<P>For the electrical insulation of a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) cable, wrapped polypropylene laminated paper (PPLP) tape is typically used. Unfortunately, it is possible that unexpected faults at insulation layers will be present in the cables as a result of either a problematic manufacturing process or an incomplete installation procedure. In order to protect against operational failures of grid-connected HTS cable systems, this paper proposes a nondestructive diagnostic technique, i.e., time-frequency domain reflectometry (TFDR), and focuses on the characteristic of HTS cable that caused the local insulation defects. To verify the performance of the proposed method, detection and localization of local insulation failure via TFDR are compared with traditional time-domain reflectometry. The experiments are conducted at room temperature and under liquid nitrogen in order to check the efficacy of the proposed method in varieties of HTS cable's conditions. In addition, to improve the accuracy of detection and localization, a methodology to analyze incident signals, which are composed of upchirp and downchirp signals, is presented.</P>

<P>A high-temperature superconducting (HTS) cable system with the 22.9 kV, 50 MVA, and 410 m length is installed and operated at 154 kV Icheon substation of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). Unfortunately, it is a difficult task to diagnose and monitor electrical and thermal characteristics of the HTS cable system in a real-time manner. In order to protect operational failures of grid-connected HTS cable systems, this paper proposes time-frequency domain reflectometry (TFDR) and analysis techniques, i.e., time-frequency cross correlation and instantaneous frequency estimation. To verify the performance of the proposed method, the temperature is changed via the cryogenic refrigeration system and the status of the grid-connected HTS cable is monitored via TFDR in a real-time manner.</P>

<P>In this paper, we propose a new time-frequency based analysis method that monitors the state of the high temperature superconducting (HTS) cable system in a real-time manner and detects the current imbalance of HTS cable system. The new time-frequency-based method utilizes the cross Wigner–Ville distribution to analyze the time-frequency localized phase difference of the reflected signal, which varies depending on the insulation characteristics of the HTS cable system. Also, a real-world AC 22.9 kV 50 MVA HTS cable system and a current source are used to validate the performance of the new monitoring method in order to detect current imbalance phenomenon.</P>

<P>Hepatitis C virus (HCV) nonstructural protein 5B (NS5B), an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), is the key enzyme for HCV RNA replication. We previously showed that HCV RdRp is phosphorylated by protein kinase C-related kinase 2 (PRK2). In the present study, we used biochemical and reverse-genetics approaches to demonstrate that HCV NS5B phosphorylation is crucial for viral RNA replication in cell culture. Two-dimensional phosphoamino acid analysis revealed that PRK2 phosphorylates NS5B exclusively at its serine residues <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I>. Using <I>in vitro</I> kinase assays and mass spectrometry, we identified two phosphorylation sites, Ser29 and Ser42, in the Δ1 finger loop region that interacts with the thumb subdomain of NS5B. Colony-forming assays using drug-selectable HCV subgenomic RNA replicons revealed that preventing phosphorylation by Ala substitution at either Ser29 or Ser42 impairs HCV RNA replication. Furthermore, reverse-genetics studies using HCV infectious clones encoding phosphorylation-defective NS5B confirmed the crucial role of these PRK2 phosphorylation sites in viral RNA replication. Molecular-modeling studies predicted that the phosphorylation of NS5B stabilizes the interactions between its Δ1 loop and thumb subdomain, which are required for the formation of the closed conformation of NS5B known to be important for <I>de novo</I> RNA synthesis. Collectively, our results provide evidence that HCV NS5B phosphorylation has a positive regulatory role in HCV RNA replication.</P><P><B>IMPORTANCE</B> While the role of RNA-dependent RNA polymerases (RdRps) in viral RNA replication is clear, little is known about their functional regulation by phosphorylation. In this study, we addressed several important questions about the function and structure of phosphorylated hepatitis C virus (HCV) nonstructural protein 5B (NS5B). Reverse-genetics studies with HCV replicons encoding phosphorylation-defective NS5B mutants and analysis of their RdRp activities revealed previously unidentified NS5B protein features related to HCV replication and NS5B phosphorylation. These attributes most likely reflect potential structural changes induced by phosphorylation in the Δ1 finger loop region of NS5B with two identified phosphate acceptor sites, Ser29 and Ser42, which may transiently affect the closed conformation of NS5B. Elucidating the effects of dynamic changes in NS5B phosphorylation status during viral replication and their impacts on RNA synthesis will improve our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of NS5B phosphorylation-mediated regulation of HCV replication.</P>

목 적: 현재 한국의 정신과 사 년 차를 대상으로 정신과 전공의 수련 과정에서 이루어지는 약물 치료 이외의 치료 방법들에 대한 현황을 파악하고 분석해 봄으로써 앞으로의 다양한 치료 방법들에 대한 정신과 전공의 수련 교육의 내용과 수준, 교육 방식을 설정하고 문제점 및 개선 방안을 모색해 볼 수 있는 계기를 마련코자 한다. 연구대상 및 방법: 두 달 동안 전국 72개 수련병원에서 근무 중인 전공의 사년 차 126명을 대상으로 설문 검사를 실시하였고 총 63명(50%)이 응답하였다. 설문지의 보기에는 총 39가지의 치료법을 제시하였다. 결 과: 현 전공의 사 년 차가 수련 기간 동안 경험한 치료 술기의 수는 최소 1개에서 최대 17개로, 평균 6.9개의 치료술기를 경험하 였다. 지역별 차이(수도권 지역과 비수도권 지역)와 전공의의 치료 술기의 다양성은 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 병원 내 전문의의 수와 연 차별 전공의의 수는 치료 다양성은 양의 상관관계를 맺고 있었다. 전공의 들은 현재 병원 내에서 시행하고 있지는 않으나 관심이 있는 분야로 최면(45%), EMDR(26.7%), 예술치료(21.7%)를 꼽았다. 결 론: 전공의가 경험하는 치료 내용의 양적 및 질적 차이가 줄어들 수 있도록 본 학회는 물론 각 분과 학회의 배려가 필요할 것이다. Objective:The aim of this study was to survey fourth year psychiatric residents' experience about the application of non-pharmacological therapies during their residency training in Korea. This survey may help trainer to determine how psychiatric trainee think about their level of education, content of education, methods of education, and current problems in psychiatric residency training, as well as to reform the non-pharmacological psychiatric therapies. Methods:A total of 63 subjects completed the questionnaires we sent. 39 types of therapy were included in the questionnaire. Results:The results of our survey showed that the total number of therapies that residents were exposed to during their four years of training ranged from 1 to 17 (6.9±3.3). The regional disparity, the nation’s metropolitan area vs non-metropolitan area, had non-significant effect on the diversity of non-pharmacological psychiatric interventions. The number of faculty members and the number of residents were positively correlated with the diversity of nonpharmacological psychiatric therapies. The results of our survey also showed that many residents were interested in other types of non-pharmacological psychiatric interventions that they have not been exposed to, such as hypnosis (45%), EMDR (26.7%), and art therapy (21.7%). Conclusion:It would be necessary to reduce differences of both quantity and quality of therapies experienced among psychiatric residents for improving in residency training system.

<P>Pediococcus acidilactici is a widely used probiotic, and Salmonella enterica serovar Gallinarum (SG) is a significant pathogen in the poultry industry. In this study, we improved the antimicrobial activity of P. acidilactici against SG using UV mutation and genome shuffling (GS). To improve antimicrobial activity against SG, UV mutagenesis was performed against wild-type P. acidilactici (WT), and five mutants showed improved antimicrobial activity. To further improve antimicrobial activity, GS was performed on five UV mutants. Following GS, four mutants showed improved antimicrobial activity compared with the UV mutants and WT. The antimicrobial activity of GS1 was highest among the mutants; however, the activity was reduced when the culture supernatant was treated with proteinase K, suggesting that the improved antimicrobial activity is due to a proteinous substance such as bacteriocin. To validate the activity of GS1 in vivo, we designed multi-species probiotics and performed broiler feeding experiments. Groups consisted of no treatment (NC), avilamycin-treated (PC), probiotic group 1 containing WT (T1), and probiotic group 2 containing GS1 (T2). In broiler feeding experiments, coliform bacteria were significantly reduced in T2 compared with NC, PC, and T1. The cecal microbiota was modulated and pathogenic bacteria were reduced by GS1 oral administration. In this study, GS1 showed improved antimicrobial activity against SG in vitro and reduced pathogenic bacteria in a broiler feeding experiment. These results suggest that GS1 can serve as an efficient probiotic, as an alternative to antibiotics in the poultry industry.</P>
