reconceptualization toward mutual agreement. Secondly, the teachers were found to have different perceptions of how intercultural education affects early childhood teachers versus how it affects children. They suggested that philosophical discussions may be effective in intercultural education for teachers, while a democratic class climate should be formed within the current framework of education in advance to allow children to practice intercultural education. Ultimately, it was suggested that the highlighted topics and cases that make intercultural education possible should be developed for early childhood teachers and children.

The purpose of this study was to assess the perceptions held by kindergarten principals, associate principals, and teachers regarding the necessity, preparation, and utilization of the daily lesson plan. Specifically, this study was designed to provide insight into possible ways to improve the daily lesson plan by seeking inputs from teaching and administrative staffs in kindergartens in South Korea regarding the practical application of the plan. For this purpose, a total of ten participants were interviewed, and the contents of the interviews were analyzed through a systematic classification. As a result, the participants were classified into two groups: one group expressed that the plan is necessary while the other group expressed that the plan creates unnecessary paperwork. In addition, many participants worried that the plan was not applied in practice, although they believed that the plan aids in establishing learning objectives of the day, maintaining balance among different learning activities, and stimulating students’ interest. Finally, participants had different perceptions of the degree of the plan’s practical use.
유아 흡연예방교육을 위한 교사 교육프로그램의 시범 적용 및 효과

본 연구는 유아 흡연예방교육을 위해 시범 적용한 교사 교육프로그램의 효과를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구의 대상은 전국 유아교육기관 교사 242명이며, 프로그램의 시범적용은 2016년 11월 1일부터 11월 25일에 실시되었다. 프로그램의 효과를 살피기 위해 사용된 설문지는 교사의 지식, 태도, 실천을 측정하는 문항으로 구성되어 있으며, 관련문헌을 바탕으로 연구진이 제작하였다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 교사 교육프로그램은 교사의 유아 흡연예방교육의 지식, 태도, 실천 수준을 모두 향상시켰다. 둘째, 프로그램의 효과를 교사의 개인변인별로 살펴보면, 교사 교육프로그램은 교사의 학력, 경력에 상관없이 지식, 태도, 실천 수준을 향상시켰다. 셋째, 교사의 기관변인별로 살펴보면, 교사 교육프로그램은 기관유형과 교사의 담당학급에 상관없이 지식, 태도, 실천의 수준을 향상시켰다. 본 연구의 결과는 개발된 교사 교육프로그램이 교사의 개인변인 및 기관변인과 상관없이 유아흡연예방교육에 대한 교사의 지식, 태도, 실천 수준 향상에 효과가 있음을 의미한다. 이를 통해 유아교사의 흡연예방교육에 대한 역량 증진을 위해 유아 흡연예방 교사 교육의 지속적인 시행이 필요함을 시사하였다. This study aimed to develop a teacher training program for smoking prevention education for young children and verify its effects. For the study, 242 early childhood teachers responded to a survey questionnaire which examines teachers’ knowledge, attitude, and practice for smoking prevention education. The results revealed that teachers’ knowledge, attitude and practice improved through the training program . Secondly, in terms of individual variables, teachers’ knowledge, attitude and practice improved regardless of their educational backgrounds and years of teaching experiences. Thirdly, in terms of institutional variables, teachers’ knowledge, attitude and practice improved regardless of the types of the institutions and the class levels in charge. The results of this study imply that teacher education is necessary for the effective operation of smoking prevention education for young children.
한 중년여성이 딸과 사위와의 관계에서 경험한 자기분화에 대한 내러티브 탐구

본 연구에서는 60대 초반의 한 중년여성이 딸과 사위와의 관계에서 경험한 자기분화를Clandinin과 Connelly(2000)가 제안한 3차원적 내러티브 탐구 공간(시간성, 사회성, 장소) 안에서 탐구하였다. 자료수집은 심층면담, 전화, 문자, 관찰, 연구일지 등을 활용하여 이루어졌다. 본연구자는 연구참여자의 이야기를 ‘주눅 든 아이로 성장’, ‘결혼 후 겪은 경제적 어려움과 불행한삼각관계’, ‘남편을 닮은 사위와 나를 닮은 딸’, ‘외손자 양육을 떠맡고 쌓여가는 원망과 분노’, ‘사위에 대한 미움을 풀어내고 사위와 딸에게 부모 역할을 넘겨줌’, ‘즐거워진 손자 양육지원과 여유로운 개인 시간’으로 구성하였다. 그리고 이러한 자기분화 경험의 의미를 ‘갈등의 뿌리를 찾아가다’, ‘시들어가는 검불로 살았던 자기를 자각하다’, ‘개별적 존재로서 자율성과 연결감의 균형을 찾아가다’, ‘큰 느티나무로 살아가기를 꿈꾸다’로 구성하였다. 본 연구는 한 중년여성이 딸과사위와의 관계에서 경험한 자기분화를 전생애적 관점에서 살펴보았으며, 한 중년여성의 자기분화가 딸과 사위의 성장으로 어떻게 이어지는지를 보여주었다는 점에서 의의가 있다. This study explores the self-differentiation experienced by a middle-aged woman in her early 60s with respect to the relationship with her daughter and son-in-law in the three-dimensional narrative inquiry space of temporality, sociality, place (Clandinin & Connelly, 2000). Data was collected through in-depth interviews, telephone calls, text messages, observations, and research journals. The researchers constructed the research participant’s narrative as ‘growing as a timid child’, ‘financial problems and unhappy triangular relationship after the wedding’, ‘the similarities in the life of her husband and son-in-law and the life of her daughter and her’, ‘resentment and anger accumulating while raising a grandchild alone’, ‘letting go of hatred towards her son-in-law and handing over parenting responsibilities to her daughter and son-in-law’, and ‘happily helping child care for her grandchild and enjoying more leisure time.’ The research participants described the meaning of her self-differentiation experience as ‘Finding the root of conflict’, ‘Becoming aware of herself who used to live like withering weeds and bushes’, ‘Finding the balance between autonomy and connection as an individual being’, ‘Dreaming of living as a big zelkova tree.’ This study is meaningful in that it examines a middle-aged woman’s self-differentiation experience with respect to her relationship with her daughter and son-in-law from her whole-life perspective.
