60 Hz 자기장에서 예쁜꼬마선충(C. elegans)의 발생 및 생식에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 자기장 노출 조건은 $0{\sim}500\;{\mu}T$이며, 실험 온도는 선충의 일반적 배양 온도 범위($2 1.2{\pm}0.6^{\circ}C$)에서 일정하게 유지하였으며, 노출은 선충의 배양 기간 동안 지속되었다. C. elegas 야생형 N2 및 스트레스에 민감한 hsf-1와 crt-1 등의 돌연변이체들에서 실험에 사용한 노출 조건에 따른 생식력의 차이는 없었다. 여러 세대에 걸쳐 자기장에 노출한 경우에도 자기장에 의한 생식력의 변화는 없었다. 결론적으로, C. elegans는 크기가 매우 작으므로(길이 약 1 mm) 유도전류가 적게 발생하여, 자기장($-500\;{\mu}T$)에 의한 영향이 없는 것으로 사려된다.
Quality Characteristics and Antioxidant Activity of Malt Made with domestic Oats

This study was conducted to investigate the quality characteristics and antioxidant activity of malt made from oats. The moisture content of the oat malt was contained 7.33%. The pH, total sugar content, and soluble solid of the oat malt was at 6.05, 119.95 mg/g, and 2°Brix, respectively. The color values of the malt were 56.37 at the L(lightness) value, 2.27 at a(redness) value, and 18.08 at the b(yellowness) value. The protein contents of oat were contained 13.83%. Also, the oat malts higher increased to 14.95% than the barley. The diastatic power was showed at oat malt (163.39 W.K), and higher increased than other malts. The domestic oat malt showed the highest total polyphenol, flavonoid content, and tannic acid. In addition, in the DPPH and ABTS radical-scavenging activity of domestic oat malt extract was increased in a dose-dependent manner and it showed a higher content than other malts. The domestic oat malt contained a higher reducing power than ascorbic acid at 700∼1000 μg/mL concentration. Therefore, these results suggest that domestic malts can be used effectively as functional foods with antioxidant activity or free radical scavenging activity.
Installation and Testing of SFCLs

<P>A 22.9 kV/630 A-class superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) was installed on a distribution line in Icheon Substation for real-grid operation. The substation is located in a semi-urban area with moderate loads. The SFCL is of hybrid type. After installation it was subjected to a series of on-site tests. Test procedures were determined by following convention in testing both superconductivity-related and not-related specifications of the SFCL. Tests performed were minimum limiting current test, temperature test, dielectric test, and impedance measurement. After successfully passing the tests, the cooling system of the SFCL was operated for more than 5 months under various load conditions to optimize the operation condition. During that period, temperatures, liquid nitrogen level, and internal pressure remained within ±0.1 K, ±0.5 cm, and ±0.5 bar range, proving stability in cooling superconducting elements. The SFCL was then energized and went into real-load operation successfully.</P>

Bowenoid papulosis is manifested by clinically the benign-appearing papules of anogenital region and histopathologically similar features of squamous cellurar inoma in situ in human. A cause is thought to be Human Papillomavirus infection, type 16. The treatment is mainly through conservative management but others are topical application of podophyllin, shave excision, local excision, cryotherapy, electrodessication, topical applcation of 5-FU ointment and subcutaneous injection of recombinant interferon gamma. We present a case of Howenoid papulosis treated with DNCB imriunotherapy. The patient, had multiple papules on the penis with mild pruitus. Histopatnologic findings showed crowding and irregular arrangement of the nucleic many of which are large, hyperchromatic, and pleomorphic. Dyskeratotic and multinucleated keratinocytes wire also present, as were atypical mitoses, scattered in epidermal layer. We treated him with DNCB immunotherapy. Initially he was sensitized with 2,000 ug/0.1ml and two weeks later he received 50 ug/0.1ml per every week. After 3 weeks, he had showed no improvement and we elevated the dose to 100 ug/0.1ml. He was improved after 6th trial and his skir. lesions were almostly disappeared at present. (Kor J Dermatol 1992;30(5):869-673)

Syndromal acanthosis nigricans is associated with cellular resistance to the action of insulin and other endocrinopathies. In the insulin resistant state, increased insulin binds to the receptors of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs). IGFs are growth prompting peptides, which act as direct mitogens on cells containing the receptors. Through these actions, increased cellular growth and metabolism cause the skin lesions of acanthosis nigricans. Hyperandrogenism is also found in syndromal acanthosis nigricans patients. When associated with insulin resistance, these states are proportionally related. Increased insulin prompts the synthesis of androgen and conversely, increased androgen elevates the insulin resistance. We present three cases of syndromal acanthosis nigricans with hyperpigmented skin lesions and obesity. Laboratory findings demonstrated normal fasting blood suga levels with increased insulin and C-peptide levels and decreased insulin receptors. The oral glucose tolerance test was normal. We suggest that these patients were in an insulin resistant state. Skin biopsies from the axilla in all three cases showed hyperkeratosis, irregular acanthosis and upward projection of dermal papillae as finger like fashion. Thus all three cases represent syndromal acanthosis nigricans associated with an insulin resistant state based on clinical, histopathological, and laboratory findings.
