      • Clinical characteristics of green nail syndrome: A retrospective analysis

        Background: Green nail syndrome (GNS) is an infectious disease developing greenish discoloration of the nail with accompanying nail disorder such as onycholysis and paronychia. However the data about its clinical characteristics and treatment response has been limited. Objectives: To investigate the clinical characteristics of green nail syndrome in Korean patients. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed medical records and clinical photos of 80 patients with 96 GNS lesions who diagnosed with GNS in the Pusan National University Hospitals (Busan and Yangsan) from 2009 through 2020. Results: 52 patients (65%) had risk factors for GNS include frequent wet conditions, immunosuppressive conditions, and trauma. Involvement of the thumbnail or great toenail was found in 62 lesions (64.6%). Pseudomonas aeruginosa was detected on 23 nails (48.9%) among 47 nails showing positive bacterial culture, and fungal infection was found on 19 nails (19.7%). Several treatments including bleaching and drying nail, topical antibiotics, topical antifungals, and surgical avulsion were tried. And there were some differences of therapeutic responses according to the selected treatment modalities. Bleaching and drying showed better effect on color changes of nail, while topical antibiotics and antifungal cream showed better effect on preventing spreading. Conclusion: The result of this study could be helpful for dermatologists when encountering patients with greenish nail change.

        농촌지역 여성고령자의 현미덤벨체조가 체조성, 체력 및 식습관에 미치는 영향

        The present study evaluated the possibility of dumbbell exercise as to improve the physical fitness and the health starus of old people in rural area. Although eighty seven volunteers of old women (over 64) living in Seonsan, Gumi city were subjected, twenty of them were attended the whole program for 6 months and the data from the twenty was analysed in this study. The results were drawn out from comparison of the body constitutuion, the physical strength, the medical aspectrs, and the questionaires of before and after this program. They showed increased physical fithess tested by grip strength (left), bar gripping reaction time, standing trunk flexibility, on foot standing test through dumbbell exercise for 6 months. Questionaire revealed the betterment of dietary pattem during this program. In the light of in these results, it is possible to conclude that dumbbell exercise had improved the basic physical condition and the health status through the increasement of physical fitness and dietary pattem change. Therefore, dumbbell exercise would be a useful program for the old people in reual area to improved their health status.

        Gonadal Development, Spawning and Plasma Sex Steroid Levels of the Indoor Cultured Grunt, Hapalogenys nitens

        The gonadosomatic index (GSI), gonadal development and changes in hormones in plasma level of the indoor cultured grunt (Hapalogenys nitens) were investigated by histological study from August 2011 to October 2012. The GSI showed similar trends with gonad developmental stages during the culture periods. Changes in plasma level of estradiol-$17{\beta}$ of female H. nitens reached the highest value before the spawning period, and seasonal changes in plasma level of estradiol-$17{\beta}$ were similar in trends of oocyte developments and GSI changes. Testosterone levels of male H. nitens reached the highest value before and after the spent stage. Ovarian developmental stages of H. nitens could be classified into early growing stage, late growing stage, mature stage, ripe and spawning stage, recovery and resting stage. The testicular developmental stages could be divided into growing stage, mature stage, ripe and spent stage, and recovery and resting stage.

      • MOSFET의 표면 채널 전도도의 온도특성

        In this paper, PMOSFET was fabricated by following a standard MOSFET fabrication process and the relation between channel conductivity and temperature was investigated. In order to show this relation, the variation of drain current(??) and gate voltage(??) and threshold voltage (??) with temperature were measured. The experimental results show the transition of conduction mechanism with temperature and the effect of gate electric field on the temperature characteristics of channel conductivity. At lower gate voltage, negative and zero temperature coefficients were appeared at lower temperature range because of the decrement of charge mobility and positive temperature coefficient was appeared at higher temperature range because of the surface state ionization. At higher gate voltage, zero temperature coefficient was appeared because of the equal effect of surface state ionization and mobility decrement on conductivity. In the region where the surface state ionization is dominant mechanism, the value of ?? was typically-13~-18mV/C and the corresponding surface state density was 3.4x??~4.7x?? ?? ?? and the variation of threshold voltage with temperature was -10mV/C.

        Glucose Oxidase가 척수지각신경절세포에 미치는 영향과 천마의 효과에 관한 연구

        Objectives : To clarify the cytotoxic effect of glucose oxidase(GO) and protective effect of gastrodiae Rhizoma (GR) on spinal sensory ganglion(DRG) neurons, neurotoxicity mediated by GO was measured by MTT assay and neurofilament enzymeimmuno assay(EIA). Methods : DRG neurons were cultured in the media containing various concentrations of GO for 3 hours. In addition, neuroprotective effects of GR, on GO-induced neurotoxicity in DRG neurons were examined after DRG neurons were preincubated with various concentrations of GR for 2 hours before 15mU/ml GO for 3 hours. Results : GO decreased remarkably cell viability in dependently in these cultures, and also RG increased cell viability and amount of neurofilament in DRG neurons damaged by GO. Conclusion : It is suggested that GO has toxic effect in cultured mouse DRG neurons, and also RG was effective in the protection of GO-induced neurotoxicity in these cultures.

        겹침이음실험을 통한 삼중나노소재 혼입 철근콘크리트보의 부착성능에 대한 실험적 고찰

        This study aims to assess the impact of combining triple hybrid reinforced concrete with carbon nanotubes, nanosilica, and graphene oxide on bond strength. The mechanical properties of these materials were evaluated through material testing and assessed bond strength via lap-splice experiments. The material testing revealed that nano-reinforced concrete had a slight increase in compressive strength compared to regular concrete but showed a significant improvement in splitting tensile strength. It also exhibited decreased volumetric strain and Poissons ratio. To understand if these mechanical properties influenced bond strength, laboratory splice experiments were conducted using eight reinforced concrete specimens, varying splice length and cover thickness. The results of the lap-splice experiment showed variations in bond strength depending on the inclusion of nanomaterials in the mixture, with varying increases in bond strength as splice strength changed. This suggests that the combination of these triple nanomaterials does impact the bond performance of concrete.

      • 열대둥근마 (Dioscorea alata Thunb)의 괴경 수량 및 저장성 향상을 위한 적정 수확시기

        Background : Unlike Dioscorea japonica or Dioscore opposita, Dioscore alata is a high-temperature crop mainly cultivated in Africa and subtropical regions. Due to recent climate change, its cultivation area is expanding in Korea. In 2016, the Institute for Bioresource Research clarified optimal harvesting stage to increase its tuber yield and ensure safe storability. Methods and Results : As the seed-tubers for this study, Dioscorea alata tubers were cut into a size of 50 g, disinfected with lime powder, dentated on the seed bed with electrothermal wire installed on March 20th, and then planted on the main field on April 15th. The planting distance was 120 ㎝ in width, where the furrows of 90 ㎝ were cladded with black vinyl, in two rows with a column spacing of 25 ㎝. The amounts of applied fertilizers were 2,000 ㎏ compost, 34 ㎏ N2, 28 ㎏ P2O6, and 28 ㎏ K2O. The compost and P2O5 were used in full, where as N2 and K2O were used as original fertilizer 14 (10 ㎏) and additional fertilizer 20 (18 ㎏), respectively. The crop was harvested in six times from September 20th to November 9th, in an interval of 10 days. While harvesting, the ground fresh weight yield and underground tuber yield were investigated. The underground tuber yield was 836, 1,744 and 2,975 ㎏ low at the early harvests on September 20th, 30th, and October 10th, respectively, while it was 3,622, 3,828, 3,818 ㎏ high on October 20th, 30th, and November 9th, respectively. The ground fresh weight yield remained the same. To clarify tuber storability by harvest time, they were stored at 15℃after harvest, and then healthy and corrupt tubers were studied on March 23th. The corruption ratio by harvest time was highest at 39.1% and 29.3% on October 30th and November 9th, respectively, when frost and low temperature damaged harvest. It was 59.0% and 42.8% at the early harvests on September 20th and 30th, respectively. The corruption ratio was lowest on October 20th and October 10th at 29.3% and 39.1%, respectively. Conclusion : Ford. Dioscore alata cultivation, Korea presents a premature and disadvantageous environment with lower temperature and pre-harvest frost at the time of planting. After raising seeding on an electrically heated hot bed, the optimal harvesting stage should be from planting in the middle of April where temperature rises above 1 5℃ to harvesting in the period October 10th - 20th so as to achieve the maximum tuber yield and high storability.

        회전편광자법을 이용한 낮은 셀갭 측정

        본 논문에서는 기존의 회전편광자법에서 낮은 셀갭을 측정할 경우 발생하는 문제점을 보완하기 위하여 수치 해석적인 방법과 위상지연판을 이용한 방법을 도입하였으며 실험적 결과로부터 낮은 셀갭이 측정됨을 보였다. Measurement of low cell gap and retardation by using a rotating polarizer method was proposed. For more precise calculation and measurement, we applied a simple numerical calculation and a retardation film that has large retardation value of 1 ㎛ to measurement system. From experiments, we proved that cell gap and retardation could be measured even though the values of those are so small.

        Serial CT Findings of <i>Paragonimus</i> Infested Dogs and the Micro-CT Findings of the Worm Cysts

        <P><B>Objective</B></P><P>To investigate the serial CT findings of <I>Paragonimus westermani</I> infected dogs and the microscopic structures of the worm cysts using Micro-CT.</P><P><B>Materials and Methods</B></P><P>This study was approved by the committee on animal research at our institution. Fifteen dogs infected with <I>P. westermani</I> underwent serial contrast-enhanced CT scans at pre-infection, after 10 days of infection, and monthly thereafter until six months for determining the radiologic-pathologic correlation. Three dogs (one dog each time) were sacrificed at 1, 3 and 6 months, respectively. After fixation of the lungs, both multi-detector CT and Micro-CT were performed for examining the worm cysts.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The initial findings were pleural effusion and/or subpleural ground-glass opacities or linear opacities at day 10. At day 30, subpleural and peribronchial nodules appeared with hydropneumothorax and abdominal or chest wall air bubbles. Cavitary change and bronchial dilatation began to be seen on CT scan at day 30 and this was mostly seen together with mediastinal lymphadenopathy at day 60. Thereafter, subpleural ground-glass opacities and nodules with or without cavitary changes were persistently observed until day 180. After cavitary change of the nodules, the migratory features of the subpleural or peribronchial nodules were seen on all the serial CT scans. Micro-CT showed that the cyst wall contained dilated interconnected tubular structures, which had communications with the cavity and the adjacent distal bronchus.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>The CT findings of paragonimiasis depend on the migratory stage of the worms. The worm cyst can have numerous interconnected tubular channels within its own wall and these channels have connections with the cavity and the adjacent distal bronchus.</P>
