Identification of campesterol from Chrysanthemum coronarium L. and its antiangiogenic activities

<P>Campesterol, a plant sterol in nature, is known to have cholesterol lowering and anticarcinogenic effects. Since angiogenesis is essential for cancer, it was surmised that an antiangiogenic effect may be involved in the anticancer action of this compound. This study investigated the effect of campesterol on basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF)-induced angiogenesis in vitro in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and an in vivo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model. Campesterol isolated from an ethylacetate fraction of Chrysanthemum coronarium L. showed a weak cytotoxicity in non-proliferating HUVECs. Within the non-cytotoxic concentration range, campesterol significantly inhibited the bFGF-induced proliferation and tube formation of HUVECs in a concentration-dependent manner, while it did not affect the motility of HUVECs. Furthermore, campesterol effectively disrupted the bFGF-induced neovascularization in chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) in vivo. Taken together, these results support a potential antiangiogenic action of campesterol via an inhibition of endothelial cell proliferation and capillary differentiation. 한국산(韓國産) 식용(食用) 해조류(海藻類)의 성분(成分)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) -I. 수종(數種) 식용(食用) 갈조류(褐藻類)의 구성(構成) 성분(成分)에 대(對)하여-

한국산(韓國産) 식용해조류(食用海藻類)의 구성성분(構成成分)을 조사(調査)하기 위하여 10종(種)의 식용(食用) 갈조류와 2종(種)의 비식용(非食用) 갈조류를 재료로 하여 일반화학성분(一般化學成分)과 각종 무기염류를 분석 검토하였다. 시료(試料)는 1970년(年) 10월(月) $28{\sim}30$일(日) 제주도에서 채집(採集)하였다. 1) 일반성분(一般成分) 중(中) 수분(水分)은 건물량(乾物量)의 $14{\sim}16%$를 함유하고, 조단백질은 대부분(大部分)이 16% 정도여서 육상야생 식용식물의 경우와 비슷하였다. 조지방(粗脂肪)은 $0.7{\sim}2.0%$ 정도이고, 조섬유(粗纖維)는 $3{\sim}8%$였으나 조회분(粗灰分)은 $9.17{\sim}16.89%$로 매우 높은 함량을 나타내고 있다. 환원당으로 정량한 유리 단당류는 $0.27{\sim}2.49%$를 포함하고 있다. 2) 무기염류 중에서는 Ca이 가장 많아서 $1.73{\sim}2.51%$였고, S이 그 다음으로 $1.0{\sim}1.8%$, Na 과 K이 약 1% 정도였다. Mg과 옥소(沃素)는 약 $0.1{\sim}1%$였고 미량원소에 속하는 Fe과 Zn은 약 $0.01{\sim}0.03%$, Cu와 Mn은 $0.001{\sim}0.005%$ 정도였다. 3) 식용성(食用性) 갈조류와 비식용성(非食用性)인 것 사이에 그 구성성분상(構成成分上) 특기할 차이는 없었고 더욱이 본 실험 결과만으로는 이들의 분류(分類) 내지(乃至) 계통학적(系統學的) 유연관계를 설명해 줄 수 있는 성분상의 차이는 찾아 볼 수 없었다. 4) 해조류가 식품(食品)으로서 지니는 가치는 지방 단백질 및 탄수화물의 함량보다 각종(各種) 무기염류가 다량(多量)으로 또한 다양(多樣)하게 들어 있는 점(點)에 있다고 할 것이다. In order to investigate chemical components of edible marine algae in Korea, the present work is carried out with ten edible and two non-edible species of brown algae, collected from Cheju-island during October, 28-30 in 1970. Among the general components, water content is about 14-16% to dry weight and the crude protein about 16%, which are almost similar in content compared with several non-cultivate edible land plants. The content of crude fat is about 0.7-2.0%, and that of crude fiber about 3-8%, while the content of crude ash is 9.17-16.89%. The last one is more than two times in content compared with the land plants. The reducing sugar is about 0.27-2.49% in general. On the other hand, among the minerals Ca content is the most abundant, 1.73-2.51%, and the next is S, 1.0-1.8%. Mg and I are around 0.1-1%, while K and Na are about 1% in content. Among the micro-elements, Fe and Zn are about 0.01-0.03%, and Cu and Mn 0.001-0.005% in content. There is no special significant difference in chemical components between the edible and non-edible species of brown algae. Moreover, so far as the present investigation is concerned, there can be found no significant inter-species relationship on the taxonomical or phylogenetical points of view, considering their components.

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the level of attitudes to and diffusion of Intravenous infusion nursing practice guideline in advanced general hospitals and general hospitals in Korea. Methods: The subjects were 41 nurses who were in charge of guideline diffusion in 41 advanced general hospitals and general hospitals. Data were collected between September 25 and November 2, 2014 by mail (return rates: 68.3 %). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANOVA with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: The average attitude score of guideline among nurses in charge of guideline diffusion were 3.98±0.38 (range 1~5). The average guideline diffusion score and levels of diffusion was 2.26±1.39 (level of “persuasion of nursing knowledge”) for staff nurses, 3.05±0.86 (level of “use sometimes”) for nurses in charge of guideline diffusion, 2.87±0.78 (level of “use sometimes”) for nurse directors. 41.4 % of nursing divisions in 41 hospitals reviewed the intravenous infusion nursing practice guideline, educated the guideline to nurses, and implemented the guideline in clinical practice for guideline diffusion. Conclusion: Study findings indicate that nurses in charge of intravenous infusion nursing practice guideline in hospitals had positive attitude for guideline. The levels of guideline diffusion in hospitals was “persuasion of nursing knowledge” to “use sometimes”. Therefore, the strategies for promoting the diffusion and implementation of guideline in clinical practice in the level of nursing division is needed. Further study of outcome evaluation of guideline implementation will be needed.

The medicinal plant Panax ginseng (P. ginseng) contains various phytosterols and bioactive triterpene saponins (ginsenosides). Squalene synthase catalyzes the first committed step in ginsenoside biosynthesis. Transgenic plants of P. ginseng were generated by introducing the squalene synthase gene derived from P. ginseng. Adventitious roots of the transgenic ginseng grew best in B5 medium, and 2 g of inoculum secured an optimal growth rate. Two phytohormones, indolebutyric acid and 1-naphtalene acetic acid, increased root growth and decreased ginsenoside production. Treatment with two selected elicitors, chitosan and jasmonic acid, and a precursor of the isoprenoid pathway, mevalonic acid, enhanced ginsenoside production and retarded ginseng growth rate.
Microsatellite Sequence Variation of Eleven Lineages of European Honeybee(Apis mellifera) in Korea

Honeybees (Apis mellifera) adapted themselves to different geographical and climatical conditions since they had been introduced in Korea. Beekeepers have tried to breed valuable lineages with artificial insemination or conventional mating techniques. However, evaluation of breeding resultants still relies on timeconsuming observation data. Genetical characterization of breeds has proven its usefulness to preserve genetic resources of livestock. In recent years, microsatellites are most commonly used to evaluate population structures and diversities of living organisms in that the characteristics of locus specificity, rich polymorphism, abundant and random distribution over the genome, and their co-dominant inheritance. Determining classic genetic distances using neutral, highly polymorphic microsatellite markers is a reliable method to investigate genetic relationships and breed differentiation. This methodology can be used to establish preservation priorities for livestock breeds. The final aim of this study was to develop potent markers for assessing genetic structure of lineages after artificial insemination. In this study, the genetic structure of ten microsatellite markers were sequenced or analysed with polymerase chain reaction for eleven European honeybee populations. The results may help to develop reliable microsatellite markers for more efficient preservation strategies of valuable honeybee breeds.

최근까지 사용내구연한에 대한 규정으로 전동차의 정기적인 교체가 진행되었지만, 이제부터는 25년으로 정해졌던 사용내구연한에 대한 규정이 국내도시철도법에서 개정되어 병행 삭제되었기 때문에 전동차의 제동장치, 보조전원 및 추진제어장치 등의 주요장치의 주기적 및 통합적인 교체는 불가능하다. 이런 현실에서 주요장치의 수명연장이 필요하다. 문제가 발생했을 때 차량의 안전에 필수적인 제동제어장치의 수명연장이 타 장치들보다 선행되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 제동제어장치의 수명연장을 위하여 제동장치의 전원 및 미세제어시스템의 안정화 방안을 제시함으로써, 이를 통해 차량시스템의 안전성을 향상하고 유지보수를 보다 효율적으로 개선하고자 한다. The old Electric Rolling Stocks were replaced with new ones regularly until recently, because the rule of the Endurance Use Period was applied to manage it. But, it is not possible to change them, because that rule was deleted from the Urban Railroad Act of Korea. Thus, the main system to operate the Electric Rolling Stocks is necessary to extend the life. The main systems are consist of many parts: braking, auxiliary power supply, propulsion control device and so on. First of all, the life of the brake system has to be extended in advance to ensure safety. This study attempts to improve the safety and maintenance of the Electric Rolling Stocks by suggesting a stabilizing method of the Power supply and Micro control system for extending the life of the brake electronic control unit.
