      • Edit Propagation for Natural Image Using Matting Affinity

        Shanshan Huang,Zhifeng Xie,Lizhuang Ma (사)한국CDE학회 2010 한국CAD/CAM학회 국제학술발표 논문집 Vol.2010 No.8

The popularity of stroke-based image/video appearance editing is increasing in image processing field because of the intuitive, easy-to-control interactive interface. In this paper, we propose a new approach to editing natural image that adopts a stroke-based workflow. In our framework, the user paints a few simple brush strokes on region of interest and specifies edit value on each region. These constraints are propagated to the rest of the image by building an energy minimization formulation under the policy that pixels with similar appearance should receive similar edits. In this paper, we design a new energy minimization formula which can be solved by a linear sparse matrix system. Rather than implying a global affinity is used to measure the similarity of pixel pairs, which especially works well in editing fuzzy images. Experiment results show the effectiveness of our method, which is applicable for a variety of adjustments commonly performed in the digital darkroom.

A new hybrid method for bearing fault diagnosis based on CEEMDAN and ACPSO-BP neural network

        Shanshan Song,Shuqing Zhang,Wei Dong,Xiaowen Zhang,Wei Ma 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.11

As an important part of rotating machinery, the failure of bearings will cause serious vibration and noise of mechanical equipment, which will affect the normal operation of the equipment and even lead to economic losses and casualties. To accurately and efficiently diagnose the working state and fault category of bearings, a new fault diagnosis method for rolling bearings based on the complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (CEEMDAN), weighted permutation entropy (WPE) and adaptive chaotic particle swarm optimization back propagation (BP) neural network (ACPSO-BP) was proposed. CEEMDAN and WPE were used to extract fault features and optimize the feature vector by mean domain specification principles. ACPSO optimizes the convergence speed and recognition accuracy of the BP neural network by introducing an adaptive tent mapping interval. The experimental results on bearing data from Western Reserve University and actual wind turbine data show that the proposed diagnosis method can achieve high fault recognition accuracy with a small number of training samples.

Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy and Rural Residents' E-commerce Entrepreneurial Willingness -Analysis of micro-survey data from China

Ye, Shanshan,Ma, Xingchao,Wang, MengYao 부산대학교 중국연구소 2024 Journal of China Studies Vol.27 No.2

Rural innovation and entrepreneurship serve as crucial driving forces in revitalizing Chinese rural areas. In the context of the national rural revitalization strategy, rural e-commerce has created new ways for agricultural products' entry into cities, rural industry's development, and farmers' employment and entrepreneurship, effectively helping farmers achieve common prosperity. However, despite great progress, rural e-commerce is still facing a large market gap compared with the comprehensive needs of rural economic and social development. Furthermore, rural residents' entrepreneurial motivation to engage in e-commerce activities needs to be strengthened. To address the issues above, this study investigates the impact of two elements, i.e., entrepreneurship and financial literacy, on rural residents' entrepreneurial desire to launch e-commerce, while discussing the mechanisms of influence and adjustment. Based on the rooted theory and literature analysis, this study derives three core research hypotheses on which the questionnaire is designed by strictly following the relevant process. Using the multi-stage sampling method, this study conducted a field questionnaire survey in 192 selected e-commerce specialized villages in 10 cities in Zhejiang Province and collected 1,524 pieces of valid sample data, finding that: ① entrepreneurship can significantly boost rural residents' e-commerce entrepreneurial willingness; ② financial literacy plays a positive moderating role between entrepreneurship and rural residents' e-commerce entrepreneurial willingness; and ③ as shown in heterogeneity study, the lower a rural group's educational level, the greater the positive influence of entrepreneurship on their e-commerce entrepreneurial willingness. While providing an empirical enlightenment for improving rural residents' e-commerce entrepreneurial willingness and cultivating agricultural entrepreneurs from a micro perspective on rural residents, this study expects to ease the pressure in rural growth and boost the rural rehabilitation initiative of China.

Gene expression profiles of skin from cyclin dependent kinases 5-knockdown mice

        Yang Shanshan,Jiao Dingxing,Song Tao,Rui Ping,Fan Ruiwen,Ma Zengjun 아세아·태평양축산학회 2024 Animal Bioscience Vol.37 No.4

Objective: This study aimed to identify genes regulated by cyclin dependent kinases 5 (CDK5) that participate in hair pigmentation in mice. Methods: The mRNA expression profiles of skin samples from CDK5-knockdown mice were constructed using high-throughput RNA sequencing and compared with those of wild-type mice. Results: In total, 8,002 known genes were differentially expressed between CDK5-knockdown and wild-type mice. Of these, 3,658 were upregulated and 4,344 were downregulated in the skin of CDK5-knockdown mice. An additional 318 previously unknown genes were also differentially expressed, with 171 downregulated and 147 upregulated genes in the skin of CDK5-knockdown mice. Of the known genes expressed in mouse skin, 80 were associated with hair color, with 61 showing lower expression and 19 exhibiting higher expression in skin of CDK5-knockdown mice. Importantly, the expression of the tyrosinase-related protein 1 (TYRP1) and the calcium signaling pathway were also found to be regulated by CDK5, suggesting that pigmentation is regulated by CDK5 via the calcium signaling pathway and TYRP1. Conclusion: The transcriptome profiles obtained from the skin of CDK5-knockdown mice compared to wild-type mice provide a valuable resource to help understand the mechanism by which CDK5 regulates melanogenesis in mice and other animals.

Resveratrol Exerts Dosage-Dependent Effects on the Self-Renewal and Neural Differentiation of hUC-MSCs

        Wang, Xinxin,Ma, Shanshan,Meng, Nan,Yao, Ning,Zhang, Kun,Li, Qinghua,Zhang, Yanting,Xing, Qu,Han, Kang,Song, Jishi,Yang, Bo,Guan, Fangxia Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology 2016 Molecules and cells Vol.39 No.5

Resveratrol (RES) plays a critical role in the fate of cells and longevity of animals via activation of the sirtuins1 (SIRT1) gene. In the present study, we intend to investigate whether RES could promote the self-renewal and neural-lineage differentiation in human umbilical cord derived MSCs (hUC-MSCs) in vitro at concentrations ranging from 0.1 to $10{\mu}M$, and whether it exerts the effects by modulating the SIRT1 signaling. Herein, we demonstrated that RES at the concentrations of 0.1, 1 and $2.5{\mu}M$ could promote cell viability and proliferation, mitigate senescence and induce expression of SIRT1 and Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen (PCNA) while inhibit the expression of p53 and p16. However, the effects were reversed by 5 and $10{\mu}M$ of RES. Furthermore, RES could promote neural differentiation in a dose-dependent manner as evidenced by morphological changes and expression of neural markers (Nestin, ${\beta}III-tubulin$ and NSE), as well as pro-neural transcription factors Neurogenin (Ngn)1, Ngn2 and Mash1. Taken together, RES exerts a dosage-dependent effect on the self-renewal and neural differentiation of hUC-MSCs via SIRT1 signaling. The current study provides a new strategy to regulate the fate of hUC-MSCs and suggests a more favorable in vitro cell culture conditions for hUCMSCs-based therapies for some intractable neurological disorders.

Hydroxyapatite Nucleation and Growth on Collagen Electrospun Fibers Controlled with Different Mineralization Conditions and Phosvitin

        Yilin Jie,Zhaoxia Cai,Shanshan Li,Zhuqing Xie,Meihu Ma,Xi Huang 한국고분자학회 2017 Macromolecular Research Vol.25 No.9

In a tenfold-concentrated simulated body fluid, a strategy for rapid deposition of a biomimetic calcium phosphate layer on the scaffolds of electrospun collagen nanofiber membranes was developed. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of mineralization conditions and phosvitin (PV) on hydroxyapatite nucleation and growth. The mineralization model, the pH of the environment, and the deposition time were optimized. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images demonstrated that homogeneous and well-crystallized inorganic mineral layers were generated in the dynamic mineralization model system after incubating 3 h at pH 5.7. PV, which possesses the highest level of phosphorylation among egg proteins, was used as a model protein to investigate the contribution of PV in the mineralization process. The morphological structure and composition of the collagen/calcium phosphate composite nanofibers were also characterized by energy dispersive spectroscopy, scanning photoelectron spectrometer, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. XRD results showed the transformation process of mineralization materials from dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD) to HA through the changes of characteristic peaks at approximately 11° of DCPD and 31.8° of HA. 1.0 mg/mL. Phosvitin significantly promoted the phase transformation from DCPD to hydroxyapatite. High performance liquid chromatography results indicated that PV induced the mineralization rather than being the part of the hydroxyapatite. The minerals formed on electrospun collagen nanofiber membranes were identified to be from hydroxyapatite. These findings extended the potential application field of PV to biomimetic material.

A transcriptional atlas of the silk gland in Antheraea pernyi revealed by IsoSeq

        Duan Jianping,Li Shanshan,Zhang Zhengtian,Yao Lunguang,Yang Xinfeng,Ma Sanyuan,Duan Nini,Wang Jiazhen,Zhu Xuwei,Zhao Ping 한국응용곤충학회 2023 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.26 No.2

Silk fibers spun by the silk gland of Antheraea pernyi have many unique properties and are of great value in genetic improvement and non-traditional applications. However, the complete transcriptional landscape and accurate genic annotation of the silk gland are yet to be conducted, which limits related studies on this organ. In this study, isoform sequencing revealed the full-length transcriptome of the A. pernyi silk gland, producing 12,572 high-confidence isoforms from 7,658 genes, among which more than 40 % of genes have not yet been annotated in the reference genome. Moreover, approximately 9 % of isoforms are computationally identified as long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). Up to 1,492 alternative splicing (AS) and 3,068 alternative polyadenylation (APA) events were revealed within this transcriptome. In addition, 2,569 putative transcription factors (TFs) belonging to 68 different families were first identified in A. pernyi genome, including 871 TFs in silk gland, and some TF families have undergone expansion or contraction. This study significantly improve our knowledge of the genes expressed in the silk gland of A. pernyi and provide a valuable resource for the in-depth study of silk protein synthesis and spinning, genetic improvement, and non-traditional applications in A. pernyi.

Characterization and identification of OsFTL8 gene in rice

        Zhang Siju,Jin Yajun,Hao Hongjiao,Liang Shanshan,Ma Xuan,Luan Weijiang 한국식물생명공학회 2020 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.14 No.6

The rice genome contains 13 Flowering Locus T-Like (FT-Like) genes, among which, OsFTL2/Hd3a and OsFTL3/RFT1 are characterized as forigen-encoding genes, promoting rice fowering under short-day and long-day conditions, respectively. However, the functions of the other FT-Like members are still unknown in rice. In this study, we characterized and identifed a member of FT-Like family, OsFTL8 gene. The investigation of photoperiodic expression pattern showed that OsFTL8 transcription was mainly induced under short-day conditions. The qRT-PCR and GUS staining assays indicated that OsFTL8 was broadly expressed in various organs, including stems, leaves and panicles. OsFTL8 overexpression transgenic lines and its knockout mutants displayed no obvious change in their heading date, compared with the wild type. However, the pollen viability and seed setting rate were decreased in the overexpression transgenic lines. OsFTL8 localizes in both nucleus and cytoplasm. And we found that OsFTL8 does not interact with OsFD1 in vivo, suggesting that OsFTL8 may not be the component of forigen activation complex (FAC). In summary, our results indicate that OsFTL8 is associated with pollen viability and not involved in regulating rice fowering time, implying functional divergence of FT-Like members.

Carotid stiffening predicts cardiovascular risk stratification in mid-life: non-invasive quantification with ultrafast ultrasound imaging

        Zhengqiu Zhu,Lingshan Chen,Wenjun Liu,Yiyun Wu,Chong Zou,Xinyi Zhang,Shanshan He,Yinping Wang,Bixiao Shen,Xuehui Ma,Hui Gao,Yun Luan,Hui Huang 대한초음파의학회 2022 ULTRASONOGRAPHY Vol.41 No.3

Purpose: The present study investigated the association between Systematic COronary Risk Evaluation (SCORE)-estimated cardiovascular risk and carotid stiffening in a middle-aged population using ultrafast pulse wave velocity (ufPWV).Methods: This study enrolled 683 participants without known cardiovascular disease or diabetes mellitus who underwent ufPWV measurements. Clinical interviews, physical examinations, laboratory findings, carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT), pulse wave velocity (PWV) at the beginning of systole (PWV-BS), and PWV at the end of systole (PWV-ES) were assessed. Each participant underwent an assessment of SCORE risk based on major cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFs), including age, sex, smoking, systolic blood pressure (SBP), and total cholesterol (TC). Crude and adjusted odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals and ordinal logistic regression were used. Overall CVRFs were adjusted to assess ORs.Results: cIMT and carotid stiffening in PWV-BS and PWV-ES were significantly different between sex subgroups (all P<0.05), but only PWV-ES increased gradually in age and SCORE-estimated risk subgroups (all P<0.05). Compared with cIMT (r=0.388, P<0.001) and PWV-BS (r=0.159, P<0.001), PWV-ES was more strongly correlated with SCORE categories (r=0.405, P<0.001). Higher PWV-ES values were associated with SCORE categories independently of sex, SBP, TC, and smoking in moderate-risk and high-risk subgroups (OR, 1.63; P<0.001 and OR, 2.12; P=0.024, respectively), but were not independent of age in all risk subgroups (all P>0.05).Conclusion: Carotid stiffening quantified by ufPWV is linked to SCORE categories, and elevated PWV-ES may aid in cardiovascular risk stratification.
