Statistical analysis of IP documents on “Artificial Neural Network” from Google Patents Database
Vol.7 No.1
Machine Learning (ML), a subset of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a scientific study of algorithms and statistical models. A computer uses these learning algorithms to perform tasks without direct instructions from the programmer. Among many machine learning models, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are widely used today for different problems. Many noble works are proposed as well as established in this field for problems which are very hard to deduce solution with traditional methods. In this paper the proposed noble works regarding this topic are analyzed statistically, which are found in the Google Patents Database.
Vol.9 No.1
Recently, research on Internet of Things (IOT) that carries out communication between people and objects by adding communication ability to various things has been actively carried out, and as technology advances, the Internet of Things has become an axis of communication infrastructure. As a result, Visual-MIMO technology, which can be used effectively in representative Internet of Things such as smart home, smart home appliances, and smart highways, is in the spotlight. Visual-MIMO technology is a type of Visible Light Communication (VLC) that uses LEA (LED Array) as the transmitter and Camera (Image Sensor) as the receiver. Visual-MIMO uses LEDs that are essential for indoor and highway environments where existing IoT infrastructures are established, and uses cameras (smartphone cameras) that are owned by most people as a means of reception, making it easier to build infrastructure. In addition, it is suitable for location-based Internet of Things services based on location information of LED transmitters, and has the advantage of being able to be used without restriction in situations where the use of existing RF communications, such as hospitals and aircrafts, is extremely limited due to no interference from electromagnetic waves and no human hazards. In this paper, the patent trends of major countries in the world of Visual-MIMO communication technology are identified and the current degree of development and direction of development of the corresponding technology are analyzed. Korea, the United States, Europe, Japan, and China were selected as major countries in the world, and through the analysis of patent statistics in each country, the research direction of Visual-MIMO technology is presented to secure strong patents in the future.
